I've watched Advent Children for like the 90th time, and this time, I was with my friend who just recently finished playing the game (cause she was interested in it). Anyway, she seemed kind of bothered in how Aerith was portrayed in the movie. She said that Aerith was portrayed as a Goddess and seemed too powerful for someone who was only half cetra.
Well...I looked after each scene and thought, maybe she's right. Aerith does seem to be portrayed to be...a powerful being. The back-to-back flower scene with Cloud, helping Cloud up in defeating Bahamut, the holy water in which cures the Geostima, the rain of the holy water, and etc. She does seem to do a lot even when she's only a half cetra. I'm not trying to bring her down or anything, I'm just wondering.
I wouldn't say goddess, but she probably showed what being a Cetra means. Besides, this whole Lifestream manipulation had already been done by her at the end of the game, as explained in "Maiden that Travels the Planet".
Also, maybe she finally tapped into the whole Centra power that she had but never knew how to use before. That's also possible but you're right about her portrayal in the movie.
Also, Aerith could perform Great Gospel in the game as well, so it should be no suprise that she can use it to cure Geostigma and to heal injuries.
I also believe that the fact that she's in the Lifestream may have something to do with it. How much energy is in the Lifestream? She's had 2+ years to harness that power, learn how to use it to aid people.
And lets not also forget that Aerith is always strong, mentally, magically, and emotionally. If anyone could pull that off it's definately her.
