Title: Most Annoying Monster

Vincent_Valentine - July 24, 2006 01:14 PM (GMT)
In all the Final Fantasy, which do you think is the most annoying monster. For me, it'll definately have to be the Marlboro's. They have attacks that can give all your characters status ailments like stone & poison. Stone is what really got me because when they attack, sometimes all my characters would get stoned simultaneously. That sucked :P

Yukari - July 24, 2006 02:44 PM (GMT)
Definitely those damned Marlboros. I'm one of those types of players who leaves status ailments to wear off or be removed at the end of the battle, since it's usually only one of your party who's affected. But Marlboros just have to use their special breath attack that gives your entire party every status ailment known to man. <_< I hated them most on FFVIII because you actually have to search them out and fight them to get their tentacles in order to upgrade the party's weapons. Super annoying.

aerisbolt - July 24, 2006 03:15 PM (GMT)
I think I will have to agree with both of you as well. I might edit this ater when I think of other enemies that drive me up a wall but right now my mind is blank.

I know for me any enemy that makes your characters confused always annoys me, it can get pretty tedious after while.

FF_Goddess - July 24, 2006 05:45 PM (GMT)
Would have to agree with the majority here and say Malboro, especially the ones in FFVIII. I swear, it's a hit-and-run fest when trying to collect the Malboro tentacles for weapons and Doomtrain. <_<

SweetJanie - July 24, 2006 06:27 PM (GMT)
For me it depends of the FF, really... In 7 it was those damn frogs. Argh, I hate them!! >o< In 8 yeah, damn Malboros... In 9 and 10... I dunno, really... Maybe some creature that takes a while to defeat and gives you very little money and experience? I hate it when that happens. TT__TT

Edit: In FFX-2 I HATE that big monter with a shield that has a huge defense and attack power >_< And Yunie has no Aeons there so it sucks to kill the bastard T^T *always relied on Yuna's aeons to defeat ebal monsters*

Well, you figured out my reason. Their attack Bad Breath had really pissed me off! I tried junctioning magic on Status defense to prevent the status ailiments, but it was no help. And I hated them too when I needed their tentacles for Quistis' Save the Queen final Weapon. And after all of that, I still couldn't have beaten them.

Hey! Isnt Save the Queen the name of Beatrix's weapon on FFIX?

Plus, another monster that annoyed me somehow was the Ruby Dragon and the T-Rexuar.

*FVIII Side Quest Spoiler*

Well actually, on Disc four there were two islands on FFVIII that you could get experience from called "The Island Closest to Heaven" and "The Island Closest to Hell". The Island Closest to Heaven had monster who used continuos magic attacks (just like the Malboros) and the other island had monster with continous physical attacks (like Ruby Dragon and T-Rexaur). THEY ALL PISSED ME OFF!!!!!!

I couldn't get half of the teams ultimate weapons.....(So I started all over)

Anti-R - July 25, 2006 03:36 AM (GMT)
Marlboros. Ack. Especially when you're forced to fight it in those places that specifically spawns them.

Toonberries. Yes, they are cute. But...

I only get Odin after defeating Seifer. And I relied on Odin to kill them before the battle started. ^^;

Man, why can't these guys get the (pink) Ribbon?

They're cute but DEADLY!!!! :fear: (As a matter of fact, everytime I see my mother with a butcher knife I think she's a Tonberry out to kill me!)

Do you not find those Tonberry's difficult to defeat? I did sort of. In FFVII and FFVIII their would only be one them against the team. But in FFIX, they came in numbers and moved even faster than from the previous games.

Is there a tonberry in FFX?

Paladin's Heart - July 25, 2006 01:16 PM (GMT)
Yea, There's a Tonberry in FFX I think.

I have to agree with you all and say Malboros! I think they were inspired by the Malboro Cigarette because Cigarettes give you bad breath and screw you up (status ailments), and, as Vincent put it, You 'get stoned'

In FF4, it was the Evil Masks. Oh my, These things would cast Reflect on itself and your party, then it would cast heavy-damage (especially to Rydia) spells like Utima and Flare onto itself, only to be reflected onto you. You can only heal yourself if he casts Bio on you or you die, because since the reflect would only reflect it onto him, and despell dosen't work. They take time to defeat but they were annoying!

I couldn't agree more.
I can't tell you how many times it happened to me that I had been playing for a long time without saving and ended up losing against a Marlboro >_<

Imaginary__girl - July 25, 2006 02:37 PM (GMT)
Yeah, the Marlboro's totally kicked my ass all the time. Mainly because of the status ailments on my party after it did its bad breath attack. <_< icky Marlboro...

haha! I never thought of that before! Maybe that is where they get there name! :lmao:

I also hated the Tonberry's. Those things were tiny so I underestimated them at first glance...but then...IT ATTACKED! And did massive damage to me...stupid Tonberry's. They are cute though :tonberry:

 Heh, did you also remember the fact they have one-hit kill attacks? :tonberry:

If there were Tonberry's In FFX, were their attacks and looks all the same?

Did anyone find a boss that was rather annonying?

My bosses were Omega and Ultima Weaponfrom FFVIII.

In the strategy guide, it told me Ultima Weapon's HP was in the thousands. So I believe them but then I found out they were wrong....Ultima Weapon had this one attack that had caused 9999 poits of damage and he was attacking simutaneously. It was annoying that I couldn't even carry out my battle plan with him going carzy on me <_< .

Omega Weapon was just annoying beacuase of the fact his HP was in the billions. And he was twice as stronger and fought just like Ultima Weapon.

Did any of you fight Omega Weapon?

They ARE cute! I've been looking for a Tonberry (I don0t know the right name in english, but the kind of toys that are like teddy bears :P does that make sense? :lmao: )

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - July 28, 2006 09:45 PM (GMT)
Let's see...I'll say Malboro from FF7, FF8 and FF10. Trying Morphing them and find out your Morpher (Yuffie) is a FROG!

FF8's Malboro doesn't need to do much for my party, they charged Berserked and the Poison slowly kills...they kills, I'll tell ya!

FF10 are annoying because they AMBUSH!

Strangely enough, FF9 didn't give me much trouble. Maybe because I kill them quickly...I love Zidane's speed.

I don't like Tonberries in FF10. They can counterattack everytime you made a move against them, even when you're Stealing and they STILL counterattack! Plus...there's the dreaded Karma... :tonberry: (And yet, I made up a Tonberry named 'Mr Death-Stabber'.)

Key - July 29, 2006 01:30 AM (GMT)
Tonberries and in FF8, those dragon monsters that can do 9,999 HP hits on your characters if Squall's level is high enough. Man, getting Lionheart made was no fun because of them.

Lockheart - July 29, 2006 01:54 AM (GMT)
marlboro's and tonberries i had no troubles with

what i had trouble with sometimes were those Cactaurs :\

especially if they do 10,000 Needles. i mean... INSTANT DEATH!
and they're pretty evasive too :(

Sadhana - July 29, 2006 01:58 AM (GMT)
Marlboro's... God, I hate those things. I'm not all that fond of tonberries either. I remember when I wanted to get that GF in FFVIII (I think it was Bahamut?) in that old recked place in the middle of the ocean. And you have to fight at least two Red Dragons. Wow, those were awful. I trained my guys so much that the dragons ended up being SOOOO hard to beat. They usually did a move that meant instant death before I could finish them off. They were annoying.

:cactuar:
Hmm...I agree with you Lockheart. Fighting the little ones took a lot speed to try and kill them all. Especially when you eanted to get a lop of AP, half of them end up running away! (And they only do 1,000 needles)

If you're talking about 10,000 needles, you must be preferring to the Jumbo Cactuar in FFVIII. He was a toughie too <_< ........

Scott - July 29, 2006 01:44 PM (GMT)
Those little balls in the Golden Saucer prison were tricky when occumpanied with bandits. They kept healing them while the bandits stole items. They weren't really tricky, but they took a while sometimes and quite a few items got taken.

Malboro's could be tricky, but if you were prepared for them (equip Ribbon etc) they weren't so bad. As for tonberries, they just took a while to kill. They were fairly slow so it gave enough time to heal if needed. Cactaurs are annoying because they can run away and have high dodging abilities (can't remember the name of that statistic for the life of me).

Yan's in FF IX were annoying. They were hard to find and only appear on one island in the game but defeating them gives you a high amount of EXP. So I stormed into battle and the little tiny goat-like creature cast comet and killed the lot of us. Sheesh.

Bloodbath - July 29, 2006 02:30 PM (GMT)
I don't remember a lot of the monsters that I fought. XD

But up there on the tippy-top were definitely the Malboros, along with the dragons... which kinda sucks because I lurve all dragons to bits. .__. The ruby dragons (the most powerful ones... right?) were so annoying, especially when you went down to get Eden... and no save-spots what so ever!

Oh, another were those leopard-like things. Y'know, those that cast status effects, as well as the ability Blaster? Goddamnit, they were so cute, but they were so evil.

Now that I think about it... I hate any monster that causes status effects. XD

Were you talking about the "Two-faced" monsters that either healed your team or self-destructed on a final attack?

You're talking about Coeurls, right? They can be a pain with Petrifying attacks and overkilling Blaster on low-leveled party.

I would like to add a monster from FF9...

I hate those sheep monsters.

I was traveling in the airship and land on a random island, looking for a good levelling up area and got my party overkilled...by TWO, adorable, looking SHEEP.

Carmen - July 30, 2006 02:57 AM (GMT)
Does anyone remeber those wierd creatures on the Gelnika (the crasehd plane below the ocean) in FFVII? I found those really annonying too.

Not just because of their status ailiments....Actually that wasnt too much of a problem. It was actually their physical strenght that got annoying because no matter how strong you got, they would still end up killing you in a second......

aerisbolt - July 30, 2006 03:45 AM (GMT)
I am with you Carmen! Those creatures can be very tough, and annoying.

Actually I have thought of another monster that I don't like at all. In FFVII, the boss in the Shinra Mansion when you open the safe, I always have a hard time with that boss, so therefore I really don't like that one at all.

Oh God! That boss was the most evil creature I ever had to battle in Final Fantasy. Lost Number. *shrieks at the sound of his horrifying name* :fear: I had more trouble with him then both Ruby and Emerald combined (though they didn't give me much trouble as I abused my W-Summon Knights of the Round attack).

It's not so much that I didn't know how to beat him 'cause I did. I had a strategy and everything. But I'm one of those people who rushes through the game, and then masters it after they've beaten it. So when I got to Shinra Mansion, I was really weak since I didn't want to train at all. Then Lost Number came along and ruined my life. I'm lucky I ever got Vincent at all.

Anybody beat Omega Weapon from VIII? I didn't want to try. But my brother beat him... after a few days. Someone should share a tale of Omega Weapon. Now that's scary.

Yeah, the little two-faced bouncing balls that could cast Cure 3.

The yan appear only on Vile Island and there is also a friendly variation of the beast. Though they are particlarly tricky to find. Here's a picture of one.

Thank you for naming the boss Sadhana! I couldn't remember it for the life of me. Shinra Mansion can be awlful if your level is to low.

Oh and Scott yes, Omega Weapon is the one in Ultimacia's castle, I looked it up because I couldn't remember  Thank goodness for those old guides I have haha

SweetJanie - July 30, 2006 03:08 PM (GMT)
I think the easiest Omega Weapon was FFX's. o.O I hated the one on VIII, damn attacks that kill us all in a flash -___-' Same with Ultima, I got Eden in Ultimacia's castle xDDD And still I can't beat it -___-'

Well... I never level up my charas like I should o_< I have a saved game where everyone's around level 40 in Ultimacia's castle xDDDD And when I say everyone, only the three main charas xDDD

I never fought with that sheep on IX, but it looks adorably evil <3

And it's funny, but Lost Number never gave me much trouble. o_o And like I said before, I never level up my characters, so maybe I'm lucky? xDDD

I still keep my FF guides for old memories sake ^-^.

Anyway, Omega Weapon had at least over 700,000 and up HP....Which kind of made the battle very diffcult. But as the guide stated, it wasnt like you were going to win anything or "unlock new ablilities". It was simply a challenge to test your skill. I browsed around and saw that a few FF players were calling Omega Weapon a "f***head" because he was too difficult to beat! 9Should have never fought him in the first place

I dont know Lost Number, wasn't all that hard. If your characters limit breaks and magic were leveled up pretty good you could have finished him off without too much hassle.....

Another Annoying monster, more like boss (and it was optional!) was Hades in the Memoria on FFIX. At first I started off doing fine, until Hades had kept on using his good attacks like Mustard Bomb and Curse repeatedly....then there was the countdown. In boss battles, countdowns scare the hell out of me because I panic from getting K.O by a final attack. And that the problem I had with Hades..

Hades had two options:
1. DoomsDay summon spell...It was kind of like a Meteor attack with special affects and all. But it still inflicted some serious damage.

2. The other one was when he had used a one-hit kill swipe with his sword. At least in the other attack you survived....This pissed me off.......

After I defeated him, the reward I got was pretty okay. He was actually running a Synthesis/Weapon shop I believe.

(Just a suggestion, the person who named this thread should change it from Most Annoying Monsters to Most Annoying Mon/Bosses)

So here are the pain in the ugly butt monsters:
Malboros (FFVII &FVIII) Im not sure if there were some in FFIV & X
Tonberrys (FFVII-FFX)
Unknowns and Coeurls from the Gelnika (FFVII)
Two-faceds (FFVII)
Omega Weapon (FFVIII & FFX)

Hades (FFIX)

Most annoying monster? Definitely the "Touch Me," the frogs from FFVII. The battles basically played out like this:

*AMBUSH!*
Frogs: *all use Frog Song*
Characters: *all fall asleep as frogs*
Frogs: *keep using Frog Song*
Me: *waits for Frog Jab* C'MON YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.
Characters: *finally wake up*
Me: YES! *uses Maiden's Kiss*

Haha..thats true too. So Touch Me's are added to teh list. But wasnt there an accessory to protect against Frog/Small or something like that instead of a Maiden's Kiss?

I found two more creatures rather annoying:

One Disc 1 towards the end, you're in the Temple of the Ancients. And sometime later you encounter these weird creatures that look like they have a gazillion eyes called "8-Eyes". They would use their drain attack and takes so much out of you so many times. But luckily you should've had Aeris "Great Gospel" Limit Break then.

Then in Disc 3, you're in the Crater going down taking the right path(from the fork in the path) towards your destination. Then when you fight you see a weird..I think it was an 8-armed or 4-armed creature (crap! Cant remember the name for the life of me!). I dont remember what it was but it kept attacking simmutaneously with an Added Effect of Poison and he had a "Pandora's Box" Enemy Skill.

Anyone of you knew what that was?

You just reminded me of Demon's Gate...or Wall or something like that! Just a big face and arms sticking out the wall and it had 10000 hp. It was the hardest thing on Disc 1 to me. Why was it annoying? Because I had to start the game again because there was no way out of there to train my party, they were all too weak. Having Aeris in my team then was a large downfall because I never used her, so she was fairly weak. I also never had Vincent, so that made matters worse! Aaaaaaahhhh painful memories.

Annoying... In FFX when you enter a battle, their are those stupid flying bats with 1 big eye... god i hate them. They get a free hit off me, and more than likely poison or confuse me... god thats annoying.

Or, in FFX-2 where you have to fight the ghost of Lady Yunalesca.... she was so hard i couldn't beat her...

Its the Demon's Gate alright. The boss was tough, aminly because of its physical attacks. But it was the stone attacks that got me!
 But it couldnt have been all that bad. If you had Aeris Great Gospel, that should have help. Along with the "Time" and "Barrier" Materia.

The only way I trained my team was to fight the same monsters repeatedly (Go to the clock room in the Temple of the Ancients and fall off tthe clock)...But I get what you're saying...

Yeah, the first time I played the game, I had some trouble with Demon's Gate. It took me two tries, but he was a very, very hard boss. The second time I played the game, I beat him pretty easily. But only because I had trained my characters to no end, and got Great Gospel for Aerith. Great Gospel was a MAJOR help.
