Title: Tgs Trailer Translation (aerith Appearance)

Aerith_kun - September 22, 2006 08:34 PM (GMT)
Ok ok, hereīs the translation of the trailer shown during this TGS. Credit goes to Suzaku, from Advent Children.net

- The dialogue may differ a bit, but the writer only saw the trailer two times, and my translating is a bit rusty.
- The scenes may be a bit out of order.
- Release date was pushed back to 2007.

Scene 0
Zack: "I, I want to help a friend."

Scene 1
The tune is Blasting Mission, and it shows a train running. In the sky, there is a view of Shinra HQ, without the Sister Ray, and suddenly a helicopter enters into view. Zack leaps out, landing on the train, then rises after kneeling a moment. (The quality of his face has been improved.)

Scene 2
- The same scene that was seen in Dorimaga, where Zack is speaking to Sephiroth and their backs are turned.
Sephiroth: "You and I were playing around here and snuck into the room of the 2nds, Angeal and Genesis."
Zack: "We're pals."
Sephiroth: "How about that?" *smiles wryly*

Scene 3
Zack: "An angel...?"
Aerith: "You're shaking." "Surprise."
- Aerith is dressed in clothing similair to her BC clothes, but it's white and sky blue. She's looking over Zack, who it seems has fallen through the ceiling of the church.

Scene 4
Zack: "I have show my gratitude somehow."
Aerith: "Don't mention it."
Zack: "One date!"
Aerith: "Not that! (smiles)"

Scene 5
Aerith speaks while looking at the place where the light is coming through.
Aerith: "It'll be alright, if you bring me some flowers from the outside world."
Zack is sitting, cross-legged, with Aerith behind him. He sobs, and she turns around to hold him.

Scene 6
The scene with Tseng and Zack, talking about his salaray.
Tseng: "Thanks to you, my salary is better than yours."
Zack: "Seriously!?"

Scene 7
The scene where Angeal tells Zack that Sephiroth is waiting.
Angeal: "Sephiroth is calling."
Zack: "Sephiroth!? The hero!?!?"

Scene 8
Zack: "You're a ghost."
Angeal: "What's this, then?"
Two white wings sprout from Angeal's left side and spread open.
Zack: "Angel wings..."
Zack catches one of the feathers which is flowing and dancing in the air.
Zack: "~" - You can't hear it.
Even as Zack looks at Angeal, he doesn't look afraid at all.

Scene 9
Zack turns around, and there's a cross-shaped scar on his cheek.
Zack: "I wouldn't leave you hanging like that." "We're friends, right?"

Scene 10
The scene where Zack says he's never seen Angeal use his sword.
Zack: "I've never seen you use that sword." "If you've got magic, shouldn't you use it?"
Angeal: "If you use it too much, it gets worn out and dirty." "So, isn't a less used one better?"

Scene 11
Scene with Tseng where Zack says "Retrieved, and destroyed..."
(Sorry, forgot what happened)

Scene 12
A bunch of Shinra soldiers gather in front of Zack, all wearing helmets, one appears seperate from the group. Zack places his hand the soldier's shoulder, and the soldier straightens up.
Zack: "So, you wanna be a SOLDIER? Do your best."

Scene 13
Scene with Zack running, holding a phone in one hand and his sword in the other, confronting Bahamut.
Zack: "Aerith? I'll have to get back to you later." "I've got a guest."
Zack puts the phone into his pocket and readies his sword to face Bahamut.
Zack: "I'll try to be a polite host."

Scene 14
Scene with Zack saying "Project G".
Zack: "'Project G'..."
Sephiroth: "'Project Genesis.'"

Scene 15
G is sitting by a window. (I'm starting to forget what happened here.)
G: "Hush, Zack's little dog." (He's being rude)
Tseng is standing with Zack before G.
G: "They kept on betraying me."
2 or 3 shots are fired in Zack's direction. (?)

[Battle scenes]
There is a "slot" thing like in Cait Sith's limit break. Basically what the IGN summary said.

[Summons]
Both Ifrit and Bahamut were scene. It's unknown if they're enemies or if you can summon them.

I like the FFVII "feeling" which it seems to contain, BUT... I donīt like the fact that it looks like all Cleris scenes which we had in the game seems now to be taken from Zeris scenes in this game <_<

Personally, I find it interesting that Aerith playfully reject the offer of a date. Maybe she can sense Zack's not her type...?

Plus, the fact that Zack fell through the ceiling miffed me, but then I remember, Aerith ask for a date with Cloud, who accept it as himself and not out of Zack's memory.

There goes the SOLDIER fanfictions where Zack walked up to Aerith casually. :P

Zack cried!?!?!?!? ZOMG I need to see that.

I wonder why he was crying... ?

I have very mixed feelings about this, but I'm not going to express them here at the moment. I think I need to know the full story before I fully react. @.@

Sounds to me like SE is thoroughly enjoying every bit of the different LTDs.
Leave mah beautiful Cleris scenes alone, SE!

Clerith-son - September 23, 2006 12:04 AM (GMT)
That scene pretty much shows that Cloud ≠ Zack.
Zack offered a date, Cloud was offered one (he wasn't planning on offering one).

Sefie - September 23, 2006 12:36 AM (GMT)
I dunno...it sounds awful SWEET*Does have a bit of a Zeris side* And I can't wait to see the crying Zack scene.
But I am a lil miffed myself by the blatant Cleris rip off. Mebee SE's trying to draw parallels on purpose? Showing us how one cannon couple is like another?

nyrin - September 23, 2006 04:12 AM (GMT)
Zack crying makes me cry  So cute though. I wish I was Aerith in that scene...

And yes, interesting that the Cloud and Aerith's first meeting parallels Zack and Aerith's. Only one key difference: Just like others have said, in the Zeris meeting, Zack asks Aerith for a date, who rejects. In the Cleris meeting, Aerith asks Cloud for a date, who readily accepts. Any thoughts or analysis? There's a lot buzzing through my mind right now but I'm too tired to write anything on it at the moment.

Oh and on a side note, the whole pale blue and white dress thing for Aeris gives me serious Madonna (not the singer, the Mother of God from the Christian Religion, of whom the singer took her name - commonly known as Mary) vibes. In statues and portraits She is also commonly seen wearing pale blue and white which is why Catholic nuns also wear the colour. Considering that she representations purity and of course motherhood (since in the Christian Religion she's the ultimate Mother), I wonder if it's a coincidence that Aeris is wearing those colours? Maybe I've been spending too much time studying for my Bible and Film Class :P

The only one little spark that's keeping me smiling at this point in regards to CC :P
However, we all know they eventually become an item anyhow. She must have accepted the date at one point or another, yes?

Oh, and very interesting thoughts on Aerith's outfit, nyrin.
That never crossed my mind, but it sure is something worth pondering over ^^

He's sitting, and been cross-legged. Man, he's a badass even while crying.

By the way, Why should Aerith turn around if she's behind him?

Agreed. Strong contrast of Zack and Cloud's personalities here... it stood out even more on similar backdrop i.e. similar falls-through-roof scene (lucky roof  )... although SE could have been bit more orginal >.> ... but maybe..maybe it is to serve the exact purpose of what Clerith-son'd mentioned. Contrast of personalities.

Yeah sure hope it's not back-to-back.. Well, but if you let me choose a back-to-back Cloti vs Zeris, I'll certainly pick the latter

Oh well, I'm a bit confused atm, need more CC scenes to decide on my stand on this whole Zeris thingy

 You took the words right out of my mouth, Sefie. Be glad they weren't copyrighted. XD

Seriously though.... Cleris is a little sacred. You know what I'm saying? It's a big pairing, important to the FF series as a whole and such. Square better watch themselves and tread lightly around a classic tragic love. Does anyone get what I'm saying? *feels stupid*

Buuuuut... on the other hand, I love Zeris. I'm not sure when that happened. I think it was like a year ago or something... I can't remember, if I used to hate the pairing or I ignored it or what. But now I love it. So my Zeris side squeals. I think it's gonna be so cute to see a real story about two people who canonly like each other. LTDs and geusswork only stay fun for a little while. Cannon is cool once and a while too. :D Not that Cleris isn't cannon but.... there's no one to argue about Zeris, ya know?? I hope I'm making sense.

Sefie, I like the idea that Square is drawing parellels to reinforce the cannoninity (is that a word?? ) It's almost like they're saying, "Zeris is cannon, and it's a parallel to Cleris. Therefore Cleris is also cannon." I mean, if you think about it, the only way that you would really appreciate the Cleris-like Zeris scenes is if you thought Cleris was romantic too.

I dunno. Maybe all that SE is trying to tell us is that Aerith only dates guys who fall through roofs.
XD

Hades' Daughter - September 23, 2006 04:13 PM (GMT)
Well, Zeris did happen at one point, but because of what MoTP revealed to us, I guess I don't quite see it as "canon". Maybe that's just my non-zeris, biased mind speaking though. Anyhow, I'm a bit confused at this point too...so I'll have to wait for someone to actually play CC and hand us the details before I can fully throw my hate in opinions in.

*crosses fingers 'n hopes for some Clerisness*

BTW, we don't have any news on Tifa yet...right?

Oddishness - September 23, 2006 06:17 PM (GMT)

JUST MY OPINION nothnig more ...xD

Oddishness - September 23, 2006 07:22 PM (GMT)
Oh okay. Honestly, I don't think Tifa's gonna be all that important in this installment. She's just not that important to this part of the story. If Square puts her in, I think it's gonna seem like it's just fanservice (which it is).

Clerith-son - September 23, 2006 10:38 PM (GMT)
Tifa HAS to be shown, since she's an important character in the Nibelheim event, which is the beginning of the end of Zack's life.

Kaldea - September 24, 2006 01:11 AM (GMT)
*FALLS*

OMGZZZZ PEOPLEEEE!!! This game is about the past. When Aeris and Zack were together. Of course there is going to be Zeris! It's just like expecting Cloud and Tifa in LO! But guess what! It doesn't change what ALREADY happened in FFVII and MOtP (Aeris shooting down Zack, yus?). Calm guys.

*Wants zis game more now yus*

nyrin - September 24, 2006 06:00 AM (GMT)
Ya Tifa will probably be in it, if just for a little bit since it's about the past in Nibelheim. Still, I agree that she won't be that important. She was already prominent in LO and AC. Hopefully this time it'll be Aerith's turn (cuz seriously, ENOUGH with Tifa already, we practically know everything about her life before during and after FF7. Any more will just be meaningless overkill).

Yukari - September 24, 2006 01:26 PM (GMT)
*wants to see the Zeris hugging scene* That sounds so bloody adorable. And I second CG's post. We know that Aerith views Zack as a very dear friend in MoTP, not a lover. She tells him as much. And we know that they were together during the CC timeline. Zeris-ness is to be expected. I wish SE would have been more original with their meeting though.

I agree, there needs to be more Aerith exposure. I love Tifa but, she was already the main female character in AC. Aerith needs some time to shine.

Isn't that part of FFVII's story? Aerith meets a guy who reminds her of her first boyfriend. Having them share similar scenes is probably just there to reinforce the point.

She doesn't really 'reject' him (otherwise the story is pretty much screwed). I don't think 'Not that!' really fits with what she's saying, which is more along the lines of a jokey "LOL, what? That's so dumb."

[μ]-εγλ 2000
Seven years before Final Fantasy VII

- A single helicopter appears in the sky over a running train.
- The voice of a man who seems to be a superior officer is heard.

"Advance on the train in two squads."
"Quickly get into position, and recapture the train."

- The man inside the helicopter is Zack.
- With a smile, he springs towards the train.
- Zack (with improved facial graphics) jumps down and lands on the train.
- He then slowly raises his upper body.

[Scene 02]

Zack: "I, I want to help a friend."
Zack: "But I don't know how I should do it."

Aerith: "Do what?"

Zack: "An angel...?"

- Zack wakes up.
- Aerith points up to where the light is shining down from and speaks.

Aerith: "I'm Aerith."
Aerith: "You, uh, fell down."
Aerith: "Surprise!"

- Zack looks back at her.

Zack: "I'm Zack."

- She is wearing a white dress similair to the one in BC, but her ribbon is sky blue.
- It seems that Zack has fallen into the church.
- (Counting Cloud and the player in BC, this is the third time someone's fallen through her ceiling.)

[Scene 03]

- *This is the scene from the screenshot where Zack is asking Angeal about his sword.*

Angeal: "If you want to become 1st, you have a dream."

- Zack arrives near Angeal and kneels, then asks him a question.

Zack: "I've never seen you wield that sword."
Zack: "If you only use it for magic, isn't that wasteful?"

Angeal: "If I wield it, then it'll get scratched up, worn out, and dirty."
Angeal: "That would be a bigger waste."

[Scene 04]

- *This is the scene where Tseng talks to Zack about his salary.*

Zack: "Tch, do the Turks really do that?"

- Tseng keeps walking, several steps ahead of Zack.

Tseng: "Don't worry about it. Thanks to you, my salary is better."

Zack: "Are you serious!?"

[Scene 05]

Zack: "I've got to do something to show my gratitude."

- Zack crosses his arms, then turns to Aerith and leans in.

Aerith: "No, no, it's fine."

Zack: "One date, what do you say?"

- Zack points up his index finger and proposes it.

Aerith: "What's that?"

- Aerith smiles wryly.

Aerith: "You're so lame."

- (Not said in an angry way, she's joking.)

[Scene 06]

- Shinra troops (all wearing helmets) assemble as Zack paces in front of them.
- He stops in front of one troop.
- The troop corrects his posture.
- He places his hand on the troop's shoulder, who breaks from the group (as if the touch were an order).

Zack: "So, you wanna be in SOLDIER? Hang in there."

- *Zack's hair in this scene is the same as it was in FFVII.*

[Scene 07]

- *This is the scene from the screenshot where Angeal says Sephiroth is calling.*
- Angeal walks, advancing a few steps ahead of Zack.

Angeal: "Sephiroth is calling."

- Zack turns around, surprised.

Zack: "Sephiroth? The hero!?"

[Scene 08]

- *This is the scene from the screenshot where Sephiroth talks to Zack about Angeal.*
- Zack and Sephiroth are standing back to back as they speak.

Sephiroth: "We crept into the 2nd's department and hung out there, Angeal, Genesis and I."

Zack: "You all get along well, huh?"

Sephiroth: "Heh, you'd think so."

- Sephiroth smiles wryly. (He says this in a light-hearted, joking way.)

[Scene 09]

- *This is the scene from the screenshot where Zack and Tseng talk about their target.*
- Zack and Tseng spy on a private house from atop a cliff.

Tseng: "Originally, Sephiroth was supposed to come along on this mission... That's what I meant."

Zack: "Either recover it immediately, or destroy it."

[Scene 10]

- *Continuation of Scene 08.*

Sephiroth: "After that, Angeal preached to me for awhile."

Zack: "About what?"

- Sephiroth looks back at Zack over his shoulder.

Sephiroth: "Same as always."
Sephiroth: "Attitude, dreams, aspirations."
Sephiroth: "That sort of thing."

[Scene 11]

- Zack is being jolted around in the back of a yellow truck.
- He's got a cross-shaped scar on his cheek.

Zack: "I wouldn't leave you hangin'."
Zack: "We're friends, right?"

- The truck drives on through the peaceful scenery at a liesurely pace.
- *Zack's hair in this scene is the same as it was in FFVII.*

[Scene 12]

- Aerith speaks while looking up at the hole that the light is shining through.

Aerith: "If that's the upper city, the sky can't be far."
Aerith: "I wonder, little flowers... are you happy?"

- A sobbing voice is heard.
- Aerith turns around to Zack.
- Zack's back is turned to Aerith, and he's sitting cross-legged, crying.
- Aerith gently wraps her arms around Zack from behind, embracing him.

[Scene 13]

- *This is the scene from the screenshot where Zack and Angeal are standing back to back.*

Angeal: "Zack, fight with me."
Angeal: "Our enemies are all those who torment the Planet."

- A single white feather flutters to the ground, where a red shadow is cast.

[Scene 14]

- *This is the scene from the screenshots where Sephiroth and Zack are fighting.*
- Sephiroth's swordplay overwhelms Zack.

Zack: "Wh, why..."

- Zack somehow manages to defend against the attack.

Sephiroth: "It's over."

Zack: "I... I'll become a hero!"

[Scene 15]

- *This is the scene from the screenshot where Zack faces Bahamut.*
- Zack is running, holding his sword in his right hand and a mobile phone in his left."

Zack: "Aerith? I'll have to call you back later."
Zack: "I've got company."

- Bahamut rushes from behind Zack and cuts him off.
- Zack slips the phone into his pocket and readies his sword.

Zack: "Hey, don't leave yet, the party's just gettin' started!"

[Scene 16]

- *This is the scene from the screenshot where Zack talks about "Project G."*
- Sephiroth is listening with a serious look on his face.

Zack: "'Project G'..."

Sephiroth: "'Project Genesis'."

[Scene 17]

- *Continuation of Scene 13.*

Zack: "It's different, but wings aren't proof of a monster."

Angeal: "Then, what are these?"

- Two white wings sprout from Angeal's back on his right side and unfold.

Zack: "The wings of an angel."

- A white feather flies out and flutters about, which Zack catches in his hand.
- Angeal looks skyward, spreading his wings and shouting.

Angeal: "... If that's so, what kind of purpose does an angel have?"
Angeal: "What kind of dream should I have!?"

[Scene 18]

- G is sitting down beside a window.

G: "Feh... You're like a noisy puppy, Zack."

- Zack fixes a stare at him, and Tseng runs up to Zack's side.

G: "Two people have continued to betray me..."

- G stands up.

G: "Ever since the time I left that house."
G: "That dog of Shinra, he understands!"

- Fire shoots towards Zack.

[Battle Scenes]

- Something like Cait Sith's "Slot" limit break from FFVII appears on the upper left of the screen.
- The confirmed reels so far are: Angeal, Cloud, Turk (Katana), a female Turk, and the flowers from Aerith's church.
- The sword combat effects aren't like the pretty effects in KH, but more like the ones from DC.
- However, that is not to say combat is anything like DC.
- The basic camera angle feels like KH's, but a bit higher overhead (though it might have just been the scene).

[Summoned Beasts]

- Two summoned beasts were seen, Ifrit and Bahamut, but it's unknown if they'll be enemies or allies.

For some reason I find it really amusing to see Sephiroth talking and joking like a normal person. :giggle:

- The new tagline is, "Men who shed tears for their own fate, and for their friends."

Am I the only one that's a bit bummed about this change? I prefered the "three men and one woman bound for destiny's core".

I definately prefer the first one they had. The second seems to just add more to the new "friendship" theme that the compilation has taken on. :/

Thanks for the translation, yin-chan.

Yep, I like the first tag-line way better than the current one. The first one has a poetic/mysterious feel to it, while the second one is plain..urghh..

:woot: *slaps self* Just noticed your hot hot siggie, CG ^^

Eee! Tank yous! :huggle:

Also worth mentioning is how they used the word "core" in the first. Just ties the title and the tagline together so nicely. Damn you Square! Being indecisive is MY job!

I agree that I definitely prefer the first tag line, only because it doesn't ignore Aerith and most of all, it's far more poetic. But I don't agree that the friendship theme of the compilation is a bad thing. In fact, for me the relationships between the characters, all of the characters was always a main focus of FF7 (and of course, how those relationships were lost, changed, grew stronger).

It was never soley about Aerith and Cloud's love, nor about Aerith's sacrifice and Cloud's loss. These were apart of the game, but to me friendship (something Cloud first gained through Zack, the one thing that kept him alive up until the beginning of the game, and found once again with his knew Avalanche family) was always all emcompassing. Cloud could never have saved the world in FF7 or AC without friendship.

I love to see that theme explored further in Crisis Core. In fact, I hope that they will touch more upon Cloud and Zack's friendship, because there wouldn't have been an FF7 without it (since Cloud would have been...you know...dead. Aerith would have never left Midgar. Sephiroth/Jenova would have probably found some other clone to give him the black materia = bye bye planet). I don't expect anything Clerisy since this was before Cloud and Aerith met.

As for the tagline, they most likely changed it because the count of males bound for destiny's core grew larger. You can't just change it from three to four, because subtle changes like that are pretty glaring and well...weird. The best course of action would be to just change the whole thing. But I do wish they would at least include Aerith in the new tagline, or make an entirely new one with her in it because (I think) she'll be important in the game...hopefully.

Why don't we just come up with our own taglines? lol

I didn't say that the friendship theme is bad. I personally like it just because it takes the focus off of romantic love and shows people that there is a such thing as having a friend so close, you'd die for them. I'm sick of the rabids thinking that close friends HAVE TO equal romance and/or hawt secks.
