I remember, many, many years ago there was this site. It has a "quiz" of whether you were a fan of Aeris, Tifa or neutral. The questions asked basically asked your opinions and had answers that were either against Tifa or against Aeris or neutral. If you got Aeris fan it would say You are a true Aeris fan and hate Tifa. If you got Tifa it would say you are a true Tifa fan and hate Aeris. If you got neutral it would say you aren't a true fan of either Aeris or Tifa. It said other stuff, but it wasn't a spoof quiz, it was a serious quiz on a serious website. Both Tifa and Aeris are good characters. Saying that you can't be a true fan if you like both characters is just not something a web site owner should say. Both characters are great and you don't need to hate one character to like the other. Some people don't understand that you can like both characters and not be betraying one character by liking another. The website where that quiz was had shut down many years ago, but really, people should be able to be fans of both. Both characters got along well. If this topic belongs with another topic or in another category, please move it. Both characters have their strengths and weaknesses and you can be a fan of both of them.

I agree with you completely. I'm both a fan of Tifa and Aerith, both are great characters. I hate when people say if your a fan of one, you can't possibly be a fan of the other. Thats so untrue. Both have different qualities that attract fans to them. I really wished people realized that it is possible to be a fan of both. Its really a shame when you have a Tifa fan bashing Aerith just because its Aerith, and Aerith fans bashing Tifa because its Tifa. Its like they think "Well, I like this character better so therefore I hate the other one." And while I respect peoples opinions on why they don't like a character, some of the reasons they give aren't good enough reasons to me. Like, "OMG! Shes teh slut!!!1111!" No, doesn't cut it for me. If you don't like a character for an actual reason then thats different.

Ugh, I hate it when people assume that if you like either character you MUST hate the other. That COULD be true if they were polar opposites and you only liked one type over person but they're NOT.
They're both very caring, they're both brave, they both only do what they think is right....neither is a bad person.
Now, I have to admit I prefer Aeris, but that doesn't mean I HATE Tifa. I like her alot. She isn't perfect, but that's okay. And being neutral towards the whole debate means you hate both of them? Sheesh

I Love both Tifa and Aeris. If you like one of them what is stoping you of likeing them both.
My freind is exactly the same. She likes Aeris and is a Cloti fan she accepts that iam a Cleris.
But a few days ago she asked me who do you prefer Tifa or Aeris?

I answerd I Love them both they each have good qualitys for characters. Then she started arguing with me.
Saying you Carn't like them both you have to love one and hate the other.

Then i answerd it is my opinion you just have to accept that both Tifa and Aeris are both good strong femail characters.

In all seriousness, yes, I agree with what everyone has said. Just because you like one character doesn't mean you have to hate the other. Tifa and Aerith sure as anything didn't hate each other in the original game. It puzzles me as to why fans feel like they have to hate the other character when even the characters themselves didn't hate each other in the first place! (try saying that quickly three times! :lmao: )

Tifa and Aerith in a way....I guess you could sort of compare them to Cloud and Aerith (without the romance factor, of course). Tifa is very much similiar to Cloud, she is insecure, emotional, shy, keeps her feelings to herself and very caring. Aerith is the opposite, the outgoing, cheerful, optimistic and warm character.
As friends, I think they would have had a great deal of chemistry together, and ultimately Aerith and Tifa would have been very good for each other, for the opposite personalities would have no doubt helped to bring out the best in each other. Aerith would be very good for Tifa, like how good she is for Cloud. Tifa would need a friend like Aerith, so she can open up a bit more. They balance each other out, and I think that's a fantastic thing to have in a friendship. ^_^

Yeah, like everyone's said, you can definitely love both characters. I do. Even though I slightly like Aerith's character more than Tifa's doesn't mean that I HATE Tifa. I used to, but that was just a stupid phase I got over very quickly.

This kind of ties in to the topic... I really don't like it when people almost feel obligated to hate either of the two girls just because they strongly support one side of the LT. Just because we're Cleriths doesn't mean we have to hate Tifa. Just because someone's Cloti doesn't mean they have to hate Aerith. And yet, I think a lot of people do simply because they're strongly on a certain side of the pairing war. Tifa's not a slut just because we don't pair her off with Cloud. I see that a lot at some stupid IMDb threads on FFVII. Someone always plays the character elimination game, and Clotis are ALWAYS taking away points from Aerith and giving them to Tifa (I say Clotis do this because I've actually never seen a Clerith do this at IMDb). If these people could just open their eyes beyond the pairing war, and enjoy the game for what it was, I think they would see that both Aerith and Tifa are lovely women, despite the fact that they're both in love with Cloud and their either Clerith or Cloti. Sure, you don't HAVE to like both of the girls... but it's ignorant to just blindly hate either of them because of the LT.

People often mistake me for being a Tifa-hater. :P Was it just because I prefer Cloud's love belong to Aerith? Does it mean that I hate Tifa already? Ha, call me crazy Clotis if I say so I am a Tifa fan. Which I am, seriously. What's up? How come Aerith and Tifa keep up their friendship even sharing the same affection to the same guy? I believe at the saying, "Never end your friendship on a guy", I have met a lot of people having this situation, and results are ends of friendship. It seems so useless, you know what I mean? I met rare Clotis who actually befriends with me. Majority, Clotis are rabid.
Going back to Tifa, I respect her for her love for Cloud, and imo, she's pretty strong to stop hoping Cloud can ever feel the same way, I think she rstands she can never be significant the way Aerith is to Cloud, it's not that I am saying Tifa is not. There are a lot of things Tifa is that Aerith is not and vice versa. I won't tell because I know I'll go off topic. Anyway, I think both characters done great deal for Cloud, but to be honest, I think Aerith done more. :sweat:
