My pc's been acting up and i've been getting a bunch of warnings about it being infected,I don't have virus protection or spyware protection and I don't want to buy some right now.Can anyone give me some advice on how to get rid of the spyware and virusus or any programs which can help?

download virus protection from the internet. there was some thing that i downloaded from the internet that worked fine, just google search for virus protector, and make sure to not download anything that says spyware addware and you should be alright.

Google ad-aware, if that doesn't work then wow. It should definetly work, if not resort to spy bot search and destroy. If that doesn't work...post here again.

I already have spybot but it says I have to update it.

Well then if it doesn't cost you money then upgrade it that seems like the logical thing to do

It's okay I found something to fix it.

I see that you already have it under control, however here are some suggestions.

Ad Aware coupled with Spy-Bot can get rid of almost all spyware, hijacks, and other types of infections you get from browsing the internet.

Using Firefox Browser will severly cut down the ammount infections you get. IE allows it, and will run things when it reads the code in the html. Granted there are time where it asks to install something, most of the time it does it on it's own in the background w/o you ever knoing it. Firefox will not do any of that, cept the prompts that asks if you wish to install some 3rd party software just to view a website. Also you get some really helpful "extensions" to add to the browser, all fre, and 100% supported. Stuff like Ad Block, which will block banner ads, iframe ads, flash ads. You name it. It blockes them so you never have to see them ever again.

Finally, www.antivirus.com it's always a good idea to go there once a month and use thier free anti-virus and spyware scans. Just incase Ad-Aware and Spy-Bot missed something.

oh yeah, almost forgot, close all the ports on your PC, cept the ones you really, really need.

Okay, since this has been sorted, I'll close it, but just for future reference, there's already a thread on this topic here.
