I didn't know were to post this so sorry feel free to move it. ^^'

Early Sunday, Mars, Jupiter and Mercury will give observers a rare treat. Stargazers will get a rare triple planetary treat this weekend with Jupiter, Mercury and Mars appearing to nestle together in the predawn skies. About 45 minutes before dawn on Sunday those three planets will be so close that the average person's thumb can obscure all three from view. They will be almost as close together on Saturday and Monday, but Sunday they will be within one degree of each other in the sky. Three planets haven't been that close since 1925 and it won't happen again until 2053. According to the artical I'm reading in the newspaper, Jupiter will be very bright and it will look like it has two bright lights next to it, and they won't twinkle because they're planets. Jupiter will be white, Mercury pinkish (Yay for my favorite planet it ish pink! XD) and Mars butterscotch-colored.

So I'm very excided about this lots XD I don't know if this is happaning else where, besides the US, but who's up for seeing it this Sunday? ^_^

I hope they release pics of it, I'll probably be asleep by then.

Early Sunday as in... tomorrow? I'll have to check my astronomy program to find out the details, but if this is true, I'll take my telescope out of the basement. :D

[Edit]: Okay, I checked it out, and you're right. It's going to be very difficult to see though, at least according to my computer program that tracks astronomical events, because the three planets will be just barely above the horizon at 6:00 AM with an azimuth of probably only about 5-10 degrees. After that, the sun will rize right next to them making it difficult to see.

Anyway, I don't know where you live, but if you're horizons are empty, you should be able to see it at around 6:30 in the Southeastern sky. They'll rize right up next to the sun, but they should still be fairly visible at dawn.
