Title: Orange Crush
Description: A Harry/Ginny club!
Kusari Yarou - October 22, 2006 06:22 AM (GMT)
I'm quite tired of hearing this couple--and Ginny's character--- bashed everywhere I go, or people saying that JKR is an eval mean bitch for getting them together. So here's a club to celebrate the pairing I always thought would be canon, since Ginny ran after Harry's train at the station!
The club's name comes from the "official" ship name for H/G in the Harry Potter fandom :)

Yay! Joining!
I also hate fanfiction authors who are ahead of themselves and they think a) they know the characters better and B) they're better writers than JK Rowling. I want them buried. 50 feet under. With concrete.
Morons. *is annoyed*
Back to topic, yes will join. Ginny doesn't deserve the hate, and Rowling knows what she's doing ever since Harry saved Ginny in Chamber of Secrets. And Harry wasn't being an idiot for falling in love with her.
EDIT:

Cuza Ginny's hair I 'spect B)
Sign me up! I just finished writing a rant on Gaia about the assumed "character rape"
First of all Hermione, who's gotten the biggest changes. We were all shocked to see rule loving Hermione Granger turn into a jealous harpy and fling birds at Ron's head.
But have we EVER seen Hermione get jealous before? Has she ever had REASON to get jealous before? No. I think it all lies in the the Lavender situation. All of a sudden Ron, who Hermione's had all to herself, has a GIRLFRIEND. This has never happened before, and unfortunately Hermione's rather bad side comes out. She even goes so far as to date McLaggen to get back at Ron.
Harry's change of character isn't that big in my eyes, although some say his crush on Ginny was very unrealistic. Yeah well, it really wasn't. In fact, I think it's the most realistic of ALL the couples. Teenagers don't spend YEARS developing their crushes, usually it happens in a few months(or heck, days depending on the person!). So why is it so strange that Harry should develop feelings for Ginny(Who's finally opened up around him) after spending all summer with her, and then most of the school year with her? Heck, take a peak at Lavender and Ron, nobody's calling HER crush unrealistic, and it developed over the summer!
Speaking of Ginny, she finally comes out of her shell and everyone screams OOC? The other Weasly's TOLD us that she acted unusual around Harry, and we even got to see a bit of the real her(CoS when she defended him against Malfoy "Harry didn't want that!"). There's a great and realistic explanation for her coming out- Hermione told her it would work better at getting Harry's attention, and it DID!
As for Ron, eh he's always been a little immature. I didn't really see too much change with him. I was dissapointed in his relationship with Lavender and how he treated Hermione, but JK felt it necessary for him to mature a little and have a meaningless relationship before he'd be worthy of Hermione.
Copied and pasted!
Yeah, I'm really SICK of hearing people say "I would've written it better!" (I'm looking at YOU Nyrin!) Sorry guys, get back to me when you're the richest person in your country, have touched millions of hearts, and have an insanely popular novel series we'll talk.
Honestly, JKR is allowed to do with her books as she sees fit, and seeing as she's had the whole thing outlined for YEARS, I'd say Harry/Ginny is definatly not just something she thought up last minute.
Ho yaiz, sign me up plz ^_^

Eheheheh. I see this is going to be both a club AND a place to rant about some of the haterz
I have SO many things I wanna say. Starting with...I'm sick of people cheering "Yay, H/G broke up in the end!". Uh, hello, don't the words 'total equals', 'worthy of each other' and 'I didn't want Ginny to be the first girl Harry ever kissed' mean anything to you??? JKR is making it crystal clear that Ginny was the one being primed to be his love interest from the very beginning, that the break-up happened not because he doesn't care about her, but because he cares too much.
It's like Emerson(of Muggle.net) said:

Well, to be honest, I never found out just why it was called that(just like I never did get why H/Hr is "The Pumpkin Ship"), just that it was the name used in ship wars and debates. But I'll try to find out why!
Sefie - October 24, 2006 06:41 PM (GMT)
I thought H/Hr was Harmony?
Ah yes, the "Breakup". Harry broke up with her to protect her, not because he doesn't love her. After he defeats Voldemort they can GET BACK TOGETHER.
And what I love is the H/Hr fans that are still hoping. Give it up guys. She called you delusional. "It's been Ron and Hermione from the beginning". DO THE WORDS "ANVIL SIZED HINTS" MEAN ANYTHING!? How's about "Ginny's the ideal woman for Harry"?

Me agrees...except I don't think they'll get back after he defeats Voldie. I think it will be during...y'know, that reconciliation-in-a-war-torn-battlefield thing ;) I think Ginny, Neville, and Luna will be in charge of the DA, and somewhere between fending off Death-Eather attacks, their paths will cross with horcrux-hunting Harry.

Uhhh... the fact Harry gave the reason for cooling off was already there in print, he wanted to protect her. Compare it with his breakup with Cho. o.0;
Yeah, that says a lot.
Seriously, I can't believe there're people out there saying Harry's doing this because he doesn't like Ginny anymore. Can't they read?
Sefie - October 26, 2006 03:19 AM (GMT)
Oh, I think they're just being hopeful, saying "Well hey! They broke up! Harry and Hermione have a chance!"
Which is also stupid as all get out, but whatev.

Yeah, they can, they are just in the very deepest throes of denial
They know that Harry and Ginny are going to get back together one way or the other in book 7. They're just biding the time till the book is released by being brats, whining, trying to make life harder for canon shippers.

*snort* What cracks me up more are those who say "JKR subconsciously wrote Harry/Hermione, only she didn't realize it!"
I don't understand how anyone can 'subconsciously' write something she is so very repulsed by. JKR was pretty conscious when she made an EW! face at the mention of HHr, when she blatantly made it the only fanon ship to be constantly denied in the books, when she poked fun at it by those hints with Pig and the hippogriff, when she made jokes about H/Hr shippers ambushing R/Hr shippers in dark alleys...and ALL those remarks in her interviews.
QUOTE
She called you delusional.
Well, she didn't directly do that, Emerson did. One of the benefits of being an R/Hr and H/G shipper: being able to laugh at all the guy's jokes in Mugglenet XD
Anti-R - November 3, 2006 07:18 AM (GMT)
JKR actually made a disclaimer for that. I'm surprised people would burn her for a word she didn't even say.
Price of success, I guess.
Kusari Yarou - November 24, 2006 09:44 AM (GMT)
This is the best post-Quidditch kiss Harry/Ginny fic. EVER.Was browsing my Photobucket and found quite a few H/G pics, so I thought I'd share them:
Smooching in the Leaky Cauldron. Kinda steamy :P Live with it, Ron!
Just another portrayal of the Common Room kiss!. I like it 'cause the Ginny here looks more like the one in the film, so I get to imagine what it's gonna be like in Movie 6!
The Final Battle. Eh, I don't really like how Ginny is drawn, but Harry looks awesome!
Simply lovely :fangirl:
My fave H/G scene in Half-Blood Prince!Non-HG stuff:
The Sextet, off to battle! My fave R/Hr scene in HBP!

Any predictions for our oh so cannon couple for book 6?
Edit: Page two :o
Anti-R - January 24, 2007 01:48 AM (GMT)
I don't think Rowling can afford to put a lengthy mushy romance for Harry... it's gonna go to Ron and Hermione. This is the last book, their relationship buildup from the past stories will reach there.
Harry would be more focused on facing Voldemort and getting rid of him once and for all than thinking about romance, IMHO.

Yup, she hooked them up pretty darn quick in book six!

Not to mention how Snape and Draco would fit in to the whole picture of it all. And Regulus and Wormtail. And Neville. He's practically foreshadowed as an important role.

Totally. Book 7 had better be like...three times the length of Phoenix!

Any predictions for our oh so cannon couple for book 6?
I think a lot of hardcore H/G fans overestimate Ginny, like predicting that she will be the key to defeating Voldemort in 7, or a big romantic saga between her and Harry. On the other side of the spectrum, Ginny haters are just hoping she’ll die a pathetic death, ultimately unloved by Harry(who finds happiness with Hermione, Luna, or, I dunno…The Squid).Well they’re wrong of course; Ginny will *definitely* play a role in the battle. JKR already said that we will see more impressive stuff from her.
I do think there will be romantic interaction between them, though it will probably not be as big as the conclusion of the Ron/Hermione story. What I feel about Ginny is, she’s not simply ‘Ron’s sister who was briefly Harry’s girlfriend and’. She is *the* girl, the one who was there all along, *the* love interest, being built up for that role from her first appearance. Harry’s statement of “I wish I had asked you sooner, we could have had ages…” shows that he was thinking along the same lines, aka ‘I wish I could’ve realized sooner that you were *the* girl’
But back to Ginny’s role. Love is the series’ foundation, the key to defeating Voldy, and Harry will find it in ALL his loved ones, not just Ginny… Ron, Hermione, DA et al=love from friends, The Weasley = love from family. Ginny would equal romantic love.
What I don’t get is why everyone is so upset by it :P Some fans are disturbed by the idea that the big romance of Book 7 will be between Ron and Hermione, the hero’s sidekick’s romance, rather than his own. Haters are sneering at the thought that there probably won’t be any cuddletime between the two, no time for a ‘proper’ relationship and if there won’t, then hooking them up in Book 6 was useless(as if he could juggle romance and Voldemort if he were with any other girl).
What I’m sure of is that the H/G story was left hanging, they still have feelings for each other, and it needs to be resolved. I only hope it doesn’t end with the death of one of them
Anti-R - January 28, 2007 08:47 AM (GMT)
But Harry already had his romance in Book 6. @.@ He has to look for the other magical stuff that has Voldemort's pieces of his soul, he has to make resolutions with the people he hates, he has to find resolution to the people who died (I have a strange feeling the Potters and Sirius would at least say their last hurrah) and to fight the big bad wizard himself.
I can't see how romance in his part can fit in, honestly. Ron and Hermione would take precedence in this.
Sefie - January 29, 2007 04:01 AM (GMT)
I agree with Anti here. I think that at the end of the book Harry and Ginny will hook back up, now that the reason he broke up with her is gone.
And us RonxHermione fans need a good ending too! :fist:

Erm, you mean you can't see them making romantic interaction at all?
I mean Voldemort's weakness is
love after all. I think that Harry will find strength in the people who loves him, that his ability to love really is a 'big deal' as he called it in HBP. And Ginny's definitely one of those people. She's gotta at least go through one crisis with him, or be in one battle...JKR said we (and therefore Harry, since the books are from his POV) will see her again in action, right?
I'm holding out for
a dance at Bill and Fleur's wedding, at least!
QUOTE

I was thinking it would be cute if the epilogue scene JKR mentioned would be their wedding, with Harry and Ginny as the best man and maid of honor. :P No, I didn't pull that out of nowhere, JKR has said that there will be two couples who will get married.
...But she also said it will be "a student"(Fleur with Bill, of course) and "a teacher", so we'll prolly see Tonks and Lupin get married instead.
Sefie - January 30, 2007 02:15 AM (GMT)
Huh? When'd she say that Kusari??
Kusari Yarou - January 30, 2007 09:11 AM (GMT)
On the final chapter of Book 7:
QUOTE
"This is the thing that I was very dubious about showing you... (T)his is the final chapter of book seven. This is really where I wrap everything up, it's the epilogue. And I basically say what happens to everyone after they leave school - those who survive - because there are deaths - more deaths coming. It was a way of saying to myself,"Well you will get it, you will get to book seven one day. And then you'll need this!" So I'd just like to remind all the children I know who come around my house and start sneaking into cupboards that it's not there anymore - I don't keep it at home anymore for very, very, very obvious reasons. So there it is."
from the Harry Potter and Me documentary on BBC

She is going to kill again?!?! @.@ Will Rowling ever stop?!
*is emo*
Seriously, though, I wonder who're the characters waiting for the chopping board. Hagrid? Wormtail? Draco? Myrtle (though that may be redundant but who knows)?

Someone Else's Life HARRY:
We’re at the beginning’s end
And there are things that I must do
Face my destiny alone
Teach myself to be brave without you.
You’re stronger than you look, my love
I’ll say it’s to keep you safe from harm
But the truth is, we both know
My thoughts of you will keep me armed
If I wasn’t a marked man
Or had some other name
We’d save ourselves the pain of parting
Leave the world for someone else to save.
If I only could have my way
We’d never say goodbye
But things don’t ever turn out like I plan.
It’s been like something out of
Someone else’s life.
I will come home
More in love with you than I began.
GINNY:
I know that there’s a path ahead
There is a road that you must take
I cannot help you on the way
But I’ll promise you that I can wait
I understand why you must go
There’s a hero that you’re meant to be
Please, don’t kiss me one last time
And I will let you walk away from me.
If I could help the way I felt
We’d never play this game
We’d save ourselves the pain of parting
Leave the world for someone else to save.
If I only could have my way
We’d never say goodbye
But things don’t ever turn out like I plan.
It’s been like something out of
Someone else’s life,
These days with you,
And I will never love another man.
TOGETHER:
The enemy can’t hurt me
As long as you’re okay
I’ll give away my happiness
If it gives us one more sunlit day
If I could only have my way
We’d never say goodbye
But things don’t ever turn out like we plan
It’s been like something out of
Someone else’s life
Till (I/you) come home
I’ll do my best to brave this empty hand…
(You/I) know (I/you) understand…
(Will you ever/I will never)
Love another man...no, I didn't make that up. You can hear it
here It's by a band called
The House Elf Project, and it's classification is, wizard rock.
Yup, you heard me right. Apparently,
Harry Potter has spawned a music genre. :o

Hello. I saw that it has been awhile since anyone posted in this thread. I thought I would update it some. So that being said, I was curious with how everyone felt now that the last book is over. Did the last book live up to what you hoped in regards to Harry/Ginny and Ron/ Hermione?
First off I should say about myself that I am not a die hard Orange Crush fan, I am sorta a H/Hr shipper (gasp I know). I just loved Harry and Hermione since book one and even though I knew they wouldn't be together, I still enjoy the ship. Hey that is what fanfiction is for, right. Rest assure, I am not here to start a debate. I like Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny too....just not as much as Harry/Hermione.
Anyways back to the topic, I must say that I did enjoy Ron and Hermione in the last book. I was a little bit put off that Ron had to use a book to learn how to understand Hermione, but I guess that is just Ron for you. :P Otherwise, I enjoyed them. Harry and Ginny, I must say was missing something for me. I really wish JK Rowling explored more of their relationship or built it up some more in the earlier books; like she did with Ron and Hermione. I would have really loved to have seen Ginny tell Harry that she loved him or vice versa. Since book one, I have always wanted to see someone hold Harry and tell them that they loved him. Ah well. At least I know they are married for 19 years. You can't be married that long without love, right.
So yeah...what was your favorite Orange Crush moments in the last book?
Sefie - March 31, 2008 09:42 PM (GMT)
I was actually really satisfied by HxG in the last book. She waited patiently for him, and Harry wasn't totally obsessed with the thought of her, but I did think the fact that he watched her dot on the Map was really touching.
I was dissapointed by a lack of Ginny hardcoreness. She spent the last battle hiding in the Room of Requirement >.<
But OMFG, RxH was PERFECT. It was so cute and funny that Ron started using a BOOK of all things to win Hermione xD It was nice to see him treating her well though, 'sabout time! And the kiss was fantastic
