x_danny_x - December 29, 2006 02:43 PM (GMT)
i was wondering if any of you girls knew of any new news about the remake of FF7?

are there any plans or did they killed the project?

I didn't know that they were even planning to make one. Is there a rumor about that going around because of the PS3 tech demo?
If so, I doubt that there will be a remake, it's much like the PS2 tech demo with Rinoa and Squall's dance, it's just to show off what they can do.
It'd be so cool if there was a remake though, I'd definitely buy it!

There has never been confirmation of it being a remake. Like what Zydalia said about the FF8 PS2 demo. Also before FF7 was made, Sqauresoft (as it was known back then) created a short techno demo of the next Final Fantasy and it featured Terra, Locke and Shadow from FF6 so there was a wide rumour of 7 actually being a sequel to 6.

So I wouldn't hold your breathe, but I'm also one of the fans who doesn't want 7 remade :P

they created a little demo of FF7 with PS3 technology quality

It'd be great if they did, but this is just a tech demo. In all truth, I think that they are remaking the game, but keeping it secret, kinda like a surprise. That's what alot of people think.
It'd be cool to have FF7 in PS3 graphics but...for now, it's just a rumor D;

EDIT: I found the FFVIII PS2 tech demo, just in case anyone is interested

I heard that they won't be remaking it until the game can no longer be played on the current consol. So if the PS4 can't play PS1 games, then they'll remake it.

I'll actually be kind of scared if they remake the game. I can just see them adding a lot of fanservice to it.

it would be cool if they made a remake but as of right now there are too many ff7 game.

I personally hope that they DON'T remake it, although the idea is very tantalizing. However, although Square has officially confirmed that they aren't making a remake at the moment, it could be a possibility in the not-so-distant future. ^_^

I waver back and forth on the idea of a remake, but in the end I think I'll always prefer the original version - blocky arms, midi music, 'this guy are sick' and all. It's like with the Resident Evil remake - somehow, even though the graphics were miles better, there were interesting extras added into the storyline, and the voice acting was actually acted, I still preferred the original PS version, with its low budget B-Movie charm.

"Wait! Don't open. THAT door!"

Man, I loved the original RE, although the REmake does scare the pants off me.

I'd love to see a remake, just to see all the heartbreaking scenes in the lifelike graphics. For example, the death scene. As moving as it is, the outdating graphics plus the fact I've seen it so many times takes away from it now. I don't feel as moved. Seeing it in the ps3's graphics would really be a good way to feel that inital shock and heartbreak again, for the veterans and AC!Newbies.

I feel as if the things I'm about to say have already been said on this forum... Ah well... Let's do it again.

I don't really mind a remade FFVII. Changing things up might piss me off really bad but I think that it if they can actually pull it off they could make the FFVII that we all know and love a better game. They could correct thier mistakes and even add more of what was unfinished in the original FFVII. Now I know that correcting mistakes may change the FFVII we know, but wouldn't you rather play the REAL FFVII the way it was meant to be played or play the original incomplete FFVII that was rushed during production.(Like several RPGs)

A few games come to mind when it comes to being remade...

Lunar SSS... Lunar SSSC was created and added a few new things tot he game. I remember buying a stratagy guide that showed the old Saturn game and compared it to the new PS version. All of the changes that I saw were for the better... and none of the changes took away from the original game.

Resident Evil(like Yukari stated) is another example... The original will always be a classic. Back when it was on the saturn it was a fun game. But I first played the GC version I thought automatically that they did a very good job. None of the story was altered, only aspects of the game that could be improved. In my opinion I thought it was alot better than the original.

Also Square has already remade quite a few Final Fantasy games. As far as I can tell they've never dramatically changed any of the stories in any of the games. The majority of changes were on graphics and added to the amount of monsters/bosses you could fight.

So as for a remake, I'd gladly accept one.

Of course time is a factor on actually creating a remake for FFVII. I believe they said that they were going to stop creating games based on FFVII after it's 20year anniversary, so we have a little less than a decade for it to be created; if it IS going to be created.
