Title: Kh3 Sora Main Character?
kirramagic - December 3, 2006 12:00 AM (GMT)
Does anyone think that Sora will still be the main character? Cause I was thinkin that that might change with the next game cause Sora hasn't lost any of his old abilities or anything so I think it might be someone else.
Pyra Kurai Akaidra - December 3, 2006 09:59 AM (GMT)
Personally, I don't think so, kirramagic.
I've beaten KH2 on Beginner Mode (so sue me), and I felt that Sora's story was finished. Can't say too much from revealing spoilers.
So it'll probably be in another timeline, whether the future or past, Nomura have yet to specified.
kirramagic - December 3, 2006 02:23 PM (GMT)
Yeah I agree with you on that.
Wintercream - December 3, 2006 02:57 PM (GMT)
Yes i think so too, Sora's story didn't quite finish yet at the endign of KH2. Although i can't help but think that maybe Riku might take the spotlight for a while in the next game (hopefully i am a [I]huge Riku fan) . But indeed you do have some points, Becuase Sora's ablilities didn't really change and don't worry Pyra Kurai Akaidra i beat the game on beginner too ..heheh
NekoDono - December 3, 2006 04:18 PM (GMT)
XD I beat it on Proud Mode. (I am queen! lol ) But ya, it's true. I suppose the whole "Not Being Trapped In That Shell Thing" kinda messes up Sora for Kingdom Hearts 3. I personally hope for a whole new hero (or heroine :fangirl: )! Perhaps someone who is in the know about the whole "Keyblades War" thing. I'm kinda praying for an adult character, something similar to Auron of FFX.

Same here. SE has been dragging themselves with the adolescents long enough, it's like anyone over 17 is incapable of being a hero. They made Cloud 22 in KH, and Leon's a crone at 25--and they both still have fangirls! So how about putting someone around that age as the title character of their next game?
(As much as I would want an Auron-type as a hero, I'm taking baby steps with my hopes here. XD)
As for Sora--it's possible that he might be the main character if KH3 took place in the future. I have a feeling SE knows that he's beginning to wear out his welcome, though, with the way KH2 ended. And the thing is... if Sora grew up, wouldn't all the Disney characters have to too? *tries and fails to imagine a more "grown up" Donald*
Riku's sheer popularity might very well spawn him his own game, but I always saw him as more fitting in the "cool rival/best friend" role. Every respectable main hero has one of those. :P I know Riku got Reverse Rebirth in CoM, but again, it's as the other side of Sora's quest. I can't imagine Riku in a game all about him.
I feel the best would be to have a new batch of characters, but with the chance to revisit Sora and the gang in an effort to dig out all our nostalgia.
Zidaneismyman - December 3, 2006 10:20 PM (GMT)
he'll prabably stay the main character cause sora has been the main character in all of them if he wasn't the main character it wouldn't b kingdom hearts :D

Why would it not? Sora can still be a key part of the story but I'm getting really sick of him. I want a mature adult character, perhaps in his/her 30's or 40's. Some one who knows the world. IE I want Auron. No matter what, Sora will be a very central point in KH as Key Blade Master but I could use a grown up now. Sora is 15 yet still seems kinda...childish to me.

*wears Sora Defender Armor*
Well, KH is a Disney game. Whether we like it or not, it'll prioritize their target audience.
So I cannot see a mature grim main character to go in there and interact with Disneyesque fairy tale heroes. Seriously, that's disturbing.
As for Sora, he's still a Keyblade Master, and said weapon has not left his side yet, and third game was about said weapon. So it won't be a bad idea for him to star a third one (and with Nomura fanboying him?).
I have to agree with Lynn that Riku could also have potential for an independent game (see Megaman Zero) though.
Sefie - December 4, 2006 02:42 AM (GMT)
*Joins the Sora camp* I love Sora! He's such a breath of fresh air after heroes like Cloud and Squall!
kirramagic - December 4, 2006 07:18 AM (GMT)
I'm not dissing Sora though really he is a great character :huggle: but really if you started the 3rd game as him as he is now in the game he's already got all his abilities so they'd have to find some way for him to start all over again which would be a pain slightly...
But I think really it would be great to introduce a new main character maybe a girl this tie ^^ I'd love that!
Alan Bates - December 4, 2006 10:22 AM (GMT)
It's pretty standard for heroes to lose all their abilities between games without any real explanation.

D'oh! >.< Yeah, I didn't consider the Disney side of it. That would explain if all KH main characters were adolescents.
(Still, SE... Consider the "older hero" idea for your other games plz? ;.; )
As for losing abilities between games--Shadow Hearts 2 came up with a way to wipe the slate clean for its main hero. If they want to, the writers will come up with something.
Or just believe that the hero simply lazes around between games, eating burritos and watching Friends. :D
Alantie - December 4, 2006 03:50 PM (GMT)
*joins the Sora defense* I too love Sora! What of it? :D
I honsetly felt Sora was the perfect character to be the main hero who mingles with the Disney characters. I think in thinking about the 3rd KH, people seem to be forgetting the Disney side of the story. How is that all going to work out if its a game far in the future or way in the past? I don't think it would work out so well.
In all honesty, I don't feel Sora's story was finished. There were many loose ends, and I want to see them tied up. There was the infamous letter at the end for one thing. Leaving that wide open would be pure torture. Then, there's still Maleficient running loose. I want to know what castle she's redecorating for her own personal use! Also, with the secret video at the end of KH2, its possible that what is shown is a flashback, the same with the secret video Deep Dive for KH1. That even never actually occured during the course of the game. I feel its the same for this video as well, it just had that flashback feel to it, something about the past that Sora and the others will learn about.
Also, there's this even more controversial topic: the door of light. In the first KH, the 'mysterious voice' says that Sora is the one who will open the door. Now, I know most people seem to think that he's already done this, with the door that opens at the ending of KH2, but I disagree. What I felt was that the door referred to was the one that Kairi was told about in the story from her grandmother in KH1. Remember? That the true light of the worlds was locked away behind a door in the depths of the darkness. The worlds are scattered and disconnected, but are really and honestly supposed to be together, but without the true light, they can't be. I think the opening of that door will be the end of Sora's story, and until it happens, it isn't over yet. :P

*cough* Yuna and Rikku *cough*. Last time I saw these two characters in my FFX game, they're level 99.
And don't make me start with Vincent in DoC (why the heck is he level 1 when he easily fought Bahamut Shin in AC?!).

Well... XII seems to be in the right direction. Even though Vaan was slotted "main character", he wasn't important enough to shake the game. You could easily slide in Basch and Balthier (originally the main guy before Vaan)... both above 20s.
Wintercream - December 4, 2006 05:56 PM (GMT)
-makes a sigh-
Personally I love Sora, he has been the Main Charactor for the entire series so far. So it woudl be pointless to change main Charas at this point in the series. Plus i don't think Sora's sorty is quite finished yet.
(hopefully Riku will become a more in-depth chara in the Kh3 :fangirl: )
But seriously, how can you imagine Kh3 with out sora as the main chara?
As for the age problem, personally i like to keep the chara's close or aroudn my age.
That's just me lol.
Oh and..-waves at nekodono- hiya ^^
Alantie - December 4, 2006 07:58 PM (GMT)
I honestly can't see KH without Sora either. ^_^ *bonds with Wintercream*
Though I am hoping for him to be a bit older in this next game- maybe seventeen? Hehehehehe
Demos Maus - December 4, 2006 11:26 PM (GMT)
I still think that Sora should be the main character in the story. There seem to be some loose ends in the second game. Yet, SE can make some of the other characters to good use (Ex. Riku)
Hmmm...I hope they make Sora a bit older though
Resha - December 5, 2006 12:01 PM (GMT)
I still believe that Sora is going to remain as the main character in KH3. My opinion on the bonus ending of KH2, I think they're just new characters (the armored people with keyblades) that will afflict Sora's journey. I wonder if the Org.XIII will still have its connection to KH3... :P
Koby - December 5, 2006 03:47 PM (GMT)
Guys and Gals.. Sora will forever be the KH main character. It has been said by Nomura himself in one of the Famitsu Interviews. I can't believe so many people and sites argue that there will be a new character when it's been said over two years ago Sora will be with Kingdom Hearts till the end of the franchise or series.
KH is different from Final Fantasy in that the same character is always the main character. Said by Nomura.
Wintercream - December 5, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)
-standing next to Alantie-
Indeed so i think everyone is in an agreement here...
But honestly, who wouldn't want to see Sora age a few more years to perhaps eighteen, nineteen :fangirl: . "LAWLAORZ".
Also i would love to see some new charectors put into play as well.....such as RIku having a lover in the game or something...But wouldn't it be nice for them so show Aerith in the game sometime? It coudl be some sort of flashback Sora can have or somthing...iono...im just ratting at this point
Alantie - December 5, 2006 05:42 PM (GMT)
*Alantie and Wintercream holding a We Love Sora banner*
I wouldn't worry, I'm sure that Aerith will be back too. :D Sora will most definately go back to Radiant Garden. How could he not? There were loose ends there too! *coughCloudandSephybattlecough* So maybe we'll get a little more CloudxAerith? :fangirl:
*imagines a eighteen year old Sora* I most DEFINATELY want to see that! He would be ever so sexy. I just hope his personality doesn't change too much. He's so cute and sweet right now. I don't want him to turn into Mr. Angst King.
I have no problems with more new characters. New characters are fun! I'm not sure if I want to see Riku with someone. I actually like him single  Though I wouldn't be horribly disturbed if he did get a girlfriend. We will probably be getting a new villian this time around too, since the Org. got smashed to bits! Malificent will still be around, but maybe we'll get the real mastermind behind everything, neh?

SE would BURN for that. BUUUURN.
And I don't like random girls appearing outta nowhere claiming bishies, anyway, just to cram in a love story for the sake of a love story. Nothing wrong with leaving a character single! :)
And. Again. SE WOULD BURN.
@Koby: I remember seeing that line, but that doesn't mean SE can't change their mind.
Anti-R - December 5, 2006 11:58 PM (GMT)
Agreed. Riku must remain single. Or pick up the LT with Sora and Kairi again. >.<
NekoDono - December 6, 2006 12:06 AM (GMT)
<_< I shall never relent my hopes of an Auron-esque hero. Although I know Sora is HIGHLY important to KH, I am sooo sick of these teens saving the world. Perhaps Sora in 30 years, weathered by his experience. Hey, I'm compramising, okay? lol
Wintercream - December 6, 2006 06:38 PM (GMT)
-Hides behind Alantie- please hold your fire!!! The big SE can do whatever they want..for they are Gods!! :D
Yeah i guess your right Riku would seem nice to remain single however i still think it would be uber kawaii to see him with someone. And it doesn't have to be some random person it can be someone related to him from his past somehow. sides wouldn't you guys love to see new characters? Or he can end up with Kairi...Somehow I adore the idea of Sora staying single...i like it more that Riku staying single...Sora can be a free spirit becuase he is way to sexy to be claimed by anyone Female. All hail the Sora Fanclub :fangirl:
coughRiku x Kairicough :huggle:
hehehe that would be te canon..I.E "the siznitz"
Alantie - December 6, 2006 09:02 PM (GMT)
*looks at Wintercream, astounded* You're using me as a human shield? :o :P
Rofl. That's the way it is with all the bishies fangirls love. They want them to stay single. ^_^ That way, we are free to claim them. A single Sora wouldn't stay single for very long! :plot:
Eh, I dunno Wintercream, I like Sora and Kairi together, though I have been known to have a fondness for Namiku fanfiction *hides* Which is basically the same as pairing Riku up with Kairi. . . *sigh* I dunno. I honestly like Riku better off single. It makes him kinda more hot, lol.
NekoDono - December 6, 2006 09:52 PM (GMT)
I'm sorry but I always saw Sora and Riku as kinda...well...homosexual. It was mostly the KH2 Ending. They were always a breath away from kissing when Sora was helping him walk and when they were on the beach. (I can't believe I, the founder of "They're Just Friends!" is saying this...) But homosexuality in asian culture is rather common so really, I am not too shocked. Although, it is obvious that SoraxKairi and RoxasxNamine is canon, leaving Riku all by his lonesome, the romantic undertones of Riku and Sora's "friendship" can't very well be ignored.
I'm being serious, just to tell you. This is my honest opinion.
Ally McBeal - December 7, 2006 07:03 PM (GMT)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAY ROXETTE IS CANON!!
riku and namine forever!!!!.. lol
poor riku..can you imagine him....must be sad..seeing the girl you like,or liked(kairi) with your best friend sora.....
Wintercream - December 8, 2006 12:53 AM (GMT)
-smiles at Ally McBeal-
Thank you finally somebody who can see my point.....and yes Alantie i am usign you as a human shield.....-hides- please don't hurt me...
anyways i love yaoi and shonen-ai in all but some pairings just make me mad...for example the pairing of Sora x Riku..that makes me angrey becuase niether of them are homosexual and in the game they are just helping each other as friends...apparently some people see that guys cannot be sentimental with each other..."LAWLOARZ"

Riku is like Sasuke of Naruto, better off without a girl and alone, and that alone satisfies his fans. T_T on the other hand, if there is at least one woman to be with him, it would be (dont.kill.me.) Namine. XD

But the problem with that is Namine is an extension of Kairi, most likely reflecting Kairi's obviously romantic feelings for Sora on to Roxas. Really, I can't see RikuxNamine at all because of her direct tie to Kairi. :ermm:
Alantie - December 8, 2006 03:19 PM (GMT)
I'm not big on yaoi myself, so I don't really see the whole Riku/Sora thing. They are both too much in love with Kairi to go for each other IMO :P

That's actually kinda why I like it. Riku falls for Namine because she's a part of Kairi, but its a oneway romance, and really kind of tragic  She loves Roxas/Sora, and returns back to her true self, leaving poor lil Riku all alone
I'm all for NaiminexRoxas though, because its SoraxKairi. So cute! And that hand reach scene between Roxas and Namine reminds me of Clerith so much!
Also. . .someone explain this to me. I don't understand how people can hate Sora but love Roxas when they are the same person. Same for Namine and Kairi. Do they just not see them that way? *is confused*
Kuki Prower - December 8, 2006 03:33 PM (GMT)
I think we're straying off topic here, anyway I cannot see KH without Sora. I can't really see anyone else interacting with the Disney characters and taking the place of the personality that Sora had. He himself is the key to the KH series in my opinion.
I still haven't played KH2 yet and I don't really intend to, but as for pairings, let Riku remain single and I liked SoraxNamine a lot better than SoraxKairi in CoM. But then again I can't stand SoraxKairi xD

Eh, Sora/Namine fan here.(It's my answer to Sokairi...?) But Riku should be single, in my opinion. Let the fangirls went ca-razy over an older!Riku. Who knows what'll happen if a Riku pairing was canon.
Anyway, I guess I don't mind Sora coming back for another adventure.'Cuz he made Halloween outfits look sexy. Though...
I've been having this weird thoughts lately...(yes, a big rip-off, so what?) Like, what if Sora was the reincarnation of the guy in the KH3 pics? (There, now that'll stop it from nagging me.)

But Sasuke from Naruto is with Sakura in later episodes...when Sakura confesses her love towards sasuke before he knocks her out he says "as you wish" but inside his mind he was crying out "i love you too"
as for namine and riku....that doesnt sound like a good match
NekoDono - December 9, 2006 02:37 AM (GMT)
My hopes belong still with a mature hero (perhaps an older Sora). Riku could perhaps be the man watching Destiny Island, taking care of the people as a middle aged Sora continues questing. I also think it'd be cute seeing a mature man interacting with Disney character. That mix of yin and yang could make for a good joke. ^^ Auron was cute in KH2 so why not?
rawr89 - December 9, 2006 02:58 AM (GMT)
ok first of all sora yes he should be the hero of the story, and rikuxnamine....no thats is one crazy coulpe and it dosnt make sense. and two kairi is quite blunty in love with sora and yeah abit annoying kinda like kagome from inuyasha. roxas is a refelection of sora or a nobody if you wanna get technical and namine is kairi's nobody or reflection and in the story line namine falls in love with him...and its kinda cute.
