Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-

Gameplay:

First, the bad news. Reports indicate that it was nearly impossible to take photographs due to security.

The Crisis Core Demo features two missions, Wutai Invasion and Ifrit Battle. Each includes cutscenes, field navigation, enemy encounters, and a boss battle. Details in the plot remain shaky, however the Wutai Invasion mission mentions a new character known as Colonel (Captain?) Razard (?), and the Ifrit Battle mission has a man with glasses and short, fair hair.

While navigating the field, enemies will appear and you will enter combat with a seamless transition. In battle, the L and R buttons are used to cycle through commands, the Circle button is used to execute the selected action, and the Square and Triangle buttons are used for dodging and defending. The camera can be controlled freely.

In battle, actions consume Action Points, or AP, as well as conventional MP for magic, and using the same action repeatedly, such as in a 3-hit combo, consumes more AP. The Slots appear to deal with Zack's memories and are a key factor in combat. Their primary use is to restore consumed points, and as such, can be utilized to time out attacks more effectively. However, by lining up three of the same character, you draw out Zack's memories, and can gain various special effects, such as "Actions Cost no AP" or "Reduced MP Cost", adding an even deeper layer of strategy to combat.

Trailer:

A new trailer was showcased in the "Closed Megatheater", similar to the one at TGS. These are just a few details which have surfaced. Please keep in mind that things are still sketchy.

- The trailer begins where the TGS trailer left off, with Genesis yelling about the "Shinra dogs".

- Scene where Zack jumps down to the train.

- The mission Zack and Tseng are on is to track down Genesis, who went missing during combat in Wutai a month earlier, though Sephiroth was originally supposed to go, not Zack.

- A new character named Razard, who appears to be a superior to Zack and Angeal, though he may have a position more like Tseng's.
- Razard: "With Angeal's nomination, you have a clear shot to 1st."
- Zack becomes very excited and jumps at Angeal, who instantly brushes him off.

- Sephiroth and Zack find a corpse in a forest.
- Zack: "Genesis!?"
- Sephiroth: "It's different, a Genesis Copy."
- Zack: "A human clone!?"

- Sephiroth: "Angeal is a traitor."
- Zack: "That- Angeal isn't like that!"

- In some remote region, Zack and a Shinra troop are talking.
- Zack: "Where are you from?"
- Troop: "Nibelheim."
- Zack: "Hehehe, I'm from Gongaga! When it comes to remote regions, the two of us shouldn't be afraid of anything. What's your name?"
- The troop, laughing, removes his helmet, revealing himself to be Cloud.
- Cloud: "I'm Cloud."

- An airborne battle between Genesis, Angeal, and Sephiroth.

I want to see this! :woot:

Thanks, Aerith_kun ^^
We finally get to see what it was like when Zack and Cloud talked for the first time.
How cute!

Seriouzly, I'm now beginning to see that the true LT is ZackXCloudXLeon :plot:

Maiden - December 16, 2006 04:10 PM (GMT)
I wanna see that Cloud part, but I mostly wanna see that airborne battle between Genesis, Angeal, and Sephiroth. :)

Thank you for posting this, Aerith_kun :gift:

Suzaku has updated more info about the new trailer:

Jump Festa Trailer Summary (Preview)

[Scene 01]

- *This is the scene that the TGS trailer ended with.*

G: "This feeling deep within my chest, an unexpected joy I don't want to forget."
G: "Endlessly wandering around the water that is my heart, it ripples faintly."

- G is sitting down beside a window, reading poetry from a piece of paper.

G: "Feh... You're like a noisy puppy, Zack."

- Zack fixes a stare at him, and Tseng runs up to Zack's side.

G: "Two people have continued to betray me..."

- G stands up.

G: "Ever since I went to that house."
G: "You Shinra dogs, what do you know!?"

- Genesis begins to cast a Fire attack.

[Scene 02 - From TGS]

- The Shinra building (without the Sister Ray) comes into view as the song "Blasting Mission" plays.

[ƒÊ]-ƒÃƒÁƒÉ 2000
Seven years before Final Fantasy VII

- A single helicopter appears in the sky over a running train.
- The voice of a man who seems to be a superior officer is heard.

"Advance on the train in two squads."
"Quickly get into position, and recapture the train."

- The man inside the helicopter is Zack.
- With a smile, he springs towards the train.
- Zack (with improved facial graphics) jumps down and lands on the train.
- He then slowly raises his upper body.

[Scene 03]

- A fair haired man with glasses, who seems to be a superior officer.

Razard: "Zack, I'm Razard of the SOLDIER union."

- Zack shakes his hand.

Zack: "My best regards."

Razard: "Likewise - now."

- An image of G is projected on a monitor.

Razard: "SOLDIER 1st Class, Genesis, he went missing a month ago during combat in Wutai."
Razard: "You'll depart as soon as preperations are complete."

[Scene 04 - from TGS]

Zack: "I, I want to help a friend."
Zack: "But I don't know how I should do it."

Aerith: "Hello?"

Zack: "An angel...?"

- Zack wakes up.
- Aerith points up to where the light is shining down from and speaks.

Aerith: "No, I'm Aerith."
Aerith: "You, uh, fell down."
Aerith: "Gave me quite a scare!"

- Zack looks back at her.

Zack: "I'm Zack."

[Scene 05]

- *Continuation from Scene 03.*

Angeal: "I've nominated you for 1st."

Zack: "Ah- Angeal! You're the best!"

- Zack excitedly hugs Angeal, who quickly pries him off.

[Scene 06 - from TGS]

- *This is the scene from the screenshot where Sephiroth talks to Zack about Angeal.*
- Zack and Sephiroth are standing back to back as they speak.

Sephiroth: "We crept into the 2nd's department and hung out there, Genesis, Angeal and I."

Zack: "You all get along well, huh?"

Sephiroth: "Heh, you'd think so."

- Sephiroth smirks.

[Scene 07]

- Zack is talking with a Shinra MP and two other people in a snowy area.

Shinra MP: "My hometown..."

Zack: "Where is it?"

Shinra MP: "Nibelheim..." (in a quiet voice)

Zack: "Hehehe..."

Shinra MP: "Zack..."

Zack: "Me, I'm from Gongaga! Hey, you laughed! What's so funny?"
Zack: "Haven't you heard of it? Gongaga."

[Scene 08]

Zack: "Have you heard from Angeal?" (he sounds worried)

Razard: "His parent's home probably doesn't have a connection."

[Scene 09]

- *This lines are from TGS, but the scene and location are different.*
- Tseng and Zack are in a room.

Tseng: "Originally, Sephiroth was supposed to come along on this mission."
Tseng: "That's what I meant, it should be taken seriously."
Tseng: "If you just take it easy, we'll fail."

Zack: "Sephiroth!?"

Tseng: "He refused the order... or so I've heard."

[Scene 10 - from TGS]

- Aerith speaks while looking up at the hole that the light is shining through.

Aerith: "If we go to the upper city, the sky would be closer, right?"
Aerith: "I wonder, little flowers... are you happy?"

- A sobbing voice is heard.
- Aerith turns around to Zack.
- Zack's back is turned to Aerith, and he's sitting cross-legged, crying.
- Aerith gently wraps her arms around Zack from behind, embracing him.

[Scene 11 - from TGS]

- *This is the scene from the screenshot where Zack talks about "Project G."*
- Sephiroth is listening with a serious look on his face.

Zack: "'Project G'..."

Sephiroth: "'Project Genesis'."

[Scene 12]

- *Continuation of Scene 07.*
- *This scene is different from the E3 screenshots.*

Zack: "Rejoice, Tseng! With me and, uh..."

- Zack nudges the Shinra MP, who comes into view and takes off his helmet.

Shinra MP: "... Cloud."

- Zack performs his victory pose and puts passion into his words.

Zack: "With me and Cloud here, when it comes to remote regions, there's nothing to fear!"

[Scene 13 - From TGS]

Zack: "You're wrong, having wings doesn't make you a monster."

Angeal: "Then, what are these?"

- Two white wings sprout from Angeal's back on his right side and unfold.

Zack: "The wings of an angel."

- A white feather flies out and flutters about, which Zack catches in his hand.
- Angeal looks skyward, spreading his wings and shouting.

Angeal: "... If that's so, what kind of purpose does an angel have?"
Angeal: "What kind of dream should I have!?"

[Scene 14]

- In a forest, Zack and Sephiroth come across a place where several soldiers have fallen.
- Sephiroth looks at the face of one of the soldiers.

Sephiroth: "Genesis..."

Zack: "The 1st Class that escaped?"

Sephiroth: "It's a Genesis-Copy."

Zack: "Copy? A human copy?"

Sephiroth: "Where's Angeal?" (it became difficult to hear after this part)

Sephiroth: "Where'd he go?"

Zack: "What do you mean?"

Sephiroth: "Angeal is a traitor. That's what I mean."

Zack: "That can't be! He's not that kind of man! Angeal... He wouldn't betray me or anyone!"

[Scene ??]

- *Continuation of Scene 01*

Genesis: "Hey... pal."

- Angeal enters the room, and points his sword at Genesis.

Genesis: "Very well. Have you finally decided in your heart of hearts, then?"
Genesis: "I will respect the view of my childhood friend."

- He walks past him.

Genesis: "In that world... Can you keep living?"

And for Jump Festa images (the last four are from Crisis Core): Jump Festa 2006

" Aerith gently wraps her arms around Zack from behind, embracing him" :o Only if that was Cloud...oh man my fangirlyness will explode :D. When is the game scheduled for release in the U.S?

Bah, Cloud got something better than an embrace.
He has her consciousness with him :P

Did ya'll read the IGN Clerith spoof?

Crisis Core seems almost too technically sound to be a PSP game. It also appears to have some of the highest production values yet seen in a portable game. A trailer for the game shown in the Square Enix closed theater space had real time cinematic sequences featuring the likes of Cloud and Aerith, along with quality CG sequences

I don't know if that is good news but..WHAT THE HELL! :woot:

Z.O.M.G. Well, I certainly hope it's true. xD

It doesn't sound like Cloud and Aerith will meet, tho I guess it makes sense considering CC's timeline.

I'm not getting my hopes high, because this is before Cloud knew Aerith, but at least S-E gave us some hints on it.

I want to squee really badly...but I have to refrain myself 'cos I'm really not sure what IGN means. Do you happen to have the rest of the article, Freya?

As for timeline...Crisis Core is supposed to encompass the entire compilation, so just maybe we'll see something in there about Cloud and Aerith. We'll just have to wait and see.

Go ahead and squee, HD.
IGN is a pretty well-known general video game website - http://www.ign.com/
The full article is here : http://psp.ign.com/articles/751/751423p1.html
Don't know how official this is, but IGN is pretty trustworthy. It's a nice little tidbit to squee about, even though Cleris in CC is highly unlikely. I'm thinking it might be scenes of Cloud and Aerith seperately, or just that they both happen to be in the trailer along with Zack and the rest.

*clings to her faraway hope of Cloud and Aerith passing each other unknowingly in between bookshelves*

I think it's of them seperately for some reason, cause as mean and anti-cleris as this sounds. Cloud and Aerith didn't know each other yet, cause this is the past, so I don't think we will see much love unless, it's Zeris. xP

It's just what confuses me is the "likes of Cloud and Aerith" part. I don't know if that means like conpairing them both, like showing their life seperately or like "OMG! THEIR A COUPLE" ...

Yup...that's why I was wondering that IGN was saying.
It's nice that they specifically picked out Cloud and Aerith though :shifty:

SE is pretty capable of making up random stuff to fill in the plotline (Zack also falling in through the roof of the church, for example), so you never know. :P

It was suppose to, wasn't it? But seeing as they've changed so many things as to what it was 'suppose' to be, I wouldn't be suprised if they canned the whole idea and just made it a game about Zack.
