Title: Beyond The Silence- C&a-video
Description: my fourth video

Title: Beyond the Silence
Audio: Our Farewell – Within Temptation
Video: Final Fantasy VII
Size: 83MB (720/576 ) - 30MB (480/360)

“Beyond the Silence” is my fourth (Cloud & Aeris) video. It is the first done with Adobe Premiere 6.0 however and the jump from WMM to Premiere was quite a hard one. Because of this “Beyond the Silence” took months longer to make than I expected. However, please do not expect that I have a full grip on Premiere by now.
I played around a lot but stayed away from the more fancy effects, favouring zooming, slowing down and – finally - the option to do true overlays.
I choose to make the video FFVII only, because Advent Children adds nothing to the story of Cloud and Aeris. My last video contained AC, my next will probably, too, so I decided to stay away from it in this one. Of course doing a 5-minute-song with FFVII alone means you will have a lack of footage when you are halfway trough resulting in the repetition of some scenes. I think I did quite well, however trying to use the scenes in a different way and changing them somewhat, so that it doesn’t feel like you have seen exact the same just a minute before. Whoever was annoyed by Aeris face popping up again and again in “Whispers through Memory” should feel warned, though.

“Our Farewell” is a long song that starts out slow but steadily builds up power till the end. I used the instrumental beginning to show Aeris remembering and then thinking about her death, while only hinting at what is about to happen, after that, I mostly follow the lyrics of the song. I portrayed the games ending as Clouds and Aeris fight for the future of the planet and for each other: Cloud fighting on earth with Aeris providing help from the afterlife through Holy and the Lifestream – this way I could include all the pretty ending scenes…
Overall it is to show that Aeris death is not “our farewell”.

Btw. did anyone notice that Aeris lips are moving when she lifts her head during the FFVII-ending? That is the reason why I chose this scene to the lyrics of “I can hear you say my name“.

If anyone has problems downloading or opening the video, please tell me. I don’t know how to deal with the video compression codecs Premiere makes necessary, so in case there are problems I need to know about it. Since Premiere allows to easier change a video later, I can actually correct it due to your wishes. If you have any advices, even when they’re only small (“Could you end this scene a millisecond earlier?”) than tell me, so I can make the video better. You’re sort of my testing crew, so be picky. Thanks.

Edit:
"I also managed to make a less quality version (for all those, who are scared of 80MB), which is only about 30 MB in size. However it is only 480/360 instead of 720/576 and the audio got converted from .wav to .mp3, so it sounds less clear and even a bit distant. I prefer the bigger one, because it sounds so much better and the 83MB is a good size for a good quality 720/576 video."

Within Temptation - Our Farewell
In my hands
A legacy of memories
I can hear you say my name
I can almost see your smile
Feel the warmth of your embrace
But there is nothing but silence now
Around the one I loved
Is this our farewell?

Sweet darling you worry too much, my child
See the sadness in your eyes
You are not alone in life
Although you might think that you are

Never thought
This day would come so soon
We had no time to say goodbye
How can the world just carry on?
I feel so lost when you are not at my sight
But there's nothing but silence now
Around the one I loved
Is this our farewell?

Sweet darling you worry too much, my child
See the sadness in your eyes
You are not alone in life
Although you might think that you are

So sorry your world is tumbling down
I will watch you through these nights
Rest your head and go to sleep
Because my child, this is not our farewell.
This is not our farewell.

ZOMG...I can't believe no one has replied to this yet, Sternenstaub!
It was SO moving!!! I swear, this FMV is your best one yet...and I didn't think your videos could get any better than Whispers Through a Memory. I love it to death :lust:

You're so talented at what you do. I thought the timing was absolutely wonderful, and I loved how you overlapped the scenes. I know how hard it can be to make a whole video using only MV clips from the game, but you accomplished just that. Even though there had to have been some repetition in there, I didn't notice any of them. You did a good job of making repeated scenes look different simply by overlapping them with others, brilliant!

I'm pretty speechless right now, so you'll have to wait a little while before I can get back to you on the nit-picky little things you can do to help improve your FMVs (if there are such things :P ).

:huggle: Thank you sooooooo much... I feared people would forever hold me to "Whispers", or they would hit me for not using AC... I'm really glad I could surpass that one.

I'm glad that you didn'T notice the repeated scenes, so I did it right. When I was stuck with the last minute or so, I didn'T have any clue where to get the last scenes from. And the only suggestions I received were "Cut the song down."

Anyway, I'll wait for your criticism :gift:
