Title: Disasters In The Name Of Fashion

Tacofoolio - November 22, 2006 05:13 PM (GMT)
After my experience right now, I decided we need a thread to discuss fashion makeovers/whatnot gone wrong! From crazy hair disasters to wardrobe malfunctions, to whatever else you can think of, let's hear it.

I have officially learned that Taco + Self Tanner = NO WAY. My helpful mother-in-law gave me some self tanner saying how cute I'd be with a tan. Eventually I figured, what the heck, let's give it a shot. So I put the self tanner on last night, and it looked fine, and I went to sleep happy. Well I woke up this morning, and currently I have more stripes than a zebra. So after cursing up a storm and getting laughed at, I am exfoliating like crazy this very minute, and thank god it's helping. On the bright side, my body is getting smoother than ever with all this scrubbing! :lmao: I have more I can add too, but I'll stick with this current disaster. >_<

....:lmao:!!!!!!!!!!!!! The image of Stripey!Taco is just too HILARIOUS!!! *Laughs self silly* O-oh, I'm sorry sweet heart! You're just so darn cute...xD
A tip: Avoid the insta-tan stuff, as it's really hard to get to look right. Try the gradual tan lotions, that's what I use and they work REALLY well. It takes about a week to get the color you want, but it's worth it, and it's more natural than suddenly changing color over night (Or gaining stripes  )

I haven't had any TERRIBLE fashion disasters so far in my life, I tend to be really careful cuz I'm so vain. Although my outfits on laundry day can be pretty interesting :D

LOL, yeah usually tans that you can just rub in, or spray on have to be applied carefully. I've tried it before, and I looked pretty silly afterwards...
I would try to actually go to the tanning booth if you really want a good, easy, natural tan. My siblings having been telling me to go tanning, but... I don't really want to. Meh white pasty skin is LURVE. XD But, I will admit it sure is a nice feeling having golden tan skin.... :beach: Thats why I miss the summer so much.... the damn snow and cold weather is going to be around for another 4 months...*cries*

I've had some pretty bad moments.

This past May, I went to the hair salon, and my mom decided to let me get highlights for the first time for Prom. So, I told the hair dresser that I wanted auburn highlights. My hair is very dark brown, and my skin is really pale, so I wanted something kind of red to brighten my cheeks.

Apparently, my hair dresser was a moron. She gave me BLONDE highlights, and it looked absolutely awful. It just did not mesh well with my natural hair color or my skin. The worst part is, the highlights still haven't grown out.

I did that tan stuff once and I was half brown and half white, cause I only covered my hips down. :lmao: Gawds. I was known as miss hawaiian tropic all week. :swoon:

My worst fasion would be when I bought this pretty shirt and I was sitting with guys and I leaned over and my boob fell out infront of them. My second would be the time I was clogging and my dress fell down infront of everyone. My third would be when I bought make-up and I didn't know it was old and it turned my face black. :lmao:

I've had so many fashion disasters. :lmao:

Sefie's so meen! *is laughed at* T_T :lmao: I think I'm going to just avoid the stuff for now, but I might eventually try that. I thought this stuff wasn't going to be so dark, but then again, I thought it'd look normal too!

Sadhana, I know exactly what you mean! I've had similar experiences myself, I always say red but get blonde >_< I've finally gotten it nice though, red with blonde. I hate getting it so it's like a bunch of blonde lines with dark brown, which so many stylists love to do it seems.

Poor Freya! :huggle: I've had my share of disasters, but so far no really bad wardrobe malfunctions!

Ok, next story, my worst hair dye experience!

Well, my mom loves to think she's great at dying hair, and also is very cheap. Bet you know where this is going. One day, my mom decided it'd be great if she gave me highlights, so she got a bunch of tin foil and bleach. I wasn't so sure about it, but she was determined. So I sat there, and waited, thinking, well, it couldn't get too bad. I was very wrong.

So naive me sat there thinking that the wait was the bad part, then calmly let my mom wash out the bleach, but suddenly she started crying. I instantly realized crying was not a good thing, and asked her what was wrong. She couldn't say a word, so I ran to the mirror. Behold, half my hair was blonde, the other half orange. My reaction? I laughed hysterically as my mom kept crying and apologizing.

The next day, I went to school. Yeah right. The next day, I wore a hat and went to the nearest salon. The second I revealed my hair, the stylist's face turned from happy perkyness to horror. She gasped loudly, and as another stylist turned around, she gave a small scream. I just wanted to put my hat back on, but then they took me to the back and spent several hours on my hair, eventually turning it a nice red color and telling me never to let my mom near my hair again. I've stayed true to that one.

Everyday for me is a fashion disaster and I really don't care. It's not like I am whoring myself out to attract a suitable male for my unborn children or anything. I wear mainly black with the odd touch of white. I go for comfort, and when I'm feeling a little detail oriented, maybe a little bit of fishnet. Oh, and let us not forget the chains. The chains are love.

But I absolutely DIE when I can see my natural roots, ZOMGWTF. JUST DIE. Well... Whenever I actually try to dye my hair anyway.

But hey, for a laugh:

hahah! I dont really care about what I wear either, nor do I care what others think of me when I'm wearing FUNKY clothes lol! I'm all for comfort, not for fashion.

but I love my hoodies and jeans! ohhh and sneakers too! and yus CG gotta love 'em chains!

Fashion disasters are my stock and trade. I typically wear bright blue, green, or purple slacks with an open Hawaiian shirt and brightly colored T-shirt that clashes with it all.

Yeah it's different than everybody else and can be an eyesore, but I figure when you';ve found a look that you like, go for it. If somebody else don't like it, that's there problem not mine.
