Title: Anime Opening/closing Themes
Description: share!
Hades' Daughter - August 20, 2006 05:18 PM (GMT)
I was bored, so I decided to start a topic about Anime theme songs and openings/closings. Alright, so talk about them here...what are some of your favorites? Why are they so memorable? Feel free to share links and music if you'd like ^^
Let me start by sharing some of my favorites:
Saiunkoku Monogatari Op. ThemeWARNING: Bishies galore, watch at your own risk :P
Full Metal Panic Fumoffu OpFull Metal Panic TSR OpRecord of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight OpMaaya Sakamoto sang this awesome song ^.^
Record of Lodoss War OVA opening
Nina - August 20, 2006 05:53 PM (GMT)
Ahh!! ~tackle-glomps lubbing HD~ The FMP songs are totally included in my faves. 8]
One of mine would most definitely be "
Yasashii Gogo" by Minawo. This plays in the
D.N. Angel series, though I can't find the anime opening(?) that plays the song on youtube. ;_;
The_Drizzle - August 20, 2006 06:45 PM (GMT)
I love the opening and credits to Ultra Maniac. The art for one is really crisp and gives a neat lil rundown on what the whole show is about for the opening, very intelligent. The music I love, actually I'm addicted to it. The credits are just as good, very beautiful art and a hint of what the characters will be wearing in future episodes. As witht he opening I really dig the song played in the credits, very nice and sensual.
Honerable mention goes to Girls Bravo season one opening, i love song and the art is pretty good and is just an all around fun opening to get you into the craziness you are about to watch.
Finally, Dirty Pair Flash... Mission 2 I think, I really enjoyed the credits as the tune was decent but for each "hit" in the beat they would show a chibi of the characters. I think I just dig the timing aspect of it as I love video editing, so seeing the timing on the chibi characters appear and disappear on the music notes gives me something to draw from and inspiration.
Hades' Daughter - August 20, 2006 11:56 PM (GMT)
TS: I've only seen just the first episode of DNAngel, but it sounds like a really good anime.
Yasashii Gogo is a really cute song. ^^
It's the credits theme?
...and FMP has some really nice songs, I agree!
I love season one's credits.
The_Drizzle: I was really curious about
Ultra Maniac and tried to look up both its opening and credits theme on youtube, but unfortunately, I couldn't find anything
Anyhow, a few other openings among my favorites are:
Grenadier Op...I found the anime a bit odd...but I always thought the opening was pretty, especially because "Kohaku" is such a nice song. :)
Star Ocean EX OpThe music is very upbeat and goes along perfectly with the scenes chosen. I think it's just, overall, a very cool opening.
Magic Knights Rayearth season 1 OPA very memorable opening, IMO.

Just post someof my favorites?
I like the more up-beat types... >_> Ehh... I'll just post some links, and you'll understand what kind of opening I like.
Beck OP: It's japanese singing in english... but I like it anyway.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=XA2o4D9GqPMNaruto OP #3: The type of opening that gets me pumped to watch the next episode. Love it.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=6PcmBw1Ex80Gundam Seed OP:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Agru-tEFsYQTenjou Tenge OP: Love the intro art more than the actual song. Breaking and such... =) And rapping in Japanese is cool to me.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=p-sUOZbDGYMChobits OP: Been a while since I've seen this anime but the opening is still fresh in my mind.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ntH64pdJoh4Genshiken OP: Only true anime fans will know this OP... Lol Good anime too. An anime about anime fans. Whats not to like?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=iw1cCAE0JO0Hajime no Ippo OP: Its the kind that has to grow on you... But this one gets me pumped for each episode too... BOXING!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=I8vRnkGj0FwGTO OP: Nothing to say... It's a great opening... L'arc en Ciel... Come on.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=FETyd6JP9DAAnd those are the openings... The ones that I can remember off my head anyways... If I think of any more good ones I'll post em.
Marionette - August 21, 2006 07:39 AM (GMT)
The opening and closing credits for Kabamaru, possibly the greatest anime ever created. :lmao: Man, I miss this show.
Opening
http://youtube.com/watch?v=NhmSDm60lfkClosing
http://youtube.com/watch?v=wYHh1CP-0xgThe songs are rather catchy and memorable, no?

I love The Real Folk Blues too! The clips in the background fit Cowboy Bebop's theme very well too!
I don't have links, but I'm fond of the first Revolutionary Girl Utena opening theme. Naruto openings are generally cool too. Oh! But the Digimon Season 1 Japanese theme is still one of my favorites.

Ah...very upbeat indeed ^^
I think I like all sorts of openings (fast paced, slow paced, doesn't matter), just depending on the song and how the whole thing was put together, of course. The opening of an anime is pretty important 'cos it definitely gives the viewers an idea about what kind of anime it'll be, whether it be a serious show, one full of comedy, or adventure, etc. Honestly, sometimes I'll choose not to watch an anime just by watching its opening.
Um, a few more of my favorites:
RahXephon openingA very cool opening. I love Maaya Sakamoto's voice.
Escaflowne OpThis opening brings back so many memories. Escaflowne was one of the very first anime series I watched.
Chrono Crusade OpChrono Crusade creditsIt's such a touching song T.T
Plus, I like watching the characters get sketched out.

The artwork is certainly very bright, clear, and pretty. The song goes well with it. I think I get an idea of what the show is like :)

Ah... I can enjoy any type of opening and ending as long as I can stand listening to the song.
Oh yeah... I decided to DL and check out Star Ocean EX from the OP you posted. I saw that it has the same story as Star Ocean The Second Story. O.O I loved that game... So yeah... If I like it enough I might buy it.(If it's out)
Here are a few more OPs and EDs I like... Some newer animes I've just started watching.
KIBA OP-
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ceJd6zqyeGwKIBA ED #2- I like this ending way more than the first one.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=5QCKNV3fTtgInnocent Venus OP-

http://youtube.com/watch?v=TP5MS2y9JrUIchigo 100 OP- My all-time favorite manga... Anime, not so much my favorite... >_>
http://youtube.com/watch?v=9PuTVRZ9CcMIchigo 100 OVA OP- I like the OVAs more than the series anime... They actually follow the manga storyline.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ynk85hk2NskAnd here's a slower OP I actually like...
I"s Pure OP- An anime based off of what is considered by many as the best romance manga ever.

Butterfly!!! Not fond of the anime, but I LOVE that opening song! It’s always a favorite at anime conventions here.
…Urgh, so many videos I want to post, all at once! Starting a couple of Akazukin ChaCha videos
ChaCha OP 1ChaCha ED 3I don’t like them particularly for the songs, but I love all the goofy and kawaii images accompanying them. And ah, the MEMORIES. Cha-Cha, Riiya, and Shiine, my original Magical Trio before the Harry Potter trio showed up. T_T
…man, Shiine still looks as adorable as he did when I was 8. *glomps* (Riiya’s cute too, but admit it, Shiine’s bishi-er. And yes, I know, I’m a creepy pedophile XD)

Haha, I know. :P I haven't heard of all of the animes everyone has mentioned. (Save for Chobits and Ultra Maniac.)
Cardcaptor Sakura:
Doesn't it sound so lame mentioning this? Although upbeat and cute songs are rather meh-ish for me, I actually like a handful that they have. For example:
+ Platinum (the one with Maaya Sakamoto)
+ Tobira wo Akete (where Sakura wears that cute yellow and white outfit)
+ Honey (ending theme song)
Witch Hunter Robin
::woozy:: The opening and ending songs match really well, and I love the singer's expressive voice, which matches with the rock music.
+ Shell (the opening)
+ Half-Pain (the ending)
Tsubasa Chronicles
Although the anime is kind of a disappointment, I really like the ending theme song. :)
+ Loop (by Maaya Sakamoto)
Ouran High School
Haha... I love the opening theme song 'cuz it's upbeat and really cute, with all of the characters dancing in and out. The ending theme song is okay for me. Though I can't remember the title of the latter.
+ Sakura Kiss
[EDIT:]
Gunslinger Girl
Just watching it nooooow. The opening theme is so emotional, though I don't know the name to it.
Marionette - August 25, 2006 12:52 AM (GMT)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pmWBG-ubbEI love the opening of Elfen lied for two reasons the song: Lilium, and because they used the art of Gustav Klimt. I never seen the anime, but the opening is just beautiful.

Fushigi Yuugi >.<
I watched 20 some episodes of it a while ago. I remember being so frustrated with Miaka, not to the mention the fact that everyone was just suddenly in love with each other...bleh...
As for Saiunkoku Monogatari, yes...there are plenty of prettyful, drool-worthy guys in there. I was addicted to the anime upon seeing the opening because of them :lust:

And yeah... I've was in an anime slump a couple weeks ago... I didn't find any animes that I actually enjoyed. KIBA was a decent anime, so I've been watching that and Air Gear as my weekly anime DLs.
Ahhh... I guess I'll post a few more OP and/or ED anime themes too.

Here's some of my favourites:
Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z OP - Yeth, the PPGs have been turned into an anime :lmao: But I'm a fan of magical girl shows. Plus I like the catchy tune and animation of the opening.
Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z EN - Here's the ending, this is the kind of music I was brought up with so I love this style xD
Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon S OP - I'm crazy about SM! Moonlight Densetsu is one of my favourite anime songs because of its hilarious lyrics and a great tune.
Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon S EN - I'm a fan of slow songs and this tops as my favourite SM ending theme. The melody is loving and the lyrics are cute.

I played the rom (snes) version on the computer a long time ago and I really, really liked it. I would definitely recommend it. ^^
However, I'm not too sure about the GBA version. I've heard it isn't quite as good as the snes one. I would probably read reviews on it first. Someone told me that graphics-wise, it isn't as great...plus, some contents in the game have been changed or something like that.

Yeah, well ToP has never been released in the UK before until the GBA release. I would love to download the ROM and play it but I'm not allowed to do that on my pc (parent's think it might kil the thing xD).
I don't judge games on graphics and gameplay mainly. I've heard good reviews of the game and that it was a very muched loved part of the series. Ouran High School Host Club- Great anime... I fell in love with it afterthe first episode.

What other theme songs?

Alright.... I just finished watching this entire anime. I swear this is the most unique anime I've ever seen in my entire life. A huge sleeper anime hit... It seems the episodes are purposely mixed up so that you'd be forced to watch it over again in the correct order so you can properly understand the story and hidden jokes here and there. I'm about to watch it in the right order now, but not before sharing the opening and ending themes... I enjoyed the ending more. I cracked up after seeing it.
BTW, you'd have to watch a few episodes before you can actually get into it. It's like "pain in the butt" and "pure genius" put together. Hard to explain... >_> Ah well. Just enjoy...

Full Metal Alchemist 1st OPMelissa - Porno Graffitihttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4pqr7rZvsQMy favourite opening from FMA. I like this better than READY STEADY GO! I like the song too, very catchy. The band name is kind of odd, though.
Full Metal Alchemist 3rd (?) EDMotherland - Crystal Kayhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do5eJUXeaqQVery pretty song. Nice pictures of Winry as well. Well, some of them...

Elfen Lied's OP "Lilium" is bloody amazing. Seriously. The visuals (based on Gustav Klimt's paintings) are just... jaw-droppingly beautiful and vibrant. The song sounds like an old, Latin hymns and... sigh, it's just beautiful, and very classy.
As for endings, I love Samurai Champloo's ending, "Shiki no Uta." It has a hip-hop backdrop and it sounds so smooth and good. I love MINMI's vocals for this one, too. Everyone should listen to it. XD

Reckless Fire- Scryed OP Raise your hand if you think the first bars sound like Ricky Martin's "She Bangs"! |
*raises hand*
That's hilarious. XDD
I always loved the Chrono Cross intro. I'll try to find a video of it. The song, "Time's Scar", is amazing.

Has anyone ever heard of or seen an anime called
Fate/Stay Night?
I've seen just the OP, and I like it. It looks like it's set to modern time, but has some...medieval characters in it? Looks interesting...

That would be another H-game based anime. I've seen it all already. It's pretty good. My friend actually played the game and says they focus on the good "Saber Storyline"... or something along those lines. >_>;;
Anyway, like the majority of H-game based animes, the art is well above average. The story is decent, although it would be more enjoyable(Lol, I'm guessing) to watch if you were familiar with the characters, I guess.
Hope H-game based animes don't scare people off from watching them. There are some pretty good ones out there... Some good examples would be, "Shingetsutan Tsukihime" and "Kimi ga Nozomu Eien"... Some of my favorites.
And just for this post I'll post some H-game based anime OPs and EDs... Some of my favs, of course... Couple slow songs but I still like them.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=-ngk57cI4M4Ahh... never knew I've seen so many H-game based animes. o.O; Just googled up some H-game animes and weeded out the ones I haven't seen.
Some of them really caught me by suprise... I never would have thought "Air" was an H-game. >.O
Well... Just enjoy. ^^
EDIT: Sorry sorry, I just HAD to to mention that Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is one of my absolute favorite animes.(Top 5 overall, and Top 1 when it comes to Drama Animes) It's the ONE AND ONLY anime that has ever made me cry. Yes, I cried like a baby... It's just that good. Heck, I didn't even cry during "Grave of the Fireflies" while my other friends were bawling right next to me. =P Anyway, great anime; anyone who can get a hold of it should check it out. ^_~

On second thoughts, I'll just see if I can get my hands on it and check it out myself. ^^
