Title: My Chemical Romance And Afi

BlackWind - October 2, 2006 01:35 AM (GMT)
These have to be the top two favorite bands of mine, tied for first! -laughs- I'm so excited My Chemical Romance has a new CD coming out in a few weeks. The Black Parade...It just looks so awesome! As for the music video for that song, its so good. I never really got into watching music videos, but I've watched "Welcome To The Black Parade" more times then I can count. And Gerard Way's new hair style is quite differant from his previous look, but it still looks pretty good.

AFI too is awesome! I actually saw them in concert about a month ago, and thats what got me into them. I went to a thing in Seattle called Bumbershoot, and they were one of the bands playing....I got hooked right when I saw them step on stage! Decemberunderground is the only CD of theirs I have, but I'm gonna try and get some of their older music too.
Its quite funny. Yesterday I got an AFI poster, and my mom and brother like to discuss whether the lead singer(Uh..Davey or something, right?) is really a guy. Makes me laugh every time.

Eh...they're both ok. MCR had a good second album (Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge). Helena is a good single and has a good video, same goes for I'm Not OK. And most of their songs get labelled emo when there's nothing really emo about them, as the band member's themselves are goths. Yeah, they are catchy and the new single Welcome to the Black Parade is pretty good, so hopefully the Black Parade album will be good too.

AFI...meh. I only like Miss Murder, and that's just because it's catchy. They have some VERY weird fans. Some of them even write fanfictions about the lead singer and the guitarist. I think in some way, they've gotten more publicity because of the lead singer's sexuality (same goes for Placebo, but they are actually a great group). They do write catchy pop-rock songs though, so I'll give them that. :P

You should listen to more of their songs then just the best-known ones. Some of their earlier songs are great. Personally, I think the album "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" is so far their best CD, with songs like "Vampires Will Never Hurt You" along with "Headfirst For Halo's". "Cemetary Drive", though not on that cd, is awesome.

As for Miss Murder...I hate that song. I've heard it so much, I hate it. I skip that song every time I listen to decemberunderground. Its just crappy to me now, its just been overdone. "The Killing Lights" has to be my favorite AFI song so far.

Their pretty good bans. I like My chemical Romance. I like a few of there songs, but they seem pretty emo. :P Which, I don't mind. I wouldn't go out and buy their album, but I do enjoy listening to their music. :)
AFI: Their alright. They have some good songs, "Miss Murder" in particular. :) Some of their band members are pretty hot, and I kinda like teh emoness of them... :plot: Its kinda hot.....

Scott - October 3, 2006 03:18 PM (GMT)
I'm not really buying the "Too emo" thing anymore. Too emo makes it sound like a bad thing to be emo, where as I just plain don't like strong emo music. Doesn't mean I hate the people for singing it

I also meant to say, I have heard Vampires Will Never Hurt You. I just don't think it compares to the Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge album (true, only one song off it, but it is the most famour one). What I do like though is MCR and The Used singing Under Pressure (David Bowie and Queen cover). I think they're REALLY good at this, especially live.

As for AFI, I keep getting told to listen to the song "Girl's Not Grey", I did it, and wasn't impressed. I don't know, they just don't seem like the type of band I like.

lalagirl - October 3, 2006 03:32 PM (GMT)
My Chemical Romance: I love their songs.. especially Ghost of You.. i'm not liking his new haircut... <_<

AFI: one of my favorites too!! XD i love their album, sing the sorrow, and some songs from other albums, like days of the phoenix and god called in sick today (i don't agree much with the lyrics of that song though..)

I adore and love AFI.
MCR just annoys me. They were kool at first. But got more emo and lame.
AFI has been getting more lame lately.
But i still love them.

BlackWind - October 22, 2006 07:35 PM (GMT)
I'll never understand why people just automaticlly classify My Chemical Romance as "Emo". They're getting more REALISTIC with their lyrics. That makes them emo? So, being realistic means you're emo. Got it. <_< Yeah, right, whatever.
Their new CD, coming out on the 24th, is extremely good. "Cancer" is touching, while "Teenagers" States how many teens are.

Also my obsession. ^^

I miss Gerard's sexy black hair. Why, WHY!?! I almost broke my remote after I threw it at the TV, the first time I saw his new 'do. <_<

I think all of the songs on their album "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" are good. They put on a pretty good show, too. I've seen them live twice.

AFI's been around for a long time. I agree, they do have some really weird fans. They came out with a lot of comedy punk-rock songs when they first started as a band. I love their latest two albums the best, I think.

BlackWind - October 24, 2006 01:18 AM (GMT)
TELL ME ABOUT IT! AGG! You know, he looks fine with his new hair style, but I definately loved the old hair better. Long and black and SEXAY.

Three Cheers For Sweet revenge was definately a great CD. I like the song Cemetary Drive off of it the best...And from their new cd, Teenagers and Dead are simply awesome. I love those two.

For AFI, I only got into them with their Decemberunderground CD, but some of their older songs I like too...Some.

TidusBlankety - October 24, 2006 09:11 PM (GMT)
My chemical romance is an awesome band, love'em. But their new stuff...not to excited for. I heard one of their new songs on the black parade, and i think the song was called the black aprade...they dont sound the same any more. Sweet revenge was a great CD, and brought you my bullets was excelent as well...but this new thing im not liking.

AFI is alright i havent heard to much of their stuff but there alright.

Amathala - October 24, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
I dont listen to MCR, so I cant have an opinion on them but....

OMG AFI!!! *squeals*

I love Miss Murder though...it's what got me interested in the band in the first place, even though they've been out for quite a while.

I did buy DecemberUnderground for Miss Murder, but ended up getting hooked on the rest of the songs. I love Prelude 12/21 and Kiss and Control. My fave part in Kiss and Control is when Davey is speaking ^_^.

BlackWind - October 26, 2006 01:25 PM (GMT)
Give their new CD a shot TB, it's pretty good...You can listen to it here...
www.theblackparade.com
For some reason, they released the entire thing on their site.

Miss Murder got me into AFI too. -laughs- The Killing Lights has to be my favorite song so far.

Kaldea - October 26, 2006 06:17 PM (GMT)
I got the new MCR CD and it's really good. It actually has a theme and they stuck with it. I especially love that one song...with "Wolves" in the title. You know... Number 7. I forgot the name, but still! It's awesome. ^_^

And AFI is pretty good too. I really like Miss Murder so it's all good.

Scott - October 26, 2006 06:50 PM (GMT)
I got the Black Parade album and my opinion of MCR has shot through the roof. MCR have done amazing with this album; Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge is RUBBISH compared to this album (I wasn't a huge fan of it anyway, though it did have good songs). The whole theme of the album is a cancer patient, which is depressing already, and it sticks all the way through. It's not a happy album at all, but I think that makes it better. Getting an emotion from songs is something that is amazing. Well done MCR! (But get your old hair back!)

TidusBlankety - October 27, 2006 11:15 PM (GMT)
well i check it out an get back to you guys on what i think about it gimmie a sec...

*goes to see*

*is listening to it*

....hey still doesnt sound like their old selfs...there...too upbeat for what they normally do I think...like it doesnt sound like their normal stuff...i mean its good its alright...granted im only two songs in...but well see...

*listens a while longer*

eh...still ok...they sound good and its nice there staying with the theme of their cd...but...they are playing way to happy and upbeat for their normal stuff...i mean its alright...black parade*the song* is decent...well lets see what else is on here...

*listens some more*

...ok...i dont really like this cd...in opinion(sp?) its...lame

BlackWind - October 28, 2006 12:29 AM (GMT)
Personally, I think its better then any of their other albums, I agree totally with you Scott.
I love their new music more then I've ever loved any song. I love how they made it so depressing...
Kaldea, House Of Wolves?

Kaldea, House Of Wolves?

Yup yup. ^_^

I love this CD more than their others as well. It's different and it has meaning. They took a chance with this one and I admire them even more for doing it. Though my favorite song by them might always be Helena, this CD is the best so far. ^_^

Lutearina - October 28, 2006 04:57 AM (GMT)
AFI - Synesthesia = Aerith. xD

I made a video to that. But, my computer is crap and won't let me save it.

As for My Chemical Romance, I love Helena and Ghost of You - Ghost of You has a video made by me to it, also! xD

Pretty good bands, overall.

BlackWind - October 30, 2006 04:10 AM (GMT)
I totally agree Kaldea. This had to be one of the most risky things they've ever done for sure, and they did AMAZING.
Helena is a favorite of mine =D
