Another lyric post by me. This time it's a song from The Fray: How To Save A Life. After listening to this song over and over again, it reminds me of how everyone in FFVII felt after Aerith died. There is a part of the song that remind me of how Cloud and Aerith last spoke. Cause didn't it happened at night in Cloud's dream when she told him, "I'll come back when it's all over." I'll bold that part and I'll italic the part that reminds me of everyone else. And just now, I realized that the verses remind me of Cloud and Aerith. Nevertheless, here is the lyrics.

How To Save A Life by The Fray

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
And you begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

How to save a life
How to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

How to save a life

Hmm. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see it. This song is about a man and a woman in a relationship that's falling apart. The woman is makes one last attempt to fix their relationship:

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you

She's listing everything that's gone wrong with them and she's praying he'll listen to her. Instead, he gets angry and lashes out at her:

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice

She's trying to make it work, to pull through with him, but he's not listening.

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

The chorus is summing this up: She has a late night talk with him to resolve the issue, but he's so bitter he refuses to listen and ends up losing her. Now he regrets it and thinks that he should have stayed up and listened to her. The life he failed to save is his own.

I guess everyone has their own opinion and I saw it a bit differently.

This song seems more CloTi than Clorith.
