well, think about it: we see cloud is riding, travelling we suppose around the world...is he searching for aeris? when he is aproaching the flower field, and aeris is in it, she suddenly turn around, like she is feeling cloud's presence...
aeris like very much the flowers so maybe cloud thinks that aeris must be in a flowerfield...that is why we stops in there, to be with her, not physically but in spirit at least...and maibe that is the reason of why he takes so many photos ....dont you think it could be?
theories please! :P

Well, when Cloud meets Aerith in the flower field in the "spiritual world," he says that he wants forgiveness, because he "let her die." And I suppose the reason why Cloud wanders around is because he is depressed not only because of Aerith's death but all those lives that were lost in FFVII at Sephiroth's hand. He has experienced so much trauma and loss. He is trying to find a way to repent and move on, and find a purpose in life.
That's my theory. ^_^
*is reminded of Rinoa and Squall in the flower field XDD*

 Well, I think it's basically for the same reasons. I agree with the idea that he goes in there to contact her spiritually. And as for traveling the world, I think he does this because he is trying to find himself, find forgiveness, and because he feels alone. If he does feel the need to be closer to her, he goes to the church. He is still full of guilt because of what happened, and visits the church I suppose because he is looking for her, to seek forgiveness and repent.
So I think his search for whatever it was is finally over at the end, but I don't necessarily think it's for "The Promised Land." I think that when he sees Aerith at the end, he feels at ease finally and is able to move on (reason why he smiles) because he realizes Aerith is always with him, and that he is not alone (he says "I'm not alone" at the end).

I think that at the ending of Advent Children {the credits} Cloud has finally found his "Promised Land," a place where he can be with Aerith any time he wants to. Why else would Cloud and Aerith be in the same place while a love song plays?
It was his original mission at the end of FFVII, which he could not fulfill because of his grief of losing the woman he loved {Aerith}. But after he got past that {"I'm not alone."}, he and Aerith were able to find a place where they could be together forever {sort of like Aerith's church}.

I love the Calling Music Video. This is SE putting "Cloud in a real place", and wow, the work they put into that.
I'm under the impression that Cloud continues travelling and visits Aerith in the flowerfield. He doesn't have to go search for her now. She's already there.

There seems to be a similar discussion over at FFVII discussion board too...

I know this may sound kind of Stupid but i don;t think Cloud has stopped looking for the promised land
Yeah sure he's been through alot but over the past 2 years (obv between FF7 and AC) He has been searching for forgivness (like other people have obviously sed) so i think that he thought if he found the promised land he'd be forgiven u know?
and yeah in the Calling scene i instantly thought that Cloud was going to see her but of course we don;t see that cos the screen decided to fade out while he was driving past the flowerfield she was in. so i think that yeah Cloud and Aerith can be together spiritually in that Flowerfield (that would explain why you see flowers from that field at the end in front of the family photo) so i don;'t know if i've sed anything to do with what u wanted to know but sowwy if i haven't :D

My very first theory was a stupid one, it was Cloud doing his delivery. <_< I didn't know the English lyrics at first so I didn't that it was a love song. Anywho, I agree that Cloud is going to see Aerith, now that he knows that he has been forgiven he now has the guts to see her again (and apologize for calling Aerith "mother", haha!) and now that he's his usual self again. I think that Cloud stopped searching for the Promised Land because being with Aerith in the flowerfield feels like he's already in the Promised Land. :huggle:
