Title: 80's Cartoons
Description: He-Man, She-Ra, Jem, Thundercats etc.

Hi there. I was reading another post and Anti-R had mentioned Shera making her thing of She-Ra and it got me thinking about old 80's cartoons. I don't know how many other people on this forum would know about them but I must say I am biased towards them over early 90's cartoons. Power Rangers? TeleTubbies(is that how you spell it?), Barney eww. I am glad I grew up on Sesame Street(I was a huge Big Bird fan). Anyhoo. Does anyone want to talk about their old favorites? Mine was He-Man. I LOVED that cartoon. I haven't been brave enough to look at now that I am older but honestly it was the coolest for me. I also lke Thundercats and Jem alot.

Would anyone else like to chime in...or just share your favorite cartoons no matter the year they were made?

Thundercats.....HO!!!!!!!

Thundercats were my first all time favorite. I couldnt remember the year it came out, but it was a good series. He-man was great too! Im starting to reminsce of the old-school cartoons....
Power Rangers was good and still is. Apparently they havent stopped showing it on KidsWB. ^_^

Im not sure if this one counts, but there was a cartoon/anime called Ronin Warriors that came out awhile back. Anyone remember that one?

From being a product from the 80's myself, I remember most all them old cartoons and to this day I will watch alot of them. My favorite to this day is still the TransFormers. Others I was fond of would be, M.A.S.K, C.O.P.S, G.I. Joe, He-Man, She-Ra, Dirk the Daring (yes Dragons Lair game had a cartoon), Pac-Man, Jem and the Holograms, Voltron, Robotech, Danguard Ace, Centerions, Bozo the Clown (sure, not a cartoon but i loved 80's Bozo, he was good then). As I stated above, I still watch them when I can and thanks to DVD's and the internet p2p I am able watch complete series finally.

Nyrin I loved the link you gave us! Thank you so much, wow it really takes me back. It is amazing how different it looks to you as an adult vs. when you were a kid. It is a fun website I recommend checking it out to reflect ;)
Nyrin you called it exactly right with me :giggle:

Sadly, I was born in the later 80's, so I don't recall most of those titles. However, I did recently watch some of the first season of Thundercats at a friend's house, and OMG. It's cheesecorn! It's hilarious! I LOVE IT. XD

Thunder! THUNDER! THUNDERCATS, HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~! :lmao:

Paladin's Heart - September 13, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
-revives, sorry for bringing back such an old topic-

What about Chuck Norris' Karate Kommandos? I'm not even born in the 80's but I saw a few eps on Youtube and...:lmao: I'm sorry, but I'm not sure that's from the 80's or not.

Deadly Dolphins on the Coast of Florida with Lazers on their backs...w00t!

Did anyone watch the Mario and Legend of Zelda cartoons! Oh geez! "Well Excuuuuse me Princess!"

goddess_in_pink07 - September 13, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
Does Rainbow Brite and My Little Pony count??

MistaCloudStrife - September 13, 2006 11:31 PM (GMT)
I was born in Germany(Military Brat) so I dont know if the shows were different or not than in the US, but back in the day I would watch Ninja Turtles, Transformers, and GI Joe. This was probably in the late late 80s when I was about 4-6 years old.

Just DLed the entire Transformers series and put it in my iPOD about 3 months ago too. Great anime. I think my sister(10 yrs older than me) said she watched it when she was little too. I guess those born in GenX all know about this anime.... it was pretty popular back then.

Hades' Daughter - September 13, 2006 11:44 PM (GMT)
Let's see...I remember I use to watch Thundercats and Transformers. I also recall Disney's Tales Spin and Duck Tales. Those two were my favorites back then.

Oh, and did anyone else watch the cartoon King Arthur with the whole football team thingy?

The original series... The one made in like 1984. I also DLed all of Beast Wars, but I have yet to add it into my iPOD.

OMG, I used to love She-Ra when I was a kid. I used to get the She-Ra fan magazine and they had a new poster in every issue. I still have my She-Ra toys somewhere in the attic. And I loved My Little Pony, too! I still have all of my MLPs, too.

:hyper: OMG!!! I watched the Mario cartoons! My brother and I were such huge fans of it! :hyper: And we'd always get so frustrated by the Zelda clips at the end, because they were so short and omfg why wouldn't the local TV channels show them?!

Gah, now I can almost hear English!Link saying that line... Did he ever, ever, EVER say that in his own games??

Other old cartoons we used to watch avidly, although I was born in '86 so I'm not sure if these count as 80's cartoons:

- Ninja Turtles (I don't think Malaysia showed this on national TV, as I remember we used to buy the video tapes for the episodes-- OMG, and now I remember when a VCR was the best thing in the house... :fangirl: Leonardo was my favourite and my brother liked Raphael-- but we always get pwned because most of the episodes we got always focused on Michaelangelo.)

- Transformers (my and my brother's favourite was Jazz(sp?). Optimus Prime, obviously, was god. XD)

- Swat Cats (It might've been spelt "Swat Catz", but it's basically in a world of cats and two junkyard/mechanics double duty as heroes who protect the city from evil villains-- there's the typical "rival" Police Chief, a bumbling mayor and the smarter, beautiful female assistant who, of course, is on the Swat Cats' side... I liked Jake.)

- Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs (I watched this anime back when I didn't know there were such things as anime. XD Another one of those small-robots-combine-into-giant-robot shows, albeit with a Western twist to it. Saber Rider was my childhood crush  )

- Batman: The Animated Series (NOT the 60's one with Batman and Robin in those eye-murdering shorts. This might be more 90's, but it remained a huge favourite with us nonetheless, and we were very sad when the series finished. Very dark, literally and metaphorically, often quite creepy and just... so cool. That was my favourite design of the Dark Knight, although I like the longer ears he was given in the Justice League series.)

- Ultraman (Okay, I just had to throw that in. They had a series running in the 1980s-- titled what else but "Ultraman 80"-- but my favourite series actually came in the 70's.)

*wanders off reminiscing* Must watch the Turtles movie when it comes out~

So speaking of She-Ra and such I just got the best of She-Ra and He-Man DVD. I still remember taking my yellow She-Ra lunchbox to school with me when I was in kindergarten. I LOVED that lunch box.

I haven't watched them yet, I am kind of afraid to but at the same time I was so excited to get that. And honestly even if they are really bad I will still cherish them because of the find memories I have as a child. Yay for cheesefest!

Cynel: I believe Looney Tunes started in the seventies but honestly this can be about any cartoon that you like. Many cartoons I liked are from the early 90's not just the 80's so feel free to comment on any cartoon that you want to.

Goddess in pink: Yes they most definately count!

Lynn: I loved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles too! Michelangelo was my favorite.

Oh well in that case... I  My little Pony and RB! Their soo cute. I remember watching both in my childhood... I mean, I so totally believe that RB and My Little Pony have rubbed off to me.... I'm a total rainbow and Pink pony lover. Maybe its the reason for my odd taste for girliness....

And, I can't forget Carbears. I loved them. My fav was always Rainbow Bear. Teehee! :fangirl:
