I heard on another forum that as a part of the Ivalice Alliance Project (Which FFXII and XII:RW is a part of it) Tactics will be making its triumphant return. And I am not talking about that lame excuse known as Tactics Advance. Ramza Beoulve and the crew will be marching their way to the PSP and DS. The PSP one is a confirmed remake with new classes, skills, fully animated scenes, and a slightly enhanced battle system. I have never felt so FF happy in all my life!

As someone who completely enjoyed FFT:A, there was nothing wrong with the game. People are just against it because it was on the GBA and the story was lacking. The game was fun and addicting, as was FFT. Also FFXII is loosely based more on the latter of the two.

This is welcome news to me even though I am not all that huge on strategy games. The first two were very fun in my opinion, so I'll wait patiently for this. ^_^

That's great news Neko! I enjoyed Tactics as well, I thought the characters were well done and the storyline was good so it will be great to see it again with new stuff. I have never played Tactics Advance so I can't really comment on that part but your opinion is valid to me so I will trust your judgment on that game :D

In any case thanks for sharing the news!

I adored FFTA, so I'm not quite sure why it gets so much negative press--but hey, I've been wanting FFT since--forever, on a handheld. So this is great news! :3

Although FFT's story was always so--depressing for me. :(

That was the reason I didn't like it as much. I played it and beat it and that was it.

The thing that usually has someone remember and favoritize an RPG is the story. And FFTA's story was pretty gimped when compared to the very intricate story of the original Tactics. Several other things were gimped as well classes, weapons, magics, items, etc but that didn't dissapoint as much as the story did.

Anyways, about FFT. I love it. Tactics, with new stuff? Sounds great to me... And no more red carding me and sending me to jail for using the same move twice, attacking with a certain type of sword, or using magic? Double great.

Tactics is back.

NekoDono - December 14, 2006 12:01 PM (GMT)
It was boring to me. It had basicly less options, less special characters, the story stunk to high heaven, fictional fan people swooning over Final Fantasy, and the Judges were just annoying! It made me want to throw my GBA away and pop in my FFT game for healing. FFT's complex plot helped me love it. I like it when you are forced to think on a higher level. Marche is really trying to be a Ramza clone, and in physical appearance he is. But he lacks Ramza's maturity and sense of duty in my opinion. I dunno...maybe I'm just rambling.

Any ways, I'll try and dig up some more info. When I do, I'll post it ASAP! :huggle:

Ahaha... Got some news.

PSP is getting either a revamped port of the original or a sequal of the original Final Fantasy Tactics. And they're calling it FFT: The Lion War or something like that.

DS on the other hand is getting a game called, "FInal Fantasy Tactics A2"... Guess what the "A" stands for. Yes you guessed it. It's an FFTA sequal. >=)

I have both a PSP and DS, so I'm probably going to play both but of course the PSP version is going to be opened first. DS version is going to have to wait after I beat several of my unfinished RPGs...

*cringes* God, I thought I'd get the DS one seeing that I can't afford a PSP but it's FFTA!? Man... also, the sequel idea doesn't sound good to me. I rather play FFT enhanced because they might end up well...ruining it like they did 7. They just went too crazy with sequels and prequels with FFVII and if it happened to FFT I don't know what I would do!

Isn't Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Advance the same game? :ermm:

We never got FFT so I assumed that TA was a port. But I enjoyed TA, because the plot was different than most things, and I liked the values of friendship placed. The jobs were fun and I had a great time doing all of the missions in the pub for the Clan.

FFT and FFTA are very different.

In FFT, you play Ramza Beoulve. The young, illegitamate son of the Heavanly Knight Balbanes who becomes a heretic after killing a corrupt holy man.

In FFTA you plat Marche Raijudu (or something like that) a boy lost in a fantasy world from a book his friend Mewt found.

Angelalex242 - December 15, 2006 03:33 PM (GMT)
It'd be nice if they gave Ramza access to other special Knight classes then SuperSquireonCrack.

He could go from Dark Knight to Holy Knight to Divine Knight to Lune Knight to Holy Swordsman to Heavenly Knight...succeeding his father in the role.

Balthier makes an appearance and apparently plays a weighty role. Crazy, eh? Fan Service, thy name is Final Fantasy. I'll find the video with him in it. He appears during the "Rat Cellar" fight in chapter 1. (Y'know, before you give Algus the boot)

Kusari Yarou - May 23, 2007 06:25 AM (GMT)
My first reaction to this was "EEEEEEEEEEEEYEAHH!!!" :woot: :woot: :woot:

*cough* So, eh, yeah. My brother and I adored FFT: very addicitive gameplay, brilliant story, and all those cute little chibi characters who perform murders and bizarre rituals at the drop of a hat...ahhh those were the days!

*points at trailer* Though I wish they enhanced their drawing styles too, and gave the characters noses...I was so looking forward to seeing Ramza and Delita bishified! But still! To see well loved scenes in full animation...Delita lashing out at Algus, Fort Zeakden exploding, and hey, dyou think they'll animate Cloud protecting the Aerith-looking flower girl? :D

 Really? I always had the impression Mustadio was Balthier's ancestor or summat...they share the same last name. But now they'll be in the same game! Heh.

Friggen sweet! I couldn't understand what the guy was actually saying at first but i heard "ken this" and "ken that" and put one and two together... =)

And I hope Cloud and Aeris' scene gets an animation sequence. Loved the no nose art FFT had. =)

There, 3 lovely images of Balthier in Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War.

Y'know what I hope?

That there's an option to connect FFTA2 to the original Tactics Advance to unlock special secrets. Like, say, recruiting FFTA's characters or heck, even your old Clan members!

But maybe I'm getting ahead of myself...

*whines and complains*

Where's the PS3 version???
My Tactics game is all beat up and scratched up. I needed a new one.
Yeah, and it'd be really sweet to see an animated version of the Cloud and flower girl scene.

Hey, me too. :D

Jinchuu - June 15, 2007 12:36 AM (GMT)
I can't wait until the new tactics are both in my hands!

I really really really want that new Lion War PSP game since it is handheld, has cool extras and the fact that my Tactics game for the PS1 is kinda screwy right now. Freezes when I go shopping!

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - August 20, 2007 09:47 AM (GMT)
I was lurking browsing around the VGR forums until I came across this link in their FFXII thread...

FFTA2 Vaan & Penelo

More incentive for FFTA fans I'm not alone, am I?! Though they'll be cameos, like Balthier in The Lion Wars.

Though, I wonder if Balthier is a good influence on Vaan...not that I complain about Vaan's FFTA2 look.

Anti-R - August 21, 2007 12:28 AM (GMT)
They FINALLY gave him a shirt. Phew. Took SE long enough.

NekoDono - August 21, 2007 01:45 AM (GMT)
XD Vaan stole Balthier's shirt!? What's next? Vaan winning over the ladies with his "silver tongue"? :lmao:

Of course you're not alone! :huggle: I loved FFTA! I completely fangirled over seeing Montblanc in FFXII.

I wish I could get this, but I'm never getting a PSP, so... guess I'll just enjoy my old used copy of PS1 FFT. Course, I don't know if I'll ever win it. I'm still stuck in the first chapter! *hides in shame*

But yay, Penelo in FFTA 2! I am happy now.

Updated news! Following up on the case of Identity Theft between Zack and Cloud, Balthier now demands Vaan to give back his shirt.

Vaan with a 'silver tongue'? Oh no, I'd imagine him tries and failed at it.

Still, yay for FFTA2! :woot:

NekoDono - August 21, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
XD I'm on that law suit! I shall defend Vaan!

The "silver tongue" was a joke about Balthier's description in the booklet that came with the US version (non-collector's).

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - August 22, 2007 11:17 AM (GMT)
*move FFTA2 higher on the list of gaming needs*

Heh, though the thought is amusing, Neko, which is begging to be made into fanart. Still, I wonder how Vaan and Penelo fit into the game. Recruitable but optional characters, perhaps?

And I'll be the Judge at the Shirt Theft case. Not because I'll have a good view of both Balthier and Vaan.

KeKe - August 23, 2007 04:06 AM (GMT)

I'll be prosecutor! I shall not let Vaan mooch off of Balthier's unique (and vastly superior) wardrobe!

Anyway, I would love to have Vaan and Penelo in my clan. And I hope some of the original characters make a comeback, like Marche and Ritz.

NekoDono - August 23, 2007 04:59 AM (GMT)
I guess one of my issues with TA (beyond the limited options, limited party members, and weak story) is Marche is a HUGE Ramza rip off but lacks the sheer strength I attribute to Ramza. He was noble who threw away his name and took up arms to fight for what was right. Pretty noble, no? Marche is like a weak clone.

They Even Look The Same!

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - August 23, 2007 08:01 AM (GMT)
Well, since I never played FFT before (so I wholeheartedly supports The Lion War to appear in PAL), I'll refrain my judgement until I see it for myself.

To me, Marche knows how his friends and family want to keep Ivalice, but was also aware that they're escaping the 'real' world and into their dreams. Marche have his own dreams, but know that he can't escape forever and sought a solution to go back, even if he's force to fight Ritz. I find it interesting, since Marche is being considered as a 'bad guy' from the eyes of Ivalice, who seems to be out to destroy their world.

*poke Ramza's waist*Whoa, nice figure. I'm guessing the resemblances, if you ignore the different art style, is hoping for the player to be attached to the main guy (Marche).

KeKe, I also hope for an option to see the original FFTA characters, like through linking on the DS (a la Pokemon Pearl/Diamond), and also Vaan and Penelo as recruitable characters. My Paladin/Fighter Marche will kick serious arse if that's possible.
