Title: Is Aerith

cloud aries - January 26, 2007 10:46 AM (GMT)
Death pointless I found a web site that said Holy did not stop Meteor the Lifestream was the thing that stop Meteor. to read the rest go to http://www.ffshrine.org/ff7/ff7_theory_holy.php
sorry forgot to read the forum question.

No.

Holy stopped Meteor with the *aid* of Lifestream which Aerith guided from within along with the help of other souls that she had found within the lifestream, Zack, Biggs, Wedge, etc. We are shown that Aerith brings the lifestream at the end of FFVII with the child looking out the window and speaking about the flower girl and the face of Aerith being shown in lifestream, and just incase anybody didn't get that it was Aerith who brought lifestream to Holy, it is confirmed in Maiden of the Planet, along with the extra information that she found Zack, Biggs. Wedge, Jessie and that they helped too

So, again no, death wasn't pointless, what with her adventures in Maiden and heroics in Advent Children, Aerith has managed to do many things in spirit, no? :huggle:

Also, the creators wanted to use Aerith's death as a way to sort of highlight the game's theme of life and the idea that life never truly ends, it keeps going on in a neverending cycle within the Lifestream. They also wanted to use the character that would cause the player and characters the most pain to lose and so Aerith was chosen for this purpose.

They have also used MotP and AC to show that, though dead, Aerith continues to live on within the Lifestream and within Cloud himself.

wow thank for the information

what i was trying to said that Aerith didn't have to die why go to the city of anicent and pray for holy why don't pray at night at a city or at the any time of the day. Why go alone to the city of anicent? She known that Sephiroth going to be there why don't take some one with her. Zack would have help them anyway he would have summoed Lifestream to stop Meteor. squaresoft just want her dead. I still think her death was pointless. The game would be better if she didn't die.

I don't think she would have had enough power on her own to summon Holy or Lifestream--her death definitely had a point, even if it's heartbreaking--but it was not in vain. =\

I think Aerith already knew she was going to die, MOTP seems to imply she did, once she allowed herself to be drawn in by the planet's call.

She took up her position as a Cetra, admitting that part of herself that she had so long tried to deny and took it upon herself to protect everyone.

The prayer and her being in that Forgotten forest, it was very vital to enable her to summon Holy. Perhaps it's the most spiritual place, where her people and the Planet are most connected. Remember, Bugenhagen said that the person must talk to the planet itself, and asks for its aid.

Now, was it pointless? No, its said she was the one that led the Lifestream to serve as the buffer to allow Holy to destroy Meteor. She was the one who made the ones who were sick with Geostigma cured. Death only made her stronger.

Then why does she said to cloud that she is going to come back when it was all over.

Anti-R - January 27, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
I dunno, maybe to assure Cloud she'll be ok? Remember, she did tell him to "take care of yourself, and let ME handle Sephiroth."

Ugh. Listen to FF_Goddess please.

They didn't "just want her dead" They had a purpose for it. To show that life goes on. To show that physical death is not TRUE death. To show that though taken out by Sephiroth Aerith a very special person to players and other characters cannot ever be really killed. Aerith goes on.

Sephiroth only made her stronger.

Why not?

Look what would've happened if she didn't.

QUOTE
why don't pray at night at a city or at the any time of the day.

Because she didn't want to.

Also cities are "nosy" Full of people, Shinra and other people that were hurting the planet.

Where they had brought their technology that was draining the life out of the planet.

How do you expect her to get through to the planet there?

Actually how do you expect her to even know what to do?

QUOTE
Why go alone to the city of anicent?

Because she had to.

The knowledge that she had to find in order to find out what to do was in the City of the Ancients.

She had to find out what the key was and there she found out it was the White Materia. Remember before she thought "it couldn't do anything"

QUOTE
She known that Sephiroth going to be there why don't take some one with her.

Because she needed perfect peace, quiet and solitude to manage to make her voice reach the planet.

QUOTE
Zack would have help them anyway he would have summoed Lifestream to stop Meteor.

Yes, because Zack is a Cetra and has special Cetra powers  Like the Planet would have listened to HIM.

Zack would have done no such thing. Oh I'm sure he might've tried if he had the ability but the fact is he couldn't even try in the first place because the lifestream that was Zack was asleep. *Aerith* had to wake him up *Aerith* summoned Zack from the lifestream.

"squaresoft just want her dead."

Don't crap on the special role that Square gave Aerith plz

QUOTE

And she does.

Anti-R - January 27, 2007 04:33 PM (GMT)
Oh and Zack's not Cetra, has no White Materia, and doesn't seem to hear the Planet. So no, he can't possibly summon it. Neither does Biggs and Wedge and Jessie, who were practically the enviroterrorists of the game.

Yes, it was corny, but Aerith is the only one who could do it.

And am surprised a cleris fan as yourself used the outdated "square wants her dead" thing. Since it's simply not true at all.

BusterBlader - January 28, 2007 01:44 AM (GMT)
I totally agree w/ the findings. I thought they were concrete and believable. But what I don't get is... if Holy had meant to help Meteor, why didn't the Planet give birth to Omega? We all know that from Dr. Cresant's Omega Report that if the Planet sensed that humanity was going to be no more it would've given birth to Omega and sucked the Lifestream and the life force from every creature even what humans were left on Gaia, even AVALANCE and Deepground. The Planet could've summoned the WEAPONs to destroy Meteor, but there's a problem with this idea. Sephiroth needed the Black Materia in order to summon Meteor and this awoke the WEAPONS. I think that Aeris could've summoned Holy from the Northern Crater as well as awoken the WEAPONs to defend the Planet. I think if the WEAPONs are awoken w/ the Black Materia, they influnced by Jenova's will to destory humanity, an example would be when Ultimate WEAPON atttacked Mideel. It still searched for Jenova but it destoried the town in doing so and nearly killed the townsfolk. But if they were awoken by the White Materia, I think they would've done what they orginally created for w/o hurting the people of the Planet.

There are plenty of other topics you could have posted this question in, C-A. For example:

Was Aerith originally meant to die?
Did Aerith know she was going to die?
What if Aerith didn't die?
The prophecy of her death.
'I'll come back when it's all over'
What if Aerith did not die?

These might not be specifically on the subject of whether her death was pointless, but you could still have posted in one of them without being off topic. Please check to see if there is already a similar topic before you open new threads.
