Title: The Truth Behind Pure Heart
Description: does it mean anything?

LadyNelZelpher - June 11, 2006 05:01 PM (GMT)
I've been thinking about this.
Why would they make a song for a game using a very well known song from another game?
My thoughts are that it shows how much Cloud and Aerith's and Tidus and Yuna's stories are alike. :D
The both lost the person they love and are waiting to see them again.
Besides, it means, to me, that both Yuna and Aerith have pure hearts :P (my 2 favorite FF girls).
What do you think? Isn't it Clerith?

FF_Goddess - June 11, 2006 06:33 PM (GMT)
I agree with you, LNZ. I think it shows how ClAeris and Tiduna are alike in so many ways. Plus, Yuna and Aerith are very similiar. I thought that the addition of "Pure Heart" on the FFX OST was just one more reason why ClAeris is the intended couple of FFVII. ^_^

Wingless - June 12, 2006 06:25 AM (GMT)
I don't know if I would say that "Pure Heart" is a reflection of Clerith or TiYu so much as a reflection of Aerith and Yuna themselves. The lyrics are about a girl finding her strength to move on down the path that she has to walk, and both Aerith and Yuna are women who must walk a difficult road by their own choices. Aerith could have not stopped Sephiroth, and Yuna could have not tried to become a summoner, but they both chose the hard road. So I think "Pure Heart" is meant more to reflect their determined mindsets. To use Aerith's theme is to remind the Final Fantasy X audience that Yuna is as courageous as Final Fantasy VII's Aerith.

So to me, "Pure Heart" is a sign that Aerith is indeed the main heroine of Final Fantasy VII, much like Yuna is the main heroine of Final Fantasy X. So, in an oblique way, I guess that does show that "Pure Heart" is both Clerith and TiYu, lol. ^_^ And Aerith's and Yuna's stories are alike--it's just that who gets separated from who changes a bit. But they're both, to me, the strongest heroines of Final Fantasy (excepting Ashe, whom I'm reserving my judgment on until I play Final Fantasy XII), and both are well worthy of the "Pure Heart" song. ^_^ There's definitely a connection there.

Anti-R - June 12, 2006 08:39 AM (GMT)
It's a song about a journey and finding more about herself.

And yes, it can be reflected on both Yuna and Aerith's roles in the game.

Just happy they thought Aerith's theme is good enough to be sung. Never really occured to me.

Kuki Prower - June 12, 2006 08:39 AM (GMT)
There was a poll in Japan that was asking FF fans which song they would most like to hear as a vocalisation and Aerith's Theme won.

The OST? Wasn't it just on the Suteki da Ne single?

But Aerith is very much like Yuna and the song in a way reflects both of them.

Anti-R - June 12, 2006 08:48 AM (GMT)
The FFX OST has a bonus track called "Pure Heart" (Aerith's theme) sung by the person who also sang X's main theme "Suteki da Ne".

Daga15 - June 27, 2006 12:56 PM (GMT)
In Japan they asked people which song of ff would they like to be singed and aerith theme was the winner, that is why they make a new version , pure heart. I think it has nothing to do with yuna, the song is an aeris song, it the winner was tifas theme for example, then the song would have be about itfa..

Clerith-son - June 27, 2006 09:02 PM (GMT)
Maybe it was just a bonus, you know? I've always thought that Aerith was a more independant character than Yuna.

Yuna, at first, relied too much on Tidus; her own strength wasn't shown until later in the game, and in X-2. Aerith, in the other hand, was always shown as an independant character; she never had to rely on anyone to show how strong (physically and psychologically) she was.

Still, "Pure Heart" was a nice addition from SE.

Alantie - July 13, 2006 07:46 PM (GMT)
I thought it was a nice bonus taking a look at Aerith's character, though the lyrics are very :cleris: if you raed them and think about it. I'm glad they chose to make Pure Heart because I always wondered what Aerith's Theme would sound like with words.

How many versions of Aerith's Theme are there anyway? I have 3. The one from the game, Pure Heart, and Aerith's Theme from AC. That's all of em, right?

Kaldea - July 13, 2006 08:05 PM (GMT)
There are many more versions of Aeris's Theme than 3. ^_^ There's the FFVII OST version, piano version, orchestrated version, Pure Heart, etc.

And yes, Pure Heart came to be from a contest in Japan where they asked people what their favorite FF song was. The winner would recieve lyrics. Aeris's Theme won that contest.

Alantie - July 13, 2006 08:27 PM (GMT)
Mwah! There's more?! :fangirl: Now if only I could find a place to get the ones I'm missing  I simply love Aerith's Theme. I must hear all the versions! Though from the 3 I've heard so far, I would have to say AC is my favorite. ^_^ Does anyone have all the versions posted on filefont or rapidshare or soemthing?

Gee, I wish I could have been in that contest! I would have voted for Aerith's theme all the way! *listens to Pure Heart again* I can really imagine Aerith singing this. . .

Edit: Okay, now I'm uncertain. . . I think I have the orchestrated version and not the original. . .grr. . . must get all the versions! ^_^ Help anyone?

Azerty - July 14, 2006 09:10 PM (GMT)
I didn't notice that until you posted this topic. Thanks for posting this up. I didn't know that their stories are similar. How interesting. Is Square running out of ideas?

Kuki Prower - July 15, 2006 08:49 AM (GMT)
The versions of Aerith's Theme are as follows:

1. Original MIDI (From FFVII Game)
2. Piano Version (From FFVII Piano Collections Album)
3. Orchestral Version (From FFVII Reunion Tracks Album, there is also another version of this performed lived from a concert in Japan that is in the Final Fantasy 20020220 Album)
4. Pure Heart (The vocalisation performed by Rikku)
5. Music Box Version (The theme played by the limited edition "Aerith's Theme" music box)

Alantie - July 16, 2006 02:20 AM (GMT)
Thanks Sonikku! :huggle:

So then I need Music Box Version, Piano Version, Original MIDI, and both versions of Orchestral Version. *sigh* Anyone have them up? Or willing to email them to me?

Wait, Pure Heart was preformed by Rikku? Meaning the Rikku in FFX? Or a different Rikku?

pinaycutie - July 16, 2006 07:56 AM (GMT)
^ It's Rikki, she sang "Suteki Da Ne" for FFX.

Alantie - July 18, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
Oh, thanks for clearing that up! :huggle:

Can anyone please send me those Aerith Theme versions that I'm missing please? Email them to me or something? I'll give you a BIG cookie!

Lady_Aerith - July 18, 2006 02:20 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't so much compare "Pure Heart" to Yuna as Aerith. The song is sung to the beat/melody of Aerith's theme and it automatically reminded me of her. Although I can see the good reasoning for Yuna as she is similar to Aerith when she is portrayed in FFX, however nowhere near as innocent and likeable.

Well, I think that is more your opinion on the matter than fact. I found Yuna every bit as innocent and likable as Aerith.

Alantie - July 18, 2006 07:16 PM (GMT)
I agree FF_Goddess. Yuna has that same innocence about her that Aerith does. Not that they are naive and don't understand things about the world, they just are, well, pure, untainted by the horribleness of the things that surround them. Yuna is just more quieter and withdrawn while Aerith speaks more and is usually fairly open about how she feels. I too rather like Yuna ^_^

I hate to keep asking, but anyone want to send me those versions of Aerith's Theme? I would be eternally gratefull

Sternenstaub - July 18, 2006 08:36 PM (GMT)
Alantie, I'm going to upload all five versions as a zip file (just so that it is a more or less complete match). I was searching for the concert version of Aeris -orchester- theme but it sounded entirely the same as the normal orchester version from reunion tracks. If another version exists I also ask someone to upload it somewhere. Can't get enough of Aeris, can we?

The file titled "Aerisnew" is the orchester version and the katakana titled song is the piano version. The music box file was done from someone in ACF.

:huggle: Thank you so much Sternenstaub!!! :huggle: I'm going to go download it right now! I just hope it doesn't take too long since I'm on evil dial up!

*spits soda all over the screen* Wahhh!!! Its going to take 5 hrs and 56 minutes?! I don't know if I can be online for that long. . . *weeps* I know this is a huge pain and I hate to ask. . . but could you send them to me one at a time in an email? my adress is alantie_mistaniu_fallen_angel@hotmail.com. . . but if that's too much of a bother, don't worry about it

Ke-Ke - July 29, 2006 08:38 PM (GMT)
Can someone please send me an MP3 of Pure Heart? I can't seem to find it.
