Title: Whats Your Favorite Movie?

Lucian - August 24, 2006 09:08 PM (GMT)
Hey, i thought it'd be cool to start a thread on peoples favorite movies and why they like them.

My favorite movie is Boondock Saints. I like it because its a mixture of action and comedy, and its about twin Irish brothers. I'm a twin, and I'm Irish lol.

The_Drizzle - August 25, 2006 06:54 PM (GMT)
The cult classic TransFormers The Movie

Galvatron - as voiced my Leonard Nimoy
"First Prime, then Ultra Magnus, now you, it's a pity you Autobots die so easily, or else I might have a sense of satisfaction now."

Bah weep granah weep ninni bong?

My favorite movie... Okay, I have a lot.

(in no particular order)

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)

Just a genius, moving story that serves as a comentary on both society and the individual lives we all lead, and by a director who doesn't do much but never falters, Milos Forman.

To Kill A Mockingbird (1962)

My favorite story of all time. Gregory Peck, what an amazing actor he was, gave the perfect rendition of the literary character none of us could ever forget. Plus, the score was fantastic.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Basically the reason why I decided to read Stephen King. Not only is the script soo great, but the acting is spot-on. And it has an ending so perfect that it can redeem us all.

A Clockwork Orange (1971)

I love Stanley Kubrick.

Amadeus (1984)

Another Milos Forman. I don't know who wrote the story off-hand, but wow. GREAT story writing right there. F. Murray Abraham did such an amazing job. I'm really glad he won an Oscar for this role.

Star Wars: Episode V- The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

Thank God for script-writing and directing that doesn't involve George Lucas! Otherwise, who knows how short of greatness this movie could've fallen. :D

Schindler's List (1993)

Spielberg's magnum opus. Makes me cry everytime.

V for Vendetta (2005)

Hell, yes! This movie is awesome. Great script (do I smell Oscar nomination?), great acting on Hugo Weaving's part even though he's under a mask the entire movie (do I smell Oscar nomination?), and a story to move even those who couldn't be any more disinterested in politics.

Citizen Kane (1941)

Brilliant movie-making. It's a standard like Citizen Kane that makes me wonder what the hell has happened to the art of cinema nowadays.

The Godfather (1972)

I don't know why, but this movie is amazing. I never get bored of it. Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton. So many top-notch actors.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004)

I love Quentin Tarantino.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

Ahh, I love a great action, mystery, comedy, and drama rolled into one. The addition of Sean Connery to the Indiana Jones series was fun.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

Before this movie, I didn't know that Jim Carrey could do acting outside of comedies. Charlie Kaufman sure as hell knows what he's doing when he sits down to right a script and story like this one.

Gone with the Wind (1939)

A classic that needs no explanation.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)

Just way too f-ing hillarious to leave off this list.

Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

Okay, I'm a little biased on this one. Audrey Hepburn is my idol. But it's still a very nice story with great characters and a beautiful song called "Moon River."

Phew. :pant: I left off about six or seven, but I think I've typed on long enough. Especially considering how no one will have probably read that entire monster of a post.

The acting was superb, the story was brilliant, and I just loved it. Sarah Michelle Gellar was amazing as Kathryn. I know your not supposed to like Kathryn because she's sneaky and pretty much a b***h but I couldn't hate her, she was a brilliant character. And Sebastian...Oh goodness I loved him. So sad what happend to him in the end  ((And who could forget Joshua Jackson as Blaine? ))

And as I said before, the story was wonderful. Don't you just love the game of seduction? XD

From the top of my head...

The Lord of the Rings:
Though I dislike some of the creative changes that it has to undergo for the sake of character drama *cough*Arwen*cough*, it's a wonderful movie. The graphics, the storyline, the characters, the sets, the battles. It made me think that I've just saw the story for the first time.

Chronicles of Narnia:
I loved this series, like forever. No explanations are needed, really. XD

Kill Bill:
A lady with a sword hacking someone else's guts out for vengeance? Awesome.

Big Fish:
Ewan McGregor! And I love all his weird stories in which we all knew there is a grain of truth buried within it. He doesn't make it up, he lives through it.

Pirates of the Carribean:
Swordfighting! Pirates! Johnny Depp! Everyone backstabbing each other! Rum! XD Fun!

The Godfather:
This was my father's favorite film, and mine as well. Everyone was awesome in that movie. And for once, you appreciate a character's fall to the dark side (when he tried so hard to fight against it), and in fact you'll find yourself rooting for it to happen.

Sabrina:
The original Audrey Hepburn version. I swear, this is the ultimate form of a romantic comedy. The other films just don't compare.

LadyNelZelpher - September 1, 2006 11:46 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't know... I love so many movies!
But I'm a Lord of the Rings fangirl :P
