Title: Bush Tring To Ban Anime?

Tenshi_Aerith - July 12, 2006 01:40 PM (GMT)
Ok My friend heared that Bush was trying to ban anime is this true need to know ASAP, please :huggle:

Kuki Prower - July 12, 2006 01:46 PM (GMT)
Uh....this was heard about like three years ago! :lmao: I doubt he would start again, I think the reason he wanted to it because he saw anime as "adult" and far too much as a cruel and haunting image for children. Maybe he was looking up hentai  Naughty naughty president US of A :plot:

I wouldn't think about it, because you'd get millions of very angry anime fans, but this doesn't bother me because I live in Scotland.

SweetJanie - July 12, 2006 01:53 PM (GMT)
*doesn't care, prefers undubbed anime so yeah* As long as he doesn't close Youtube, I'm fine! :D

And they cut so many scenes already, completely banning anime wouldn't make much of a difference >__> But that's just me. Ah, blessed internet... <3

goddess_in_pink07 - July 12, 2006 03:04 PM (GMT)
meh, i don't think it could be banned... or he's lost my vote! :D LOL, but i don't think the could even if he wanted to.

Artec - July 12, 2006 03:51 PM (GMT)
:lmao: He can't ban anime! Who does he think he is? The king of the world? My god, I can't believe this man is running a country!

Aeris_gast - July 12, 2006 04:23 PM (GMT)
OMG! xDDDDDDD. this guy is crazy xDDDDD banning animes.

I don't think he can do it. Nobody can stop ideas difussion and animes (in my opinion the animes can show a lot of ideas)
If he couldn't stop Roger Moore I doubt he can ban animes.

But it's only mi opinion.

Gotta agree with this. I hate that some American dubbed anime come out butchered. No offense to you Americans :P

Inuyatta - July 14, 2006 09:19 AM (GMT)
I think SAG and AFTRA and...every freaking dub studio this side of the world will have something to say about it if he does. He'd be putting thousands outta business. But ease yourself, I don't think there's anything to this rumor. And if there is, God have mercy on him because the anime fans won't. XD

Resha - July 14, 2006 10:03 AM (GMT)
I know i am not American but if Bush tries to, I swear I'll be the first ever Korean Nazi to kill a president! XD i'm kidding. But that would be sad, because what the hell will i do in America without anime?! >_< yeah, i pretty much care traveling. XD He's a retard by the way.

Tenshi_Aerith - July 14, 2006 12:05 PM (GMT)
Well the thing is Sonikku my friend heared it from someone eles like 2 or so days ago and when I finally called her up that was the first thing that came out of her mouth so we wanted to know if anyone has heared anything about it. Thanks you guys I just wanted to know if you all knew anything about it and from what I've read he's not able to.

NekoDono - July 14, 2006 04:27 PM (GMT)
Some how this all sounds sorta...well...untrue. I maybe very liberal but certain, no brained extreme-leftists make up what ever they can to attack Bush, be it even "He's trying to ban anime". I mean, I hate Dubya's guts to no end. He was my governor back in Texas! I know his evil ways. But banning anime? That sounds waaaaay too far fetched for me.

Azerty - July 14, 2006 09:15 PM (GMT)
If he were to ban anime...then...do you know how many adult anime fans would want to impeach him. Even if dubbed anime sucks, at times...there are good dubs. However, as long as he never finds out about AnimeUpload...I'll be fine.

Nina - July 14, 2006 10:03 PM (GMT)
Wow, ban a culture's animation that people enjoy?? Who does Bush think he is?? (Well, as SJ-san said, as long as the blessed *~internet~* is still around, I guess it's all good. XD) But still. When my computer DOESN'T work I want to see my dear best friend on TV. *hugs all anime DVDs and TV*

Materia Thief - July 15, 2006 03:05 AM (GMT)
Honestly, I think this is really a stupid rumor.

Is there any proof beyond word-of-mouth? I'm not even certain if President Bush is aware of anime's existence. o_O;

I think people are over-reacting by automatically assuming he is. As well, there are way more important issues besides anime. Like, I don't know....people dying everyday in Iraq?

And although I'm not a fan of President Bush, I think the bashing needs to stop. A lot of it is rather senseless and people tend to place words or thoughts or actions upon him that are not his.

Kusari Yarou - July 15, 2006 04:36 AM (GMT)
Or if you wanna bash him, bash him for something other than banning anime! I mean, even IF that were true, it's silly to want someone impeached *because* of that.
But ahahahaha, no, a president banning anime is NOT far-fetched. Back in the Martial Law days here in the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos banned Voltes V. He claimed this was because it was 'violent' but in actuality, it was because the dubbers changed the main villain's name to Ferdinand

Well, while I agree that a PRESIDENT banning anime isn't far-fetched. An AMERICAN President banning anime is rather far-fetched.

EXACTLY. XD

I don't mind if people bash him, but seriously there are many reasons that are better or more substantial.

Azerty - July 15, 2006 07:06 PM (GMT)
Well, he has done a lot for people not to like him. Just shows how bad a leader he is.

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - July 15, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
Though I'm an Aussie, banning Anime in one of the anime's biggest fanbase isn't exactly a smart idea.

Even if they're 'violent', but we have ratings for that.

Even if girls wear mini-skirts or revealing clothes, again, ratings and dubbers making them kid-friendly like Sailor Moon.

Well, as long some series like Gravitation (which support shounen ai/Yaoi) isn't banned, I'm happy.*hugs my copy of the series*

Nevi - July 18, 2006 02:20 AM (GMT)
I doubt that this is true. I heard about this rumor a couple of years ago. When I heard it, the story went that some woman and her little council wanted to ban it because they deemed it "immoral."
But I think both stories are fakes. And I highly doubt that the George W. Bush would have the time to worry about the "immorality" of imported animation.

Sadhana - July 18, 2006 03:15 AM (GMT)
If this was true, I would laugh my head off because it would be just one more drop in the bucket I've labeled, "Reasons Why George W. Bush Is the Worst/Dumbest American President Ever." But since this topic isn't labeled "Let's Bash Bush!" (not that I would mind  ), I'll steer clear of doing just that as much as is possible for me.

This is probably a result of what I like to call the Broken Telephone Effect. For example, our lovable Dubya says that he disapproves of young children watching anime. It appears in the newspaper as, "Bush Takes A Stance On Anime." Mr Average-American-Joe picks up the paper, reads the headline, and tells his anime-loving kid how Bush is trying to ban anime. And, voila! Word is spread around school that Bush is banning anime.

In short, although I've already established how much this would make me laugh, this probably isn't true. Besides, he's done a hell of a lot worse IMO during his presidency than possibly trying to ban anime.

Lutearina - July 18, 2006 05:12 AM (GMT)
It was a rabid lady, actually. Right here:

http://www.petitiononline.com/cutiepie/petition.html

Stupidity.

QUOTE (Retard Anime Petition)
1) Ah My Goddess: A sick and disgusting show which causes children under the age of 18 to think they are capable of love. The main female character is clearly under 18, and is forced into a romantic relationship by an older man who "wishes" for her to be his girlfriend forever. He even KISSES her, and she appears NAKED. That poor girl must be so confused.

:lmao: TOTALLY untrue.

Children think they are capable of love?!?!?! Excuse ME, but I'm sure we know what we feel.

The main female character is a GODDESS. Of course she appears under 18. *rolls eyes* She's probably really old. xD

"Older man? Forces?" Keitarou's a frickin' scaredy-cat. :lmao:

Kisses? Naked? Yeah, sure...Poor girl confused? I'm pretty sure it's she who was kissing him...? xD And either way, they love eachother. This lady obviously has no idea what she's talking about.

QUOTE (Lots'a Stupidity)
2) Love Hina: I'm not even going to mention the unspeakable, disgusting, pedophilic, pornograhpic events which transpire during this show, but suffice it to say, groups of young men on Love Hina-fueled rampages are raping children at a level unheard of since the 60s.

There's a thing called "ratings." ANIME IS NOT JUST FOR KIDS. WHEEEE!!! *rolls eyes* The majority is 13+, and in manga, there is also much older teen. Love Hina falls under that category. Dumb psychopath. xD

Nevi - July 22, 2006 08:20 PM (GMT)
Yeah, that's the lady I had heard of. She's very misinformed.
QUOTE
As a resonsible Christian, I demand to see this garbage removed from our nation.

She is the kind of person who gives Christians a bad name. I am a Christian, and I live in a Christian home and my father who is a MINISTER takes my Christian family to the Atlanta Anime convention (AWA) every year. That does not mean that we are, evil, perverts, crazy or hypocrites because we are Christian anime fans.
And I love Ah! My Goddess, and Keitarou is not an older man. He's probably only in his early twenties. And what makes her think she has a right to say an entire country is evil?

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - July 22, 2006 11:56 PM (GMT)
Ah! My Goddess? :lmao: Dude, does this woman look at the title? Belldandy's a Goddess and we're sure she's like CENTURIES older then Keiichi.

As for Love Hina...I seen the first volume. The anime only have the people in towels at most in the hot springs. And paedophiliac? Can't a girl like Shinobu have a crush on Keitarou? I mean, how many teenagers have crushes on Hollywood stars that's older then them? Unless it's okay if she's 18?

Gee, I guess that includes DNAngel where the main couple are 14 years old. She might as well be pissed off at Krad for being a bad, bad angel.

Oh yeah, I forgot to rant about that. People under the age of 18 are very much capable of love. Some people under the age of 18 love more pure and more true than most people over 18. It's just a rare thing. Take my cousin and his wife for instance. They met when they were in high school and they got married while they were still in high school. Now they are parents and they are VERY responsible people. So this woman shouldn't generalize. :ermm:

That is so very true!! XD :lmao: :lmao:

Anyways, What you guys are saying is true but I think the christain woman needed to watch Pokémon or something like that to get her to realize not all anime is about sex, blood, and violance....See thats the problem with the world they think anything around those topics should not even be looked at because they think it will do something towards the way your think about other things <_< .

Amathala - July 24, 2006 12:53 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't wish Pokemon on anyone...Christian or not LOL.

But Belldandy appearing naked??? When and where?! In both the series and the manga, Belldandy NEVER appeared naked when she first met K1 (Keiichi), and in the new series, it's the second season, and Bell and K1 haven't even kissed yet! Sure they hug in their akward way, and Bell finally kisses K1 on the cheek, but that's it! How retarded...

Tenshi_Aerith - July 24, 2006 03:03 PM (GMT)
LOL True Pokémon would be quite a horrible thing to case on a person ne?

I've seen a episode of Ah! My Goddess but it was episode 23 or something like that, I never really got into it but from all the things I've read and seen on it I totally doubt that she ever probly will appear naked...Now Steel Angel Kurumi...IS DEFINATELY A different story...

Bah, dont worry about it. He wont, and he cant really...

What it boils down to is the parents. You have to be a responsible parent and monitor what your children watch. If you're really curious, there's plenty of places to view summaries, pictures...rent movies to check it out first before buying it for your kids. Bush cant have any control over that, and for him to think that he can make a major import (EXPENSIVE import) illegal, quite a bit of retail cashflow is going to go right down the tubes.

He's too concerned about his war and his oil to worry about anime. Besides, if he were so worried about banning something, he should be banning the GTA games and other extremely violent and STUPID games like those.

Paladin's Heart - July 25, 2006 01:32 PM (GMT)
Well, if they make fun of how bad anime is... let's take a look at American Shows! (Not meant for me to be stereotypical)

1) Power Rangers - This is intended for kids, right? So basically, this show basically shows some teenage kids (who still go to school, mind you) who have the ability and ninja skills to defeat bad guys. I have a 3 year old cousin who watches this show everyday and now he is capible at harshly throwing books at me and doing roundhouse kicks more deadly than Chuck Norris.

2) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - As much as I like this show myself, this has the same impact as the Power Rangers so. For those poor souls who do NOT know this show, its a bunch of teenage mutant turtles with the usual Stereotypes like the Leader (Leonardo), the Nerd (Donatello), the shadow-y guy (Raphael) and the clumsy guy (Michael Angelo) who basically fight with Ninja Skills against crime. Again the violence in this game is quickly picked up by kids because there was this kid at school who started doing moves from Ninja Turtles (I could tell he's a Ninja turtles fan) and hitting random kids and running on walls.

3) WWE - Do you KNOW how many children watch this? This has everything; from Sexual Themes, to Very Bad Violence. Even if it's fake, there are still kids that have scarred minds thinking its all real. Women come out and while getting into the ring, show a little skin and get all sexual. (-cough-Melina-cough-) And Little Kids watch this stuff! Added, WWE is like a Man's soap Opera.

I think I've proven my point.

Kuki Prower - July 25, 2006 04:12 PM (GMT)
I think this woman fails to realise that in Japan, you have to be over the age of 16 for sex and anything related to be legal. Not the country's fault that it doesn't apply in America, there are hundreds of countries around the world where this is the same such as the UK.

Research before you post xD

UsagiMamoru - July 28, 2006 11:40 PM (GMT)
I am 18 years old, I have a boyfriend who teases me about being a fan and I have been an anime/manga fan since 1995. That was since I was 7 years old. In a lot of manga, 14 year olds have sex. 13 year olds have sex in some manga, too. Sex is good for any age in manga. I read a lot of manga that have sex scenes, and it's perfectly fine because the couples are in love. The sex scenes are drawn well and tasteful and romantic.

Actually, in America, you can't legally have sex until age 16. And you can't give your consent to have sex until age 17. I'm pretty sure that's how it works. I can't be sure. Maybe it varies state by state.

UsagiMamoru - July 29, 2006 04:53 PM (GMT)
In Japan, you can be any age to have sex. That is the age of marriage, rather than consent. In manga, many people underage have sex. I read lots of manga that have sex scenes. It's romance, romantic and tasteful sex scenes. I'm 18 years old and I read manga with sex scenes and many times some of the characters are underage. They are romantic sex scenes that are done tastefully, which is different from porn. My boyfriend doesn't get anime. I've been a fan of anime/manga since I was 7 years old. I've only known my boyfriend for a couple years. So, in comparision, I've been a fan a lot longer than I've known him. Sex scenes in manga that are romantic and done tastefully are sweet and part of the plot. I like romance manga a lot.

Please do. I'll be the second gunman on the grassy knoll. XD

Okay, so is it basically confirmed? This isn't true?

UsagiMamoru - September 26, 2006 11:11 PM (GMT)
Lots of manga series have nudity and sex. I like those series for the plot. Fushigi Yuugi and Ayashi no Ceres, two great manga series, have many sex scenes and a lot of nudity. I still love the series because of the romance and the plot. I like the sex scenes, they are romantic and I love the series. Yes, sometimes there is a little too much nudity that could be taken out, but I love the plot, I love the romance and I love the sex scenes. That's what matters.
