Making use of this thread!

You know that part after you get the Dawn Shard and there's a billion cutscenes? Well I kinda had to skip through most of them, sadly. I got past Vossler but I had to skip all the scenes that led into whatever mission I'm on now. Something about the Giza Plains? If anyone could tell me what happened during those cutscenes, I'd be grateful.

After Vossler?

Well, the party decided to lay low in Rabanastre for a while. Ondore commented in memoirs that Ashe could have made a choice to declare her appearance to the people now that she has the dawn shard as proof (since Rasler's ghost showed up and gave the shard to her after Leviathan blew up). But decided not to, since she knew that even if she can rightfully have the throne, she has no power to defend them from the Empire's retaliation.

And so Ashe, seeing how powerful the Nethicite is, decided she wanted to know how to use it (because her ancestor, Raithwall, used such a power that enable him to unify the nation, and brought years of peace even after his death). Fran suggested they visit the Garif in Jahara village, since they practically worship magicite, they might know something about Nethicite.

Ashe asked Balthier and Fran to aid them. Balthier wanted payment and said one of her rings would suffice. Ashe gave it grudgingly, in which Balthier remarked he'll return it once he found a better treasure.

Meanwhile in Archadia the Senate was voicing a sour opinion on Vayne being the Dalmascan consul. They convinced the Emperor to bring him back, or else. Since they have stated that they won't mind having Larsa as an emperor.

Back to the team, Balthier commented that Giza Plains is now in a rainy season, so areas that you can't reach are now open. Head south until you reach Ozmone Plains, head west to get to Jahara.

Thanks, this helped tons! I finally got to the village. ^_^; Although in one of my saved games I'm still in Rabanastre because I keep hearing about this "Viera Soulmate" sidequest and I wanted to try it out.

I was actually happy I got to fight Vossler, I admit, because he was the weakest one in my party and always made me waste Phoenix Downs saving him. T_T;

I think I fouled up on the Viera sidequest as well. >.<

Let me know if you got something out of it...

There isn't much to that sidequest. It's not long or in-depth or anything. Hardly worth it unless you're really early in the game.

Most sidequests kinda sucked for me since I started doing them all when I was 90% done the story and I had most of the best items already. :cry:

Well, she was shouting his name through the phone transmitter, seeming very worried with the "You mustn't die!" thing. And not a word for Fran. <_<
But in the second part of the ending, Penelo says something that kinda suggests Basch x Ashe. :unsure:

I'm only 4 hours into the game, but Balthier and Fran seem pretty close. :)

Ashe's pleas with Balthier to return to the ship was a bit more suggestive of her feelings for him in the Japanese version. She was all "If you die, I... I..."

But I don't think she fell in love with him. I think his charisma musta gotten to her. xD She'd been in solitude for such a long time and he--along with Vaan, really, but Vaan isn't nearly as charming as Balthier... I think she felt more of an affinity to him--sort of made her feel things by questioning her motives and want for power and even opening up a bit to her by explaining his situation with his father (he should've explained further... I want to know more about him as Judge and his life as Ffamran).

But yeh, Ashe made me oing? when she was screaming for Balthier to come back. What about Fran? It seemed like all of them forgot Fran had followed along. :/

Maybe because Balthier seems to be the one who has the radio? Fran didn't get to say anything to them either.

I simply chalk it up to SE plot holes... the same way why the FFX party would angst about Tidus, but didn't bat an eyelash when Auron went away first. 0.o;

But yes, the Japanese version Ashe is implying something personal. But NA Ashe seems to be worried for Balthier as a comrade.

I was surprised at the ending when Penelo suggest Basch and Ashe. Didn't expect that at all.

The Basch x Ashe hinting was the best. Nothing more than implications on Penelo's part but still... she misses his company! xD This just reminds me of an absolutely hilarious comic strip this one fan drew:

Does anyone know when exactly in the game did they show Balthier(?) with a baby?

After you beat the game and the credits roll, a bunch of artworks pass on screen.

But it isn't Balthier with a baby, it's Dr Cid holding a baby Balthier. Dunno what those crazy people are talking about when they say it's Balthier holding a baby Viera but they need to get themselves a pair of decent glasses, methinks.

Frealz? Then what's all this nonsense about Viera being female-only (something about it being mentioned in FFT... I've never played FFT so I wouldn't know)? Roar.

I think it's because all we actually see is female Viera. :giggle: Males exist, but are rarely seen.

Okay, I haven't played this game yet (not planning to read these spoilers from you guys)...and so you might all be wondering what I'm dong in here, but I just wanted an honest opinion from someone who has actually played the game. :P

Just out of curiosity, does this game contain much of any love story at all? From what I've been hearing, it doesn't seem like it. *is so used to romances in the world of Final Fantasy*
If not, I guess I wouldn't be too surprised, considering that the team who made this game is the same one who made games like FF: Tactics and Vagrant Story.

There are some implications on some couples, but it's not celebrated in the game whatsoever.

XII deals more on the political side of the country they're in than interpersonal relationships, and it shows. Thus why some gamers complained that XII lacks character development. I quite disagree on that though... the problem is because no one in the main characters of six are doing romantic overtones, nor do they have identity conflicts. Vaan will never angst who he is because he knows who he is and where he came from. Ashe, despite that she is pegged as the "Chosen One" hasn't done fantastical things like her predecessors did (Aerith with Holy, Yuna with all those Aeons, etc).

Basch, Balthier and Fran had difficult pasts, but they all managed to put it behind them and move forward. They've done so prior the game, so they don't have any transitional scenes whatsoever.

Not really. The closest thing to a "love story" would probably be the love Ashe has for her dead husband Rasler.

There are implications of relationships between the other characters, but it is nothing to the point where anything can be proven canon or are explicitly stated.

Except later for <<Vaan and Penelo. In Nelo's profile for Revenant Wings, she is explicitly stated as being his girlfriend and one who supports him.>> However, it seems more like a tossup in the original FFXII.

As far as I've known she's been his girlfriend all along. Even before the game came out in the USA weren't there sources saying that Square had said she was his girlfriend on the Japanese sites? Something like that anyway >_> I have idea exactly where this was said or where these people got their information from but I do remember people talking about it xD

I mean there must have been something ... to base off ... because most people would never in a million years expect the apparent male lead to -

As far as I know, those were all rumors. The offical statements all over SE products are that she's like his sister.

Well, there IS the "these two (Vaan and Ashe) has the possibility to fall in love, but not with each other" line from SE.

I dont really like Vaanelo at all and I havent even played the game yet (go go living in the UK!) but i've watch and read stuff about it, but i suppose untill i play it i cant say how much i will dislike Penelo.

The bunny people remind me of Mithra from FFXI, dont see the men just dozens of feline women.

I prefer Vaan/Penelo MUCH more than any other couple that involves Vaan any day. And I personally don't see what is so horribly disgusting about it. I only have one issue with it and that is it would break a lovely platonic friendship that doesn't need any more emotional involvement. But it's much more believeable than Vaan/anyone else in the whole freaking game, yus. :whistle:

But seriously. I think Ashe/Vaan beats Vaan/Penelo into the ground. Vaan and Penelo are like brother and sister which is what grosses me out, and I can't help but picture the two of them thinking the same thing. They literally grew up together as brother and sister - Penelo's family adopted him. They cling to each other because they are the only family they have.

Besides, Vaan and Ashe actually grow character wise together and have more chemistry in one scene than I ever felt with Vaan/Penelo. Vaan GOT HER TO SMILE. I almost fell over in shock.

Plus uh, Penelo x Larsa is sexier than everything.

Did you see Pen-chan's clothes in the Revenant Wings trailer tho? It's the same as the one she's wearing at the ending and the waist is SO low it's a wonder you can't see her girly bits.

Well, Basch did suggest Ashe can run off/get kidnapped if she wanted to. XD
