Cloud accepted the deal for a date. He didn't ask for money later on. He cared about Aeris and he protected her of his own free will.

I thought their first meeting was cute. I remember my first tiem through the game I didn't do the buy a flower option because I thought it would make Cloud seem protective if he advised her to escape.

In this scene, it shows how mcuh Cloud has changed. Earlier, he didn't ask about other people's lives, but now he asks Aeris about her life and is interested. He asks about her relationship, and takes an interest in her.

Marlene : "Guess what? Guess what? Aerith was asking me lots of questions."
"Like what kind of person Cloud is. I bet she likes you, Cloud!"

Cloud: "Let's hope so."

Barret:
"Don't know... why the hell... we gotta climb..."

Cloud:

It's so adorable how Cloud gets embarassed when Barret brings up his feelings.

This scenes is a lot like the scene with Cecil and Rosa in FFIV. It shows that Cloud and Aeris have a lot of resemblance to other FF pairs.

This scene is so cute. I remember during my second or third time through the scene when I read it, for a minute I took it out of context. I know this may sound silly, but when I was replaying it, for a second I thought that when Cloud said "Can you feel it too?", he meant that he felt that at the moment he reached his promised land with her and asked her is she could feel it as well. Then I realized he was talking about her as well as the cetra, rather then her as well as him. Well, it felt good at that moment. I wish it had been that.
