Title: The Phantom Of The Opera
Description: Impossible not to love
kyra_leonheart - December 26, 2004 06:23 PM (GMT)
I’ve seen the new movie starring Gerard Butler and I absolutely loved it (the movie cause I love Erik, The Phantom, for years since I first saw him). In my opinion this was the best phantom I have ever seen!! His voice, his presence (his good lookingand sensuality). And the soundtrack is amazing. What do you think? Does anybody else love him?
SweetJanie - December 26, 2004 11:07 PM (GMT)
I haven't seen it yet...and the way you describe it, looks like I'll really gotta see it!! But I feel so lazy... >_< *feels lazy*
kyra_leonheart - December 26, 2004 11:13 PM (GMT)
You really have to see it. I loved every little detail about it (well, almost, I hate Raoul go figure out why...).
Cloudsgirl - December 27, 2004 02:37 AM (GMT)
i'm dying to see it! the music and singing is so amazing...
Enima - December 27, 2004 02:44 AM (GMT)
I just watched it in the cinema two days ago and really enjoyed it, despite the fact my friend told me the original story and what happened after it .
I really enjoyed the music and was practically singing along (silently) with it in the cinema .I'm not sure who's my fav. character is but I know that I'm not really fond of the new managers of the opera in the story. Raoul wasn't that bad, though quite ignorant sometimes but hey, he's the 'hero'.
Overall, I'd recommend anyone who loves music to watch it :) .

I didn’t mean to say he was bad, I apologize if my words made you think that. He kind of is the best choice I can imagine for Raoul...What I meant is that, if it weren’t for him,
SPOILERS
My Erik would have been happy with Christine by his side. Sorry, I love Erik too much, ever have ever will :D That’s the only reason that I have to hate him. Let me tell you one thing, if I was Christine I would never trade (I think it’s said like this) Erik for Raoul. And Gerard is exactly my Erik, the way I imagined him. And he is so HOT, even with out the mask!!!
END OF SPOILERS
Anyway, I enjoyed the whole movie (and I have to admit I have seen it 4 times already). To those who haven’t seen it I just say to seat (I won’t tell you to relax cause it’s impossible with all those feelings that the actors so well make us notice) and pay attention to every little detail. Since the actors, to the set, the make up, wardrobe and...Of course...the music. They are able to touch me even after listening them for so many times (I have the soundtrack for some time). You can as well talk about other movies you love and hate. I’m a cinema freak so I’ll just chut up or I’ll continue writing (and lets say I’m not a very good writer specially in English) and you’ll beg me to stop or ban me.
I think you got the point.
Oh, I was forgetting, Enima, I sang the entire movie as well. I tried to do so silently, in my mind, but every time I saw Erik sing "The music of the night" I couldn’t weld myself and started to sing loud. Guess what, once I started to sing and other people joined me (course some tried to shut us up, but the power of that music did not aloud us to stop). So next time don’t be ashamed to sing!

No no no no, one should DEFINATLY see it on stage. It was the most amazing exprience I've EVER had. I cried, I laughed, I was TERRIFIED. It was simply amazing, and I'm sorry, but no movie can ever compare. I realize it's terribly expensive, and hard, but if you like it that much you MUST go see it live, the way it's intended. It's absolutely amazing
kyra_leonheart - December 27, 2004 02:15 PM (GMT)
I would love to see it on stage, there is only one problem: I live in Portugal. That means I can´t. But I promisse I won´t die with out see it (well, at least I´ll try :))
Annapest - January 4, 2005 02:18 PM (GMT)
I got to see it on Christmas Eve. ^_^ I really liked how all the ballerinas walked in complete turnout, though I have a feeling not all of them were dancers. Why did they wear pointe shoes but not go en pointe? Even when pirouetting? *ballet obsessed brain explodes*
Oh well. I liked the songs, but I felt some were a leeeetle too long and I didn't really like the random electric guitars playing at some parts.
(Kind of weird how Christine smiled a lot when she sang. o_o I can imagine my music teacher having several fits over that.) But I still loved it and I felt so sorry for poor Erik. ;_;
My entire family have seen it on stage apart from me () and they say it's very good.
Clorith - January 4, 2005 04:11 PM (GMT)
I saw it on stage, but that was when I was really young. Like 7, I think. So I don't really remember much... I really should go catch it before it's gone. Been watching other silly little shows. ^_^
Enima - January 4, 2005 05:41 PM (GMT)
I haven't seen it on stage yet, but will one day. Even my brother is quite eager to see it as last time during his class drama three years ago, he played Erik(his fav character).
His fav. song was 'music of the night' whereas mine were 'wishing you were somehow here again' and 'angel of music'. He even said that one day the both of of will sing 'the phantom of the opera' as a duet at my grandmother's b'day party (if there is one) this year, but so far hadn't had the opportunity to practice yet :P.
kyra_leonheart - January 4, 2005 07:45 PM (GMT)
I want to see it on stage too ;__;. My fav music was "Music of the night" too, followed by "Point of no return". *sigh*
Aerith_kun - January 23, 2005 07:30 PM (GMT)
Oooooh *_*... I have seen the film with my best friend first and with my mother second, and I enjoy it a lot both times ^^... i have been a fan of The Phantom of the Opera since I saw the play in the theatre (other 2 times ^^) and then I read the book... I LOVE Erik, too, and I can´t understand how Christine chosen Raoul ¬¬... Erik is hot, dark and mistery, and you have all the reason, without mask he´s hot, too... My mother was repeating all the time while she has seen the film that Erik was better and more handsome than Raoul... And my friend and I cried and laughed with this film. It´s simply wonderful *_*... The worst was the spanish voices (I´m from Spain)... they all were awful ¬¬... They only had a point when they singed ^^...
Oh, I forget, kyra_leonheart, have you read the book "The Phantom of Manhattan"?? It´s a sequel of the play, and it has a lot of surprises ^^
kyra_leonheart - January 23, 2005 08:54 PM (GMT)
You´ve read it? can´t believe it! I´ve been looking for it for so long!!!! That and Kay´s Phantom. You´re from Spain? I´m portuguese, and the first time I saw the movie was in Spanish. It wasn´t so good as the original, but it wasn´t that bad. You´re so luky for having seen it on stage!! The first time I met Erik was in the Cartoon adaptation when I was about 6 or so. Promise me one thing? Next time the Phantom is on stage near the border can you tell me so I can see it? Please! Thanks. BTW, what´s your fav music from POTO?
Aerith_kun - January 24, 2005 03:28 PM (GMT)
But don´t you have the book?? O.O... Wops, sorry if I spoiler you something ^^UU (no, I think not ^^U)... I found it in a library of my village on summer... But it cost ¬¬... Mmm, I was thinking... can you speak spanish?? Because if you can, and if you don´t find this book, I could send you the book in parts, if you want...
I knew Erik for my best friend, at first I didn´t know anything of the Phantom... But my friend saw the play and she convinced me to see it ^^. It isn´t in Spain anymore TT___TT... But I think the producers are going to put a perpetual play in a stage of the Vegas... Maybe in a future it will return to Spain ^^... Then I will tell you ;)
My favourite song is "The Music of the Night", I love it and Erik´s voice *_*... "Point of no return" is well, too, but in the film with THIS Phantom it´s better ^^U
kyra_leonheart - January 24, 2005 08:21 PM (GMT)
I do speak Spanish. You have no idea of the movies I’ve seen in Spanish! When I lived with my parents I used to see TVE a lot ^_^. I would appreciate if you could sent me the book *blushes* my e-mail is in my profile. Thanks a lot!
*cries because she no longer can see the play in Spain*
BTW, were do you live?
Have you read the original book? From Leroux? I have it in English if you want I can send it to you by e-mail.
Aerith_kun - January 25, 2005 02:51 PM (GMT)
Wow, do you live in Spain?? And did you see TVE?? :o ^__^.... Haha, the world is so small...
Ok, I will scan the book pages and I will send them to you ;)
Another thing, I asked my friend if the plays would return to Spain, and she said that she thinks it would be in Barcelona, so I will tell you if it will confirm ^^
Oh, I have the original book of Leroux in spanish... I bought it thanks to a promotional paper of a newspaper ^^UU... Although I like more the play and the film, in the book Erik is like a monster and people treat him like one ¬¬...
One question, have you seen another movies or series of POTO??? O.O...
I think I will can send you it tomorrow ^^
kyra_leonheart - January 25, 2005 06:25 PM (GMT)
I live in Portugal (well I used too, now I only go there sometimes to see my parents and my small sis), near the border in a place called Sabugal, near Guarda. There I used to see TVE. The last movie I saw in it was "The Others", with Nicole Kidman ^_^
Thanks for doing that!
Oh, please do tell me if it’s going to be in Barcelona, I have to see it!
I only saw the new movie and the cartoon one. And I read the original book but that’s it, Portugal is a disgrace....
Once again thanks ^_^
kyra_leonheart - January 25, 2005 07:08 PM (GMT)
First POTO didn´t won any of the Golden Globs for which it was nominated, now it only has been nominated for 3 Oscars? Come on, what´s with this guys? Don´t they have eyes and hears?
lenne - January 26, 2005 01:17 AM (GMT)

If you're talking about the book "The Phantom of Manhattan", My friend has that book in English and my brother is currently reading it. If you haven't read it and wish to read it, I could ask if she could lend it to you, but *sighs sadly* I'm all the way in Malaysia :(.
How to send it to you? Unless I send it Airmail but I don't think my friend will like that .
Oh yeah, the Phantom of the Opera cartoon, is it the one where Raoul had a Persian man with him to help find Christine? if it is, I too have that cartoon ;) :) :D  . I still watch it every now and then :D .
kyra_leonheart - January 29, 2005 06:19 PM (GMT)
Yes, it´s that cartoon
Thanks for wanting to lend me the book, but Aerith_kun already will send it to me by e-mail (thanks again Aerith_kun!!) That way I can read it on the computer ^_^
Do you like the Phantom of the Opera?
Aerith_kun - January 29, 2005 06:48 PM (GMT)
You´re welcome, kyra_leonheart ;) ...
I´m scanning it to my computer... Then I´ll send you... Perhaps it will take a little time, sorry then U.U...
But it isn´t any problem ;)
kyra_leonheart - January 29, 2005 07:01 PM (GMT)
I’ll wait
Thanks again Aerith_kun
*blushes*
Meanwhile I’m reading "The Three Musketeers"

Yeah, I enjoy it, especially the music :D , but there are so many versions and my friend sort of spilled out a little detail about the contents of 'The Phantom of Manhattan' which made me a little uncomfortable. I won't tell you what she told me as I don't want to spoil for you :).
I've been meaning to ask, how many versions of the 'Phantom of the Opera' have you come across? From what I saw on the net and what I've seen around in the shops, there are quite a number of versions. Have you seen them all?
kyra_leonheart - January 31, 2005 12:43 PM (GMT)
I would like to see them all!!! But unfortunaty I´ve only seen the 2004 version and the cartoon one *cries* I´ve also read the original book...
Oh, please spoil me!!! Tell me everything!!!
Aerith_kun - January 31, 2005 12:56 PM (GMT)
Of the movies, I have seen the first, one without voice (I don´t like it very much, Erik was a monstruosity ¬¬...) and another one with a Phantom older than the others... It isn´t convince me ^^UU... But there is one that people say it´s very good and I haven´t seen TT____TT... The title is "The Phantom of Paradise", and it was directed by Bryan de Palma... I find another, but I haven´t seen it yet ¬¬...
Mmm, kyra_leonheart, do you really want spoilers??? Hehe, some of them are really   ...
kyra_leonheart - January 31, 2005 01:02 PM (GMT)
Spoil me!!! I want so much to know about Erik!!! ^_^
I wish I could have seen all the movies..............
Aerith_kun - January 31, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
kyra_leonheart, I will spoil you... You´re advised ^^
SPOILERS: The Phantom of Manhattan................................
This book is written for Frederick Forsyth and it´s a sequel of the play, not of the original book, so characters like the Persian isn´t in this book...
The story beggins with Madame Guiry dying, and she tells how she met Erik and "adopted" him. Then she send a leeter to Erik where she tells him the true of an important secret...
While, Erik is escaping from his "captors" (or people who want to capture him...) and he moves to Manhattan, where he knows a "crazy" boy, who is escaping for the authorities, too...
Well, when the story is in the middle, Madame Guiry´s letter is read for Erik, and it says (kyra_leonheart, here comes an important secret...) that Erik has a son...
How is posible?? O.o... It sounds crazy, hum ^^UU.... Well, if you want to know more, kyra_leonheart, only tell me, but I don´t want to tell you the complete book ^^UU
kyra_leonheart - January 31, 2005 06:52 PM (GMT)
*faints*
Please tell the rest!!!!! A son?! I almost died when I read that.....please spoil me!!!!!
Aerith_kun - February 6, 2005 04:51 PM (GMT)

Hey kyra_leonheart,
I just found a version of 'The Phantom Of The Opera' in my grandmother's house,
It's quite different from the latest movie which just came out. It's old but not as old as the black and white one. At the same same it is rather freaky and goury.
I have the DVD of this particular one (it was meant to be of the one which was showing in the cinema but the shopkeeper sort of cheated us<_<. Even so we kept it anyway), but it's with a friend right now. When I get it back, I'll try my best to send it to you (unless my friend decides to keep it) .
Will update you soon about it. :)
kyra_leonheart - February 9, 2005 06:59 PM (GMT)
Thank you Enima, you´re soo sweet!!!!
*hugs Enima*
I don´t know Aerith_kun. I think 5 MB...It´s ok if you can´t do it, don´t worry. At least you tried.
*hugs Aerith_kun too*
Enima - February 15, 2005 09:49 AM (GMT)
Ok, my friend just gave me back the dvd and hopefully my PC can access the internet now.
My pc was spoiled for about three weeks and I just got a friend to fix it. He just gave it back just now and I'll have to hope that it will work now. (All this while I've either been using the PCs in the university labs, my house Pc or my friend's)
As soon as the pc's online again I'll send over the file or I'll put it on my blog and post the link to here. :D :)
kyra_leonheart - February 15, 2005 12:44 PM (GMT)
Thanks Enima, I really apreciate it!!!!
You´ll see you´ll have you pc online in no time.
