It's not like I'm Cassie's biggest fan or anything, but people really should give her a break. First of all, the way she is portrayed in music videos doesn't have to reflect the way she is in real life. It's just a music video. A bunch of suits dolled her up and directed her. Second, it's not like Cassie's doing anything too wild, especially if you look at today's young female "role models". See Beyonce's new video lately? Ciara's? Even men, too. In Justin Timberlake's new video, he's shown having rough sex with some chick. There's countless rap videos where then men are shown using/making out with/having sex with some floozy.

In my opinion she's just an okay. Even though her single has really gotten popular, her voice isn't anything special. To me, she's just another pretty face that can sort of sing. Her video wasn't that bad, because it's appealing towards that target group of people that like their music with sex appeal, rather than talent and substance.

I'll give her a break alright...but not the kind you're talking about....>.>;;

Anyway, I dont like this mainstream American pop/rap/whatever garbage...The only reason I saw her video was because it was put either on FUSE or IMF, I watch IMF for the foreign videos...honestly, they dont have enough of them...(sorry babbling). I saw Beyonce's video, and Justin Timberlake's video. Do I like them? Hell no. Can we please see something on music videos other than sex and fatty thigh shaking?

And yes, Cassie has every right to do what she likes in her videos. SHE hires the suits. If there's something in a video that she doesn't like, then I'm sure she'll say so.

I guess perhaps I'm just too modest when it comes to things like sexuality in the media. I know if I was a pop singer (which I would never be, I'd have to be a hardcore rocker), I would rather set a different example. Like you dont have to be sexy to sell records. I think it's really the talent that counts. Just about every pop singer lately sounds the same to me, and that's not talent to me.

I agree. Alot of the music vid's now are getting extremely..... inapproprite. I mean, some of the popular rap music...... I just wanted to scream. I mean, woman are looked at as sex objects. It drives me crazy. And, its not fair. Its setting a HORRIBLE example for kids. To look at woman as objects to "bang wtih" and rate them for their hottness. I mean, music is extremely popular. Mostly everyone listens to it.

But, the sad facts is.... sex sells. Giving a high sex appeal draws alot of your cash in. Its hard to set a good example, but keep it appropriate. You see most movie stars and sings refering to sex and sex related things, and thats what mostly gets them their fame. You don't see alot of good, clean singers now. :(

Erm, hon, Cassie doesn't make all the rules, especially when it comes to her image. She signed a contract, and we all know what that means. She'll do what they tell her.

It's true that sex sell, but I don't care. Sex doesn't bother me. It's a part of life, it's a part of our culture. Is it a little depressing that sex is chosen over talent a lot of the time? Yes. But a singer being sexy in and of itself doesn't bug me at all.

Maybe I'm just easier on the pop stars, I enjoy catchy beats. I don't hold much respect for Cassie as an artist the way I would for someone like Ben Gibbard, but she's having her moment. She's doing something she likes and is making money. I say, good for her. Here's to hoping she doesn't hit the wall at 25.

I love "Me & You" and the other songs I've heard from her; IMHO she's got such lovely talent. (Plus she's Philippino - like meh! :D) I think I first heard Cassie when she was still "underground". I honestly don't think making the big business was her #1 priority since she just released her songs on MySpace, however more likely to intend sharing her songs with the public and hoping more will come her way. I've seen many interviews regarding her as well; she seems to be such a lovely young lady with a graceful, elegant, sexy charm - absolutely far from being a slut!! She even talked about how this was all just for fun for her until she found out her single hit the charts big. Also, her music video was also probably to promote her new album... I've read before that many people depend on music videos to see how "interesting" or "colorful" artists are. I admit, I think they could've done a WAY better video than that (especially since it only stars her when the song is "Me & U" :huh:), but of course, many people who control her advertising and such try to get her to maintain a certain image to give [most] people what they [supposedly] "want". Nowadays we all kinda know what that is, even though it's not always agreeable. :ermm:

I don't mind Cassie being sexy in her videos too, as mentioned before from Zelda. She seems to enjoy dancing and doing all the intriguing actions (if you know what I mean ^^; ...) - thus, I have no problem with it. At least it's a - rather - "fun" video that you can just get up and dance/sing to/with. My brother and cousin seem to fulfill that purpose and tend to be easily amused while it happens. XD; Believe it or not, some people who aren't into sex/$$/drugs/alcohol/etc. like her video as well, including me I guess (though I personally think it could've been MUCH better).

But to set things straight - all I could say is that I don't really look up to Cassie like I do to legendary artists, such as Mary J. Blige or Ayumi Hamsaki... and more. :P I do like Cassie for bringing cool music to us, yeshyesh. :] Bring nice talent to awesome use!!

Other than the fact that she is incredibly attractive, there is nothing else outstanding about her. She has nice moves, but I'm the kind of person that isn't that impressed with dance moves since I prefer to listen to the music, rather than watch the music videos. Listening the just the music/her singing alone, I don't find her incredibly talented. She, in my opinion, has a mediocre voice. It just sounds like she's seductively saying the words most of the time, rather than actually singing. But, this is the new singing trend, isn't it? I dunno... but, I do know that I dislike it. Maybe that's just me.

I don't mind her using her sex appeal to get an audience. Like mentioned before, sex sells, so there is no way avoiding it anymore. Thankfully, I don't view the music videos so it's easier to avoid watching singers shaking their naughty bits. lol :lol:

Sorry if I seemed to have offended you, GIP and anyone else who like Cassie. I'm just simply stating my opinion about her. It's fine if you all like her, I respect your opinions. Her music is just unappealing to me. ^_^
