Title: Aerith's Role In Ac
Description: What are you hoping for?
Anastar - January 1, 2005 11:09 AM (GMT)
I think we're all hoping for Aerith's role to include a resolution of the love triangle in favor of Cloud and Aerith, but how else will Aerith be involved in the movie?
I'm hoping that she's more than just a psychological counselor to Cloud. I'd really like to see her involved in the actual plot of the movie somehow. For example, it would be great if Aerith were to help fight Geostigma, Sephiroth, or the SHM on a spiritual level. Since Geostigma is effecting the Lifestream, she may be able to do something, or at least advise Cloud how to stop it. If Sephiroth is only a spirit, I'd love to see Aerith take him on, too.
The one scene where Cloud is about to enter a building and you hear Aerith's voice say, "Let's go... Cloud..." indicates that she will be involved somehow. Coral (who saw the AC premier in Paris) said that she thought Cloud was about to enter the Church. That would make sense, since the Church is supposed to be an important location in the movie. But what could be happening there?
I'm still hoping that Aerith's role will be significant. Aerith was a significant part of FFVII, and it would be a shame to give her nothing but a bit part in the movie.
Carmencita - January 1, 2005 11:20 AM (GMT)
I hope she isn't just there to boost Cloud's spirits... even though that's a great thing for her to do, it's still a small part for such a phenomenal character like her. :D
Is the whole movie going to be in Cloud's POV?... wait, Kadaj has his own moments, right? Will there be a few portions in the movie where we get to see Aerith's POV on all the things that are happening?
Clorith - January 1, 2005 01:39 PM (GMT)
Hohoho, this reminds me of a certain thread. I'll post there again if you do.
I hope she has an important role, too. There's so much room to fit her into the main plot, you'd think SE were mad if they didn't.

I think that thread is bit too huge and confusing for at least me to go there again. ^_^
It's full of flaming and trolls anyway...
But if Aerith doesn't have a large role in AC I will not cry, as I am still hoping they will make a game, a sequel to FFVII where Aerith is the main character so we can learn everything there is to learn about her. Wouldn't it be fun for a change if we would get to play Aerith who is trying to reunite with Cloud and not the other way around? :D
And besides I want another female lead character, we haven't had one since Terra. *pout* <_<
Sakura27 - January 1, 2005 08:03 PM (GMT)
I really hope we get to see Aerith's face I bet she will look very beautiful espicialy her lovely green eyes. Anyway, her role is very important in the movie, it would be cool to see her in action and then again that scene with Cloud flying I think Aerith gave him her power.Oh well we just have to wait see :P .
Clorith - January 2, 2005 04:48 AM (GMT)
LOL, Andina is forgetting FFX-2. :P
I'd love an Aerith game, but... I doubt SE would ever do that, unless they're willing to alienate about half their fanbase. Well, we'll see how it goes.
*crosses fingers* Aerith's face, Aerith's face... And AC in Feb! *crosses fingers and hopes*
wilhelm - January 2, 2005 05:23 AM (GMT)
I don't see why a game with Aerith as the lead would alienate half the fans anymore than Dirge of Cerberus/Before Crisis alienates people who don't like Vincent/Turks, unless it was along the lines of "Aerith and Cloud's Big Lovey-Lovey Adventures of Love ~There's No Tifa In This Game~" (which chances are it wouldn't be).
slowerthanaverage - January 2, 2005 10:49 AM (GMT)
aww wilhelm is right...I am not even interested in DC or BC  don't hate me ,yes vinny and reno are cute but they hardly accelerate my heartbeat..
ps:wilhelm ur avvie is lovely.
Just today, I was looking through some of the theories on AC online...and there's this one that suggested that Aerith can communicate to the children in midgar. See in the game after her death, two kids were seen in her church, and if you talk to them, they apparently saw Aerith.
So seeing how in AC Kadaj is trying to mess up the children's mind and get them to do something obviously nasty for him, Aerith might play a direct role in antagonizing Kadaj's control over the children...woooh hotness, Aerith vs Kadaj  Ahem.. don't mind me...

Yes...I'm guilty...*sob*
I loved X-2 but I still always forget it, perhaps because it's more of a sequel than anything.
But I still want to see Aerith as the leading character! I could care less what others like or want to see, I want Aerith!!! :P
If she would be the lead we could see Cloud and everyone else in a completely different light. That would be fascinating. ^_^
Clorith - January 2, 2005 06:57 PM (GMT)
I would love it, too!
Well, I think there are a good number of people who won't consider playing it simply out of spite because she's the lead character. Maybe people grow up and things change. I hope, anyway.
I can't say I'm very interested in DC, actually. Yeah Vincent, cool. But right now they're not giving me much reason to play it if I'm not a hardcore Vincent fangirl. Not really one of those that plays DMC-esque action games. I do like watching my brother play it from time to time, though.
BC on the other hand I do want to play. Simply because I think using the camera function to acquire materia sounds fun.
Anastar - January 2, 2005 07:52 PM (GMT)
I'm more interested in DC than BC, actually. LOL!
What will really spark my interest in any of them is an appearance from Aerith. Maybe that's why I'm beginnig to feel down on AC. The lack of Aerith info is getting me disinterested. At first, I was very anxious to see where Aerith would enter into it and I kept watching the AC news incessantly for more about her. As time went on and we've learned so little, though, I've grown less and less interested.
This is your sequel, Square - if any character besides Cloud should play a significant role in this, it should be Aerith.
Aerith_kun - January 4, 2005 07:21 PM (GMT)
I suppose Aeris role will be more "spiritual" or "omnipresent", but I keep my hope that her role will be important ^^... For physical role is Tifa...
But Nomura said in Venice Film Festival that Aeris fans wouldn´t be dissapointed. And I don´t think that Nomura said something like that if Aeris appears in the movie 5´5 mins and we don´t see her face either ¬¬...
Coral - May 13, 2005 09:33 AM (GMT)
You're right Aerith_kun! We should believe Nomura even if he prefers Tifa (and CloudxKadaj lol!)
I hope Aerith will have an important and credible part in the story. But I'm sure she already has ^^
*dreams of Aerith coming from the Promised land at the end of the movie and Cloud speechless in front of her surnatural yet honest beauty; and she will save the whoooole world ^^ is it credible enough? :P*

:D Maybe he prefers Aerith?
Since some Clotis claimed the FFVII game gave equal, if not more, evident attention towards Cloti...yet Nomura chose to pair Aerith with Cloud in KH :cleris:
Of course, for me, I believe the game has already given us an answer, and KH reaffirms that ;)
rubenz - June 5, 2005 02:13 PM (GMT)
i hope that i can see aerith more in AC,and hope she can heals cloud also
im so sad when aerith died in game, hope it will become good and not dissapointing again
Huntress Krystle - July 24, 2005 11:03 PM (GMT)
I just want Aeris to be given a second chance to live and I want her to give a new hope to Cloud because he distanced himself from the others after Aeris' death. I also wish that she'd be the one to heal cloud. She is worthy of that- not Tifa.
Marlene - July 24, 2005 11:09 PM (GMT)
If its anything like the other FF7's,I'm sure it would be alot of the movie.
Hopefully.
Pink_Angel - July 27, 2005 03:29 PM (GMT)
i want arith to come back to life and adopt both marlene and denzil (i don't think Tifa is doing a good job marlene got kidnapped aerith wouldn't let that happen) and have children of there own
when i first saw the initials of ac i thought it stood for aerithxcloud!!! :woot:

I know! I think Aerith would make a good mum too. Didn't you see how much Marlene liked her? She kept asking about the flower lady. Marlene always looks so depressed around Tifa! lol.
slowerthanaverage - July 27, 2005 03:51 PM (GMT)
Are you kidding me? Marlene is happy with Tifa. If Aerith is ever revived, she deserves quality time with Cloud ALONE. Who needs pesky children to be around when adults are busy with... :X
:P Strictly my humble opinion. Don't hurt me.

Haha! Are you forgetting that Marlene is the adopted daughter of Barret?
Aerith's role for me would to make Cloud understand that there is nothing wrong with them and that she will always be with him no matter what. Also for Aerith to be involved more in the plot somehow, just not something silly.

Hahaha, oh ok, that's a good idea too! Maybe Barret and Tifa should get togehter! :)
Oh I want Aerith to come back, but I don't think that is what they will do! Anyway, at least Cloud can reach her. In fact, ONLY Cloud can reach her right? She only appears to him, so even if she doesn't come back to life, that is still a very strong bond of love that they share.

Join the club.
I'll have to agree that Tifa is a better mother-figure to Marlene. It's nothing to do with both women's personalities, it's just that Tifa's been a prescence in Marlene's life for so long. Aerith is more like a 'role model' for her, wouldn't you agree?
Alan Bates - July 28, 2005 02:16 AM (GMT)
I really can't see Tifa and Barret as a couple. They make good freinds, but I don't see much romance between them.
Pink_Angel - July 28, 2005 03:43 AM (GMT)
but marlene likes aerith more! she told cloud that aerith liked him and then she said she wouldn't tell tifa!
i thought tifa was marlenes mother and she was flirting with cloud while married to barrette but i think aerith would do a better job 'cause she and cloud would have one of their own soon anyway!!
Wingless - July 28, 2005 04:04 AM (GMT)
Kusari, that's a great example. Tifa is the "mom" figure of Marlene's life while Aerith is the "heroine" or the "role model". Everyone has many influential figures in their lives, and their role models are rarely the same people who birth them. :D So it makes sense that Aerith is more Marlene's role model, since Tifa has been in the mother role consistently for Marlene. Aerith is more Marlene's hero. :D (to put it in a silly light. ;p)
As for Aerith's role, I think she's definitely going to have a substantial role, even if she has only ten-fifteen minutes of screen-time. She is definitely going to be Cloud's guide and his light (as always :P). But I think she might also have yet another large role to play, with the return of Jenova as being important to the story. After all, Aerith has always been one of the key factors in defeating Jenova and her spawn. Since the battle is between Jenova and the Ancients, after all. So I think Aerith's role as far as the plot goes is going to be just as important as ever, if done in a subtle fashion. Just like in the game. :aeris:
yin-chan - July 28, 2005 12:58 PM (GMT)
aww Wingless, I couldn't have said it better myself. ^_^
Yes, Tifa was a much more mother figure to Marlene as Marlene grew up being in the care of Tifa a lot. Aeris would be kind of like the 'favourite aunt' kind of figure. *^_^*
Aeris must have an important role of AC! She is on the CD, after all~ XD

Considering what she had done in VII and how she saved the planet she should have a very big role in AC!
FF_Goddess - July 29, 2005 12:25 AM (GMT)
Actually, the disk with Aerith's picture on it is from FFVII International. ^_^

I completely agree, Leon. Just because she doesn't have a lot of screen time doesn't mean she won't have a huge impact on the story. How much screen time did Tidus have in FFX-2?
For that matter, how much screen time did Aerith have in the second and third disks of FFVII? Tifa had way more screen time than Aerith in FFVII, but many of us still consider Aerith to be the main female heroine of the story. Aerith still had a huge impact on FFVII's story during the second and third disks, but we only saw her in the waterfall of the Forgotten City during Disk Two, her hand during the hand reach scene, and her face at the end of the game. Aerith only had three appearances on screen after her death, but she still had a huge impact on the story.
The whole group also talked about her many times in the second and third disks, especially Cloud. Aerith was talked about in the tapes at Icicle Town, when the group went to Bugenhagen in Cosmo Canyon, before and after finding the Key to the Ancients in the Forgotten City, at two different times on board the Highwind, as the group faced Sephiroth, and during the final FMV. Aerith wasn't simply forgotten, like the Cloti's like to think she was.
Buhon - July 30, 2005 12:13 AM (GMT)
I completely agree with everyone here (especially Kusari's excellent evaluation of Tifa and Aerith's role in Marelene's life), and don't have too much to add here. All I will say is since Square is STILL teasing everyone with new "obscured face" images of Aerith that this means that something big and/or important is going to be done with her in AC, at least. Beyond that I cannot speculate, though as a benevolent and omnipresent spirit and the last Cetra who sacrificed herself to save the world, it'll be hard to NOT do something majorly important with her in AC...

I completely agree, Buhon. Since SE is still hiding her face, I think her face has a significant part in the movie. I've heard some people say that SE may just be hiding her face because she's beautiful - but I think SE would be wanting to show her off instead of hiding her if that were the case. No, I think her face has some significance. They're not wanting us to see her face before Cloud does.
Kusari Yarou - August 4, 2005 03:17 AM (GMT)
And good grief, think what this will do to their sales! Aerith is a very beloved character, people have, in turns, been wanting her resurrection and 'mourning' her death through 7-8 years. All Square could do was give Aerith to her fans in a way that doesn't interfere with her overall role in FF7: hence she's alive and kicking in other games unrelated to FF. But now Aerith's in AC! She's significant! She actually appears in a corporeal form! I think hiding Aerith's face is SE's way of saying: "Here's what you've been waiting for...but you're gonna have to wait a little more" ;)
Neko-Neko-Bear - October 6, 2005 05:39 PM (GMT)
...I want to see Aeris whack someone with her staff. I mean, a real fight scene, like:
Aeris: *Takes Princess Guard and beats monster over head*
You can't tell me that it wouldn't be cool to see Aeris kick some behind and take some names.
:P
Too bad that doesn't happen, with the whole dead thing ;_; XD

I couldn't agree more. That would have been the highlight of the entire movie for me. :P Aeris whacking Sephi over the head for being such a bad bad evildoer. :lmao: She was pretty handy with that staff of hers in-game. :aeris:
I was pretty disappointed that Aeris was given such little screen time I really wanted to see her fight or heal to be exact. ^^Let's hope SE will remake FF7, we may have a chance to see her in action then.

Starlight Night - October 17, 2005 04:29 AM (GMT)
I think she needed more time on-screen, but I was happy for what she did for Cloud. So sweet, yet... silly with what Zack said.
Holy_Aeris - October 17, 2005 08:05 AM (GMT)
Aeris just made the movie complete!! I'm so glad we got to see her in the end!
pinkishtohsie - October 26, 2005 12:52 AM (GMT)
I liked how they used her though. The moment she appeared onscreen, I get that feeling of satisfaction. It's like a horror movie. You don't get to see the monster until the middle or end of the movie. But of course.... Aeris isn't a monster. :P
