Title: Question!
Description: I'm like totally lost ?!?!

Okay...we all know that Aerith got stabbed and our beloved princess returned to the planet right?! *sniff* Well how come in battle enemies/mosters/turks/etc...have weapons too and they attack the characters we chose in battle. So if the HP of a character reaches 0...they're like dead until the end of the battle then resurrected again. Exactly what's the difference between Aerith's death and battle death. I mean it's practically the same thing right? The enemies just have more crazy-weapons and techniques as Sephiroth. They could've easily stabbed any-one of our characters the same way.
Does that make any sense?!

Yeah, it makes perfect sence. And, ya know I ask that same question. :D But, the only thing I could think of is that, in a battle when a character reaches 0 HP, is that they've only fainted. I mean, their not dead just knocked out. But, your right when the the enemies have weapons and they attack your character.....I really don't know. Aeris's death is one of those things they put in games to keep the player "interested." To keep the story sharp. Us Cleris fans would want to see Cloud avenge his sweetie, so we keep progressing. :cleris:

When your HP reaches 0 you are ko'd, knocked out, rather than dead.

RPG Rule 153:
"Mommy, why didn't they just use a Phoenix Down on Aeris?"
Don't expect battle mechanics to carry over into the "real world."

This question has quiet a simple answer. As Sefie already stated, when your character's run out of HP (HP=0) in battle, it means KO (knock out), not death. You can check that after the battle (assuming you won it). Check your charcaters, and you'll see that the one that had fallen in battle, is still alive, but with almost nothing of HP (HP=1).
Aerith was murdered, she indeed died. That was one of the most (if not the most, that depends on the perspective of the player) important moments in the story.
Needless to say, trying to follow those guides that tell you can resurrect Aerith (usually you'll find some that will tell you that they are the official guides, but those are just lies), is a complete loss of time. Don't follow them.

*Fixed*
In Dragon Quest VIII (I'm not sure if in the previous Dragon Quests as well) if your character died in battle, it indeed died (gameplay-wise not story-wise), and you HAD to resurrect them (if you did not do so, you were't able to use them); thing that you had to do in some temples or with a character that had that ability.

Sefie, you hit the spot. When a character is "killed" in battle, it will either read "KO" or sometimes in games it marks them as being "Near Death". Aerith on the other hand was murdered as Clerith-son stated. It was written in the storyline and was a huge plot tool for VII overall.

Yeah, I had that question in my head too, for some time.
I thought that when the HP reaces 0, the character is put into a comatoze-like state. :P
Since the question has been answered, I'll be closing this thread. :)
