Title: Survival Horror Games

Marionette - January 17, 2005 06:01 AM (GMT)
So, is anyone a Survival horror fan? (Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Siren, Fatal Frame etc..)
It's my favorite genre for video games. I'm currently playing Resident Evil 4 for the gamecube it's such an awesome game!

Andina - January 18, 2005 01:59 AM (GMT)
I do remember playing the very first Resident Evil. I loved that game! It was truly scary at times (at least back then). I did have the chance to try the other Resident Evil games as well but didn't really care for them that much...

OMG i love all resident evil games played most and loved the second movie on it and silent hill rox all parts, and finished it all to 4. :D*not really ma brother did hehehe* i juss watched im a loser LOL

Yup-yup, another survival horror lover here. Resident Evil was one of my first games, and I loved it despite the really dodgy voice acting, because I loved the thrill of going into an unentered room and not knowing whether a zombie was going to leap out at me. I wasn't all that good at games though, back then, so I prefered Jill's scenario to Chris' (more item space, the lockpick, Barry) because it was easier. Res 4's out in Europe soon, I hear. Shame I don't have a Gamecube.

Silent Hill was the scariest game I ever played, the first one made me feel like in real life I was in a bad dream and I couldn't get out until I completed the game. There were crashes and bangs when nobody was there! EEK! I didn't like SH2 as much as the original because James reminded me too much of Bryan Adams and I couldn't take him seriously after that! (Whenever my brother came into the room while I was playing it he'd break into a rendition of 'Summer of 69')

And Fatal Frame... wow. I got hold of both last year, and I really enjoyed both of them. I think the fact they were both set in Japanese villages/mansions was a real bonus for me because I've always been interested in Japanese style architecture. It was fun to try capturing all the vanishing ghosts and get the camera upgrades. In Crimson Butterfly, Mayu really annoyed me, though. She was too dependent on Mio, and I hated having to run after her all the time. Chitose was so sweet, though. I felt so sorry for her. :sniff:

Has anyone played Forbidden Siren? Now there's a scary game. You have to escape a city full of undead villagers, but you don't have a weapon. The player has to rely on 'sightjacking', using psychic abilities to see through the enemies' eyes and find out where they are so that they can be avoided. It's getting difficult, though, as in the latest mission I have to use a sniper rifle, which is really slow. T_T

Marionette - January 20, 2005 02:25 AM (GMT)
Ah, yes Forbidden Siren. I thought it was a good game I like the sighjacking it's very original but it took me sometime for me to get used to it. Also I thought the game was hard at times. I died SO many times but it was a very addictive and fun game I couldn't stop playing, which reminds me, I need to re-rented it so can finally finish it. ^_^;
I don't know who Bryan Adams is, sorry :P *feels stupid*
But Silent Hill 2 is my favorite out of the series I don't know I just love everything about it the Atmosphere, music, story, and Characters it's one those games I don't get tired of playing.

Anyway, there is a new game coming out called Haunting Ground and from what I read and seen it's looks very interesting. Here check the site if you want to find out more about it.

The whole premise of having a dog helping you out with puzzles and protecting you intrigues me and I'm looking forward to this game.

 Leon is hot indeed!

Krauser is not that hard to beat just take out a powerful weapon like a shotgun, or something and shoot him at his legs, when he kneels in pain now is a good chance to shoot him on his face, he should be dead in no time.

I LOVE survival horror. I have all RE and SH games. And now I'm pretty much at the end of RE4 since I only got it a couple days ago. But yeah, Leon is definately my favorite character. He has been since RE2. He makes guns look sexy.

Materia Thief - February 5, 2005 06:10 AM (GMT)
I love survival horror games, although I'm not quite sure they're good for my sleeping habits. ^_^

My favorite is actually Fatal Frame though, just because I like the whole 'ritual' aspects to it.

Lockheart - November 22, 2005 08:14 AM (GMT)
oh! i actually beat the ps2 version of resident evil 4 less than a week ago! heh... i think i played TOO carefully because in the end i had LOTS of ammo and herbs and even a rocket launcher left. :D hehe i also played a demo of Fatal Frame and heard its story. scary but... it doesnt scare me

I'm just the person to play a bit of everything, including survival horrors that interests me.

Actually, the first survival horror game I've played is Hunter: The Reckoning at a friend's house, in 2-player mode. I have SO much fun playing as Defender, hacking away at zombies and such with a sword and other weapons we found lying about. Heck, my friend goes crazy with his character (Judge) using a chainsaw!

At times, some levels DO freak me out at times. Like in second stage, you have to protect a young girl from being attack, while escorting her to meet her parents to the church in the middle of a cemetry. We have to replay few times since she kept on dying. But not as much as when we battle an evil-possessed giant teddy bear she have which turn against us!

Anti-R - November 22, 2005 06:33 PM (GMT)
Oh no! SC is after Leon too! My favorite also since RE2... XD.

Couldn't finish Silent Hill and the sequels, because it successfully scared me from even trying to play it.

Heard of Fatal Frame, never got a copy of it though.

Marionette - December 28, 2005 12:39 PM (GMT)
Did anybody get Fetal Frame 3? (I believe it came out sometime in November) I was wondering if it's any good.

Amathala - December 28, 2005 01:50 PM (GMT)
Survival Horror...........SCARY! I own Silent Hill 4, but cant play it, I'm too scared. And the rabbit in whatever her names room...it moved! EEEK!

My cousin has Fatal Frame, and is going to buy Fatal Frame 2. She's beaten 3, said it was good, scary, lots of ghosts. Oh, she's beaten 2 and unlocked all the costumes but one of them, I think. Anyone beaten the first one though? She's stuck on Kirie and gets her butt whomped within like 4 seconds LOL.

Also, Clock Tower 3 is scary as well, Kuon is too...for some reason my cousin's friend is obsessed with renting the games from GameFly but she wont play them. She waits until my cousin gets together and makes my cousin play them because for some reason she doesnt jump as easy as I do.

Lynn - December 28, 2005 04:14 PM (GMT)
Ah, survival horror... My first foray was through RE2 (and since Leon was the hottest thing on two legs I'd seen back then, of course I've loved him ever since) but I got so scared playing it, I stopped and never continued. I don't think I ever made it out of that damned police station.

I'm sorry, Leon. Even I can't risk exploding my heart to save you from the man-eating zombies.

I've never been able to get far in ANY of the survival horror games I've tried, sadly. I just get too scared! Argh! >_<

I watched a friend play Fatal Frame 1 and 2 at his house. I loved the ancient Japanese village it took place in, as well as the backstory involved and the rituals and... but again, it was scary as all hell for me. I kept hiding behind a pillow as he played it! It doesn't help that you're using a bloody CAMERA, which means you actually have to LOOK at the ghosts to kill them!

But my small heart is not really suprising. I got scared playing Tomb Raider, for crying out loud, worrying that a crocodile would eat me when I swam underwater.

C-strife - December 28, 2005 10:47 PM (GMT)
I love Survival-horror games!! :woot: SH and RE are awesome!! B)

Maiden - January 3, 2006 09:23 PM (GMT)
fatal frame is my favorite im playing that right now actually :D

The_Krazie_Chick - August 23, 2007 09:23 PM (GMT)
I can only really watch people play survival horror games, I'm too scared to play them myself. I love Silent Hill 4, it scares the hell out of me. Oh, was that one with the dog and the girl named Fiona called Haunting Ground? I loved that one, too. Although I wouldn't let my brother try to get the "bad" ending...because I basically forced him to treat the dog right. xD
