Title: Angel Sanctuary
Description: Anyone here likes it?

Now, I only came across this series while researching some claims on incest and its role in anime. I ended up reading all 20 volumes in three days (whew!) If you're familiar with AS, you would know that the main couple is Setsuna and his sister, Sara. Yes, that's right. From the very start they're romantically involved. I personally don't like it, but the other characters more than make up for it. I love Kira in particular. He's got to have one of the most interesting backstories I've read so far, and he's great-looking. :P In any case, I'm not going to spoil too much! (but if anyone knows what I mean, I would like to hear some opinions!)
Of course, wikipedia does say that this series is "controversial" and I agree. Staunch Christians are not advised to read (or anyone who hates anything to do with incest).

Oh really? I do kind of like the "forbidden love" theme in it. It's...different from those regular hetero love relationships. Setsuna is awesome...can you believe he's actually a reincarnation of a female angel? I cracked up hard when I first read it. Though, I only got to read about three volumes...cause the library that had it only had three volumes (which sucks and I don't know where else to get it), but I think it's a interesting story. I liked angels and demons related mangas in the first place, and I gueu ss that's what drew me in (and of course the beautiful artwork. I love it).
Indeed, Kira is an awesome character. He seems a bit...plain with his glasses on though. I like him better without it. :D And yes, he is hot.
But I agree...hard-core Christians (or anything closer) shouldn't read this. It's like wow...I'm not a Christian (don't even have a religion) so I don't really mind these things .

I love Angel Sanctuary. Crazy and confusing but definitely not without its own beauty. I really do have several "favorite" characters in this series: Kira-senpai, Kurai (or Cry, if you will), Michael, etc. Just awesomeness. And the artwork... kuku. I drool at thee.
I also agree that most crazy Christians would be offended by this title. <<They totally cut down God, for one thing. Not to mention the various "angels" who aren't very angelic and the entire war going on (and its causes... a very, very cruel "God," essentially, etc.).>>

I hope you continue read, lenne! Believe me, if you get to the end of Volume 20, you won't be sorry!
It's a darn good thing I'm not a Christian, otherwise, I would feel so guilty for reading Angel Sanctuary. But you know, if you think about it, tons of anime have demons in them and that's also "bad." But yeah, the sinning is pretty major in AS.
Oh, and Rui, I think that they've published up to volume 16 or so. And since there're 20 volumes in total, I'm guessing that you should get the scanlated version.
Heh heh, I love Kira. :fangirl: And Alexiel too. She's such a cool gal.

I love Angel Sanctuary. :wub:I love the art, I love the story, and I love the concept. I haven't gotten past volume 10, though. I can't find 11 through 20.
On the subject of Christianity and such, I am a very dedicated LDS, and I don't feel guilty reading AS. I don't believe in it or think it's right, but that certainly doesn't mean that I don't appreciate it for what it is- amazing.
