Title: Japanese Artists And Music,
Description: share their awesome-ness!

Hades' Daughter - September 15, 2006 08:00 PM (GMT)
Any one else love Japanese music as much as I do? I've been finding myself quite obsessed lately, enough to finally start a topic :P

It's a thread for all sorts of Japanese music...whether they be from animes or movies, instrumental pieces, or just j-pop from your favorite artists, share them here with us! Promote the music! We would love to hear about them all ^^

So let me start...

Tainaka Sachi: I don't know much about her, but from what I've heard, I love her beautiful voice. Here are two PVs from her:

"Disillusion"
Saikou no Kataomoi

Yuna Ito:
"Endless Story"

Jukai: I think this is a band
"Anata Ga Ita Mori"

Deen: Also a band, I believe
"Yume De Aru Youni"

Amathala - September 15, 2006 08:41 PM (GMT)
Oh my HD...why yes, I love Japanese music so very VERY much...I'm listening to it right now.

I'm more into the JRock aspect of it all...Gackt, Dir en Grey, Miyavi, X Japan, L`arc~en~Ciel....

Maaya Sakamoto is always a favorite.

Right now though, I'm listening to Ouran High School Host Club Character songs, and Bonnie Pink too ^_^.

Hades' Daughter - September 16, 2006 02:21 PM (GMT)
Miz:
"In the Sky"

Shimokawa Mikuni: She has a very nice voice, IMO...and her anime songs are just awesome.
"Minami Kaze"

Otsuka Ai:
Planetarium

I see. I actually don't know any of the ones you mentioned except Gackt, probably because I don't listen to as much actual rock stuff.

Definitely! Her voice is beyond beautiful. Among some of my favorites from her are "Yubiwa", "Tune the Rainbow", "Unison", "Hemisphere", and "Kiseki no Umi".

Materia Thief - September 16, 2006 04:18 PM (GMT)
I love Japanese music and, as always, my tastes in it are eclectic. I tend to stay in the pop and/or rock section though~

QUOTE (Hades Daughter)

Yuna Ito: "Endless Story"

I absolutely adore that song. Yuna Ito has a gorgeous voice.

Let's see, favorite artists: Koda Kumi, Utada Hikaru--I do like Ayumi Hamasaki, but only some of her songs. Ditto BoA and a lot of the other J-Pop songstresses.

But! In the name of sharing, a few of my favorite (non-Hikki and non-Koda) tracks. :3

Chihiro Onitsuka- Watashi to Waltz wo : lyrics - (A 'Squinoa' song, if you wish to think of it in that way. Or if you prefer not to, don't! A very pretty song regardless and the lyric site that I've linked to also has translations/lyrics from Maaya Sakamoto, Rie Fu and a few other very good artists. :3)

Gackt - Kimi ga Matteiru Kara : lyrics - (I'm fairly certain that this was linked as a "Cleris-y" song once)

Dir en Grey - Red...[em] : lyrics - (Dir en Grey's pretty famous for a Visual Kei band (although it's drifted from the Visual Kei image since its beginnings). This song is--well, I find it to be, a bit of an anomaly when it comes to Dir en Grey's songlist, but hey, it's still good~)

I have a lot of music, so if you've been looking for something, just ask and I might be able to help. :]

Bloodbath - September 17, 2006 12:01 PM (GMT)
I love Japanese music too - but I don't know a lot really, except for the songs that you hear in anime. :P So... I'm totally at a loss about Japanese artists. XD

I only know a handful, and their mostly people that everyone else has mentioned. Maaya Sakamoto, Kawabe Chieko, Utada Hikaru... XD (Ew. Lameness.)

I have a lot of music, so if you've been looking for something, just ask and I might be able to help. :]

Unfortunately Dir en Grey has gone more of a heavy metal route now. Red [em] is off of their Vulgar album, which was their fourth, I believe, when they started going from Visual Kei to Heavy Metal...er...I'm wrong on that...by their third album, they started the transition...too bad, I really liked their hair LOL! Their latest single after 8 months is "Ryojoku no Ame" or "Rain of Insult" (some call it "Rain of Rape"). In November they have another single coming out entitled, "Agitated Screams of Maggots." I know, not the best name...rather disgusting...apparantly it's going to be very violent.

HD: Mikuni is SO awesome! I did a karaoke of Karenai Hana on my computer! That's how much I love her songs LOL. I was thinking of doing Minami Kaze, or Tomorrow from the first Full Metal Panic!

You might want to check out Bonnie Pink if you really like Maaya and Mikuni. Also, Misia is good too.

If you're more into the pop sound "w-inds" might be of interest to you, they are a 3 boy band. Um...UVERworld is always good to listen to....Is anyone really into anime music? I just LOVE character songs...Japanese seiyuu are so talented ;.;

Zelda - September 17, 2006 09:55 PM (GMT)
I don't listen to Japanese music as much as I used to, but I still have some faves:

Arai Akino
Sputnik
Kirei na Kanjou
Roundabout Drive
Pansy

Chihiro Onitsuka
Borderline
Gekkou
Beautiful Fighter

Maaya Sakamoto
Gathering Rain
Chibikko Folk
I Throw a Vase from Atop the Hill
Kuuki to Hoshi

There's also some stuff from Gackt, Bump of Chicken, and the Pillows that I really like.

Paladin's Heart - September 17, 2006 10:07 PM (GMT)
Mmm, I can't say that I don't like Japanese Music and artists, but I can't say I'm too facinated with it either. As ~H_A~ (Bloodbath) stated, I usually like a few artists here and there and mostly songs from animes. Sorry, but JRock isn't really my cup of tea...:P

A few artists I can name are T.M Revolution and Ayumi Hamazaki. J-pop. Yupp xD. And are DBSK/DBSG/TVXQ (otherwise known as Dong Bang Shin Ki/Gi...and I don't know what TVXQ stands for xD) counted as Japanese Artists? They sing both K-pop and J-pop.

Bloodbath - September 18, 2006 12:47 PM (GMT)
Yay! Fellow non-all-knowing-J-music-person! :huggle:

Oh! And I remember one more song! Um... I remember listening to their song back when I was in Singapore Airlines. (Like... five months ago...?) Chemistry, Dance With Me. Wahaha. I like the beat. <3

And maybe it's just me, but I also prefer Japanese and other language songs than plain ol' English. Recently, all I'm really hearing are songs of heartbreak and pain and I-love-him/her-but-s/he-doesn't-love-mes. So... Japanese music is kinda different for me, because the songs that I usually listen to don't deal with that crap most of the time. XD

::wonders if anyone understood that::

Hades' Daughter - September 18, 2006 08:19 PM (GMT)
MT: thank you for the uploads. I'll check them out.
Likewise, if anyone wants any of the songs I posted up, let me know. I'll be more than happy to upload the MP3s ^^

Well, voice-wise, I prefer artists like Maaya Sakamoto, Akino Arai, Shimokawa Mikuni, and Tainaka Sachi. IMO, they have lighter, prettier voices. Ayumi has some nice songs too, but I personally don't like her voice as much nor do I really like her pitch-dragging style of singing.

Some of my favorites from her:
"Moments" - It's such a Clerisy song :P
"Seasons"
"Depend on You"
"Dearest"

Otsuka Ai:
She has a cute voice...
"Kingyo Hanabi"

I'm pretty familiar with W-inds, thanks to my little sister ^^
UVER rocks...and yes, I L-O-V-E anime music especially.

Arai Akino

Her voice is incredibly beautiful, love her. Do you know if she only sings anime music? I've been trying to look for her songs everywhere on the internet, but haven't had much luck. For some reason, I use to think Maaya Sakamoto sang this one song called "Cries in the Dark" 'til I learned the song was actually called "Voices" (from the anime Macross?) and was by Akino Arai.

PH: didn't know you were a DBSK fan ^^
My little sister's crazy about them. Although I've heard of their Japanese songs, I'm more familiar with them as a Korean group.

I notice that Japanese music (and many other Asian music, as well) tend to incorporate a lot of nature imagery into their music/songs, even if it's a love song...which is something I like and find that many English songs lack. Guess I'm the nature-type person...?

The ones I mentioned above, aside from "Kirei na Kanjou", are all from her own CDs and not anime. I really, really recommend "Sputnik". I just think the lyrics are beautiful. Her album Eden (The songs "Pansy" and "Roundabout Drive" are on this CD) is also really worth a listen, even though I don't know the specific lyrics apparently it's very much an anti-war statement.

Here's the karaoke: http://rapidshare.de/files/33611105/Karena...aoke01.mp3.html

;.; please dont laugh at me LOL...it took a lot of courage for me to do this....ah! What the heck! Laugh at me anyway if you want to :P

Here's a couple from Japanese seiyuu Shotaru Morikobu who voices Orphen from Majutushi Orphen, Kadaj from Advent Children, or Genji from Getbackers...LOL these songs are from Tokimeki Memorial Girls Side.

Daiten Karen
Aoi Tori ni Nosete

And a couple of my favorites from Gackt

Mizerable
Noesis

I've got so much music it's not even funny...I'll upload some more later on.

Oh, yes yes! I'm a big DBSK fan. I don't know too many of their Japanese songs, only Ashita wa Kurukara (from One Piece) and Somebody to Love. But yes, I am a DBSK fan. I'm still waiting for their new CD to be imported here, I really want to hear their new single SKY. Yun-ho (U-know) and Changmin (Max) are my bishies xD.

How could I forget about Two-mix!? They sing most of the Vocal songs in Gundam Wing, so I can consider that they can be one of my favourite J-pop artists. And also Do as Inifinity because of their Vocals in Inuyasha, like Every Heart (they DID sing that, right?), Shinjitsu no Uta and Fukai Mori.

EDIT: Gaah! After reading ~H_A~'s post, I forgot about Chemistry! >_< I love their song Wings of Words because it's the 4th opening of Gundam Seed Destiny and the Remix of it. Also High and Mighty Colour, but I'm not sure if their considered J-Rock or J-pop because their instrumentals are very...Electric Guitar-ish.

TWO-MIX is awesome as well. Gundam Wing is how I really got into them.

Nope...BoA sings "Every Heart". Did you also know that Do As Infinity sings the ending for the 4th (and hopefully last) Inuyasha movie? I do believe that Do As Infinity has disbanded though...unfortunately...

Ah, love Morikubo. Orphen did it for me...and it's funny, but I was looking forward to hearing his and Maaya Sakamoto's voices most when I first heard about AC. :)

BTW, I downloaded both his songs, but "Daiten Karen" didn't show up as a music file I could listen to T.T

I love Morikobu too! Orphen was the first time I ever heard him. I'm an avid collector of Orphen things...I have both series, the game, the OST (the real thing, not the Tiawanese), 3 of the singles (the small discs), and a Tower of Fangs pendent. Oh, and a cell, one of the ones they used in the first episodes...it's hott LOL!

Sorry about the file, I think the filename was too long, it didnt have .mp3 at the end of it, but no worries! I fixed it, AND it works, I checked it out myself ^_^

OMG. ANYBODY LIKE ORANGE RANGE?

I remember when I was about 12 I used to be so obsessed with Orange Range, I would listen to the song Viva Rock all the time and I have their Natural CD. I think one of their songs (Asterisk?) is an opening for Bleach? Yeah. Although in that song they sound more J-pop rather than J-rock.

I only have the first series, and unfortunately, I've only seen a few episodes from the second one. I've seen the game floating around, but never got to actually play it. As for the Tower of Fangs pendent...1!1!

BTW, thank you muchos for fixing the Morikubo upload. Lovely song ^^

*My favorite artist is hitomi. She's got this special,high-pitched voice but that's what makes her unique.

*Ayumi Hamasaki. She just puts a lot of emotions into her song and her own lyrics are amazing. She's everchanging and that's why she's the Queen of J-Pop

*Mika Nakashima. Her music is pop/jazzy. She's got some really great songs.

*Tsukiko Amano. J-Rockish.She did the music for the Fatal Frame games.

I'll upload some songs if you want.

Yukari - September 30, 2006 03:02 PM (GMT)
I got into J-Pop when Kingdom Hearts was released, because of Hikaru Utada's amazing voice. She's definitely one of my very favourite artists, but I'm also fond of Maaya Sakamoto (of course), Chihiro Onisuka, Tsukiko Amano, hitomi, and Aikawa Nanase. I like Ayumi Hamasaki's ballads, but some of her dancier songs irritate me a bit. I like some of Gackt's stuff, and Sugizo's quite good too, but I'm more into the pop side than rock.

I've uploaded some of my favourite songs for anyone who's interested. ^_^

Keep Tryin' - Hikaru Utada. It's from her newest album 'ULTRA BLUE'. Lyrics

Infection - Chihiro Onisuka. I LOVE this one. From her album 'This Armor'. Lyrics

Koigokoro (Acoustic) - Aikawa Nanase. It's a really nice song from 'ParaDOX'. Lyrics

Koe - Tsukiko Amano. She has a really powerful voice, and I love that. Anyone who's played Fatal Frame 3 will have probably heard this one, it's from her latest album 'A Moon Child In The Sky'. Lyrics

Hisui (A Moon Child Type) - Tsukiko Amano. This is one of the calmer songs from her album, haha. Lyrics

Loop - Maaya Sakamoto. This song never fails to put me in a good mood. It's from Yuunagai LOOP. Lyrics

Japanese Girl - hitomi. From LOVE CONCENT. It's very bouncy. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I like it.

Resha - October 1, 2006 11:58 AM (GMT)
names that are in bold means they are super duper supreme to me.

Maaya Sakamoto
BoA

Utada Hikaru
Do As Infinity

Ayumi Hamasaki

Rikki
Maeda Ai

Miyamoto Shunichi
Satou Akemi
Gackt
Porno Grafitti
Tommy February6
Atsumi Saori

Can anyone tell me who sang Yasashii Gogo, the ending theme of DN Angel?

Athena/Fuijin - October 1, 2006 12:04 PM (GMT)
Jeez,I thought I was the only Nanase Aikawa fan out here. Yup,and all those songs are great (I also have them XD)

Some of my fav songs:

JUICY|Koda Kumi| JUICY is from her latest single '4 hot wave',and if you think 'Ima Sugu Hoshii' was a dirty song then you really gotta take a good look at the lyrics for JUICY :P

Could it get better |mink| This is one of my favorite songs from mink. Her voice is amazing and the song makes me happy.

Taiyo no Hana |Hitomi Shimatani| I can't get enough of this song. This is the best song EVER from Shimatani.

Last Summer |Miliyah Kato| Ah,this song makes me think of summertime, the beach and all good things.

2cm |Rie Fu| Rie Fu might not be like extremely popular, but her songs are awesome. I would recommend all her albums.

Yuki No Hana |Mika Nakashima| This song makes me cry,it's so beautiful. Mika can do anything from ballads to jazz to reggae. She's always experimenting with different styles.

I think Nina mentioned in the anime opening/closing thread that Minawo sang that song.

EDIT:
I was never really into Japanese rock music...but I recently just ran across a band called Nightmare or Naitomea. I actually like some of the music :o

Wow, but the guys are way out there in the looks and fashion department.

Nightmare - The World
Naitomea-Remembrance
Mind Ocean
Naitomea - Varuna
Nightmare - Alumina
Nazuki
Tsuki no Hikari, Utsutsu no Yume

I don't think anyone mentioned them...so I was wondering if anyone was a fan.

I'm a huge fan of JRock!

My fav band ever is The Gazette.
I also like Dir En Grey, Miyavi, X Japan, Vidoll, An Cafe, Plastic Tree and way more. hehe.

I dont like Nightmare really...I tried to get into them, but it didnt work ;.;

I'll never get enough of Gackt though...

This is what I found in my music folder, Resha. There are a few versions...so take your pick I suppose:

BOA-"Every Heart" (Japanese)
BOA - "Every Heart" (Korean)
BOA - "Every Heart" (english)

While I'm at it, I guess I'll share some of my favorite songs:

Otsuka Ai - "Natsu Sora"
This is a must download for people who like pretty songs. ^^

Ayaka Hirahara - "Hajimari no Kaze"
It has a chinese-like melody.

Jukai - "Anata ga Ita Mori"
It's a rather sappy one...and the lyrics are pretty sad too.

Tainaka Sachi:
Disillusion
Saikou no Kataomoi

Shimokawa Mikuni - "Arekara"

Maaya Sakamoto:
Hemisphere
Tune the Rainbow

Akino Arai:
If you like Maaya Sakamoto, you might like her. It still amazes me how alike the two of them can sound at times.

I know, very olllllld thread, but... *casts Full-Life*

I've been listening to a wider range of J-pop recently, 'cause I found the review blog 'Beyond the Sea' (which has now been suspended by wordpress, bleh) and downloaded a few of the most recommended songs. Some stuff hasn't really interested me, but there's been stuff by Rie Fu, KOKIA and Salyu that I've liked.

Sooooo. To ramble about the J-Pop 'princesses', I'm still addicted to Hikki. The single HEART STATION/Stay Gold has been high on my recently played list since I got hold of the mp3. I really like the 'ethereal', synth style that Hikki has now, I thought ULTRA BLUE was her best album to date, and she's kept the style with this new single.

HEART STATION
Stay Gold

Her new album, HEART STATION is out on the 19th of March. I can't wait!

I'm liking Ayu's new album, GUILTY, too. The title track is one of my favourites on the album, and Marionette, both the song and the music box-ish interlude. And of course, the piano ballad that Ayu is so great at comes in the form of Together, When... I think she's done a really awesome job, even though apparently Kumi Koda has taken her place as the 'Queen of J-Pop'.

The super creepy Marionette PV
Together, When...

Speaking of Kumiko, I have some of the tracks from her latest album, Kingdom. Himitsu is probably my favourite, it's a cute, laid back summery thingy, and also BUT, which reminds me of SexyBack. 'You know you love yourself!'

BUT

Oh, and Ami Suzuki! In FREE FREE there's electronic distortion on her voice, which I usually don't like, but for some reason, I can't stop listening to it.

I know next to nothing about Jrock or Jpop so excuse the n00b. D:

The only thing I've really loved from a Jrock band is the opening song to Ergo Proxy. The band is called MONORAL and I've heard the singer is only half Japanese. They also don't sound very Japanese at all. jhkjdgjkhgdfj :fish:

Kiri (Ergo Proxy opening)
Goodbye

You're so lucky! I would give ANYTHING to see 12012! I dont want to see them as much as say Gackt, S.K.I.N or L`arc~en~Ciel...but I love their music! I would also have loved to see BUCK-TICK...hell, just let me see any JRock bands.

My cousin went to the Taste of Chaos tour and got to see MUCC, Despairs Ray and The Underneath. I bought their albums at Hot Topic ^_^. She's so lucky! She got pictures too!

Omg. If it was Gackt or Des'pairs Ray playing I think I would have had a heart attack!
The leader of 12012 is SO FREAKING HAWT!!
I practically died when I saw that gorgeous head of his.

I wanted to take pictures with them and have them sign a T-Shirt. But the picture cost like $35 and the only thing they can sign is J-Rock T-Shirts bought from them con and each shirt is like $4o. So I was like umm...to expensive. The concert tickets were already above my head but soooo worth it.

OMG. ANYBODY LIKE ORANGE RANGE?

Me! Me! Pick me! My main band is Plastic Tree, but I will verge out of it when I'm in a certian mood. I've been known to listen to Ayumi Hinasaki (I think I spelled her name right), and BOA, Tamaki Nami (or Nami Tamaki if you prefer), Utada Hikari (I love the song "Colors"), and of course, Orange Range!

I recommend anyone who loves Korean, Chinese or Japanese music.
