She's The Man is pretty cute! I just love Amanda Bynes!
MistaCloudStrife - June 5, 2006 01:45 PM (GMT)
I don't know exactly what makes up a "chick flick"... But I really liked How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days... Good stuff.

I absolutely loved Legally Blonde, especially how Elle figured out who the real culprit was in the end! Has anyone seen Love Actually? I thought it was fantastic.
Another favourite of mine is Cruel Intentions. Such a sexy, mean film. Reese was adorable, Ryan was teh sex, and Sarah Michelle Gellar was brilliant as Kathryn. I loved her clothes too. She was so vindictive, but I really enjoyed her character. I think it might have been because I was used to seeing her as Buffy, fighting against evil, and Kathryn is such a contrast to that.
Oh, and Bridget Jones. The book is better, but the film isn't half bad. ^_^

Cruel Intentions in my favorite movie of all time. I could tell you every single line in that movie!
Another good one for me was The Notebook. That was such a cute/sad movie!

How to Lose a guy in 10 Days is excellent. I love the plot, characters, everything. "Nobody likes Mr. Sniffles"! :lmao:
Legally Blonde I watched again only a few days ago. Reese Witherspoon was so great. She really does Elle really well. No pun (rhyme) intended. :P
I've heard of Cruel Intentions. I was tempted to buy it, but thewn I saw a trailer for it, and I didn't really want to watch it. I dunno. :dunno:
Love Actually, is a classic Brirish Romantic Comedy. I loved how all the stories connected! It was so sweet! My favourite couple in that was prolly Hugh Grant and Martine McCutcheon. The Prime Minister and the Tea Lady! :lmao:
I also have Mean Girls. It's ok, but I loathe Lindsay Lohan. I dunno, but she gives me the heebie jeebies. There's just something about her that I do not like. *shrugs* One of those things. I actually like Regina in Mean Girls. I love her attitude, and to be honest, she's prettier than Lindsay.
Two Weeks Notice was sweet too. Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock. Very sweet and moving. ^_^
yin-chan - June 5, 2006 05:20 PM (GMT)
I loved Legally Blonde too!! :D Can't understand why people say it's such a crap film. Reese Witherspoon played the part to perfection!
I also like The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, I really like how they played out the various ongoings in the lives of the four friends, especially the girl in Greece. That made me squee so much.
Love Actually is a top favourite as well, and .... Notting Hill is a classic. Hugh Grant in all his arkward glory!!! <3

I feel so anti-girly when I say this, but I hate 99% of chick flicks. Of the millions I've seen, I can think of three that I liked. Legally Blonde (second one blew though), Miss Congeniality (same applies), and 13 Going On 30 was cute, I'll admit that.
As for Mean Girls... it had its funny moments. It all pretty much fell apart in the end once Regina got hit by a bus and Cady made that horrible speech and broke her crown. I sort of can't stand Mean Girls though because Lindsay Lohan is, I'm sorry to any of her fans, a self-obsessed bitch. I know, I know. Everyone must be thinking that I don't know her enough to say that. But she went to my high school (if you don't believe me about her going to my school, if you read the issue of Seventeen with her on the cover, it names the town I live in as her hometown), and she is nothing short of bitchy. She cuts people on the lunch line, and then tells them to f*ck off when they tell her not to cut (I think she told my brother to f*ck off like four times in one week once). In fact, everyone at my school hates her sooo much except her brother, Mike Lohan, who's graduating this year. When I was a freshmen, she was a senior. She pretty much got away with never, ever coming to school and still graduated cause she's famous. When she tried to go to prom, the entire senior class of that year flipped out and started a petition against it. I think she ended up going anyway. I'm kind of going out on a tangent here... anyway, I can't stand watching her movies because I just dislike her so much.
But as for She's The Man, yeah, it was funny. I don't know if I liked it, but it was funny. Shakespeare knew what he was doing, didn't he? Which reminds me, 10 Things I Hate About You=teh best teen comedy.

Like THEE LINDSEY LOHANN? :woot: :woot: OMG, your serious? OMG, i hate her guts, but WOW! THATS SOOO COOL! :o :o :o OMG!
Sadhana - June 6, 2006 01:05 AM (GMT)
Yes, teh Lindsay Lohan in the flesh. No one likes her at my school. She shows up every once and a while to pick up her brother, I think. At least that's why she was around last time.
Kusari Yarou - June 6, 2006 08:21 AM (GMT)
I dislike Lindsay Lohan the person too, but I think she's a good actress. I loved Mean Girls. I agree with you ER, Regina(Rachel McAdams) was fantastic! Very pretty and not just a stereotypical popular girl.
Freaky Friday is one of my favorites because Jamie Lee Curtis had me in stitches the whole time

I highly recommend it, it's one of my fave movies Okay, there's a lot of seduction and profanity but in the end, it's more of a love story than anything else. It's not pointless sex like in other teen films, in many ways, it's actually a very clever film.
I wouldn't exactly classify Love Actually as a "chick flick". My sisters and my brothers all loved it.
The Princess Diaries. The first one was witty and adorable, but I thought the second one was a disgrace to the first film and the books
Ever After! The film was wonderful, Drew Barrymore was wonderful in it, and she and Dougray Scott portrayed one of my favorite movie couples ever!
And my guilty pleasure chick flick(it got horrible reviews and could be classified as "shallow") is Coyote Ugly :P
Bloodbath - June 6, 2006 09:16 AM (GMT)
Two Weeks Notice, How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, Miss Congeniality, and Bridget Jones' Diary are probably the only chick flicks I like genuinely. :P The rest I'd usually watch when there is nothing else to watch.
Oh! I haven't seen Love Actually, but I'm interested in watching it seeing as how a lot of you like it. ^_^

It's awesome. It's about a group of people who are interconnected in ways they don't know(they're neighbors, they sit next together at church, they've passed each other on the street) and how they all experience different kinds of love during the Christmas season. Not just romantic love, there's also lust, unrequited love, boyish crushes, brotherly love, etc. :)
Anti-R - June 6, 2006 05:08 PM (GMT)
Clueless. Yes it's so old, but this is the "modern" version of Jane Austen's Emma as of late, so yay!
Legally Blonde. Love that film to death. Cannot say the same to the sequel though.
Miss Congeniality. Ditto.
Ella Enchanted is nice. Reminds me a bit of Princess Bride.
The Wedding Singer. I love that "I wanna grow old with you" song. Awesome, that.
50 First Dates. I really cried when Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler's characters broke up because of her problem (she even burned her diaries), but that didn't stop the guy from getting her back and start their own family. This is my definition of a true love. I always believed in it.
Ally McBeal - June 6, 2006 06:12 PM (GMT)
mean girls!!!! regina george is my idol  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
karen smith is also cute :fangirl:
another movie i like is legally blonde ..reese witherson. plays an adorable blondie *-*
Lutearina - June 6, 2006 06:22 PM (GMT)
Meh, I don't really like most chick flicks either. I'm more of a...well....I dunno. XD
Having Lindsay Lohan at your school MUSTA sucked. -_____-
I liked the FIRST Princess Diaries. Second one gave me a heart attack. It was funny, cause in one of the recent books it said something like "The newest movie about my life had me break up with Michael. What is that!?!" etc. I do not recall the quote, but something like that. XP

Hahaha! You're kidding! I love it when Meg Cabot drops hints in her books like that. It's funny because when I was watching that terrible sequel, I was thinking, "The 'real' Mia would go ballistic if she knew about this!"
Marionette - June 9, 2006 03:27 AM (GMT)
Yay, for Cruel Intentions! Another movie I love is Vanilla Sky! Although, I'm not sure if it's considered a "chick flick" speaking of which what IS a "chick flick" anything that deals with love? XD
Anyway, I also noticed I like quite a few Meg Ryan movies. You Got Mail, City Of Angels, Sleepless in Seattle.
I recently saw The New World (Yeah, the Pocahontas movie XD) and during the loves scenes my dad would groan in annoyance and say "not this again" XD but, I quite enjoyed the lovey-dovey scenes, they were beautifully shot.
Luna-Nayru - June 9, 2006 05:23 AM (GMT)
Although I'm really not a Lindsey Lohan person, Mean Girls did really crack me up because it's so dementedly realistic. Seriously, every time I see that movie I crack up at the characters, because they remind me so much of specific people I know (I can name about ten different girls I know who remind me of Regina, Gretchen, and Karen). I didn't like the corny parts as much, but the sharp sense of humor was great. :D
Others... I really love Legally Blonde. It's just too funny and the plot keeps you interested, which says a lot for a chick flick. Reese nails the part of Elle so awesomely.
pink_ribbon07 - July 8, 2006 03:31 PM (GMT)
I luv the movie.....
Legally Blonde- i luv Reese Witherspoon and she is really good in Walk The Line!
That is one of my fav. movies but its not chicky flick!! :D :D
I also like Lagally Blonde 2 but Legally blonde 1 is better....Thats my opinion i guess though!! :D :D
mallorn - July 23, 2006 09:05 AM (GMT)
My all-time chick flick guilty pleasure movie is Ten Things I Hate About You with Julia Stiles. I love that movie, especially the part where he serenades her in the stands while guards are chasing after him. :D
Resha - July 23, 2006 11:11 AM (GMT)
City of Angels, The Lakehouse XD, Serendipity, The Notebook, What a Girl Wants and A Walk To Remember!!!! :cray:
A Walk To Remember really reminds me of Cloud and Aerith... the song even suits them, the personalities suit them too!!!
Amathala - July 23, 2006 11:56 AM (GMT)
Chick flicks eh? Hmmm...
The Wedding Date: Debra Messing and Dermont Mulroney...XD great fun. If you guys ever get to check it out, it's worth watching it...it's set in England, so you know there has to be a lot of humor.
Two Weeks Notice and Miss Congenality: I LOVE Sandra! I have so many movies of hers! XD "You think I'm gorgeous, you wanna daaaate me, you want to huuuug me..."
Save the Last Dance: OMG so touching!
Ever After: This is like the ULTIMATE fairy tale recreation, I tell you...none of that mumbo jumbo like Disney (though Cinderella was sweet originally). This version is SO much better
And yes...OMG...50 First Dates and 10 Things I Hate About You is so awesome! I own them both as well. I'm into mostly romantic comedy as you can see. Gotta have the funny bits.
aerisbolt - July 24, 2006 03:52 PM (GMT)
Okay wow, let's see if I can narrow it down to a few  I'll try to keep it reasonable.
For me first I must name some of my ultimates:
The Princess Bride it is just fabulous I really recommend this to those who haven't seen it (And thanks to whoever mentioned it earlier).
Clueless is another one of my ultimate favorites as well (Yay Anti-R!).
Legally Blonde( I love Reese with a passion, very talented lady).
Bridget Jones Diary( let's just say I name my car after her..i know I am a big dork)
Pride and Prejudice (the A&E version is jsut phenomenal! But warning it is a miniseries so it is long)
Okay others that I have deep effection for our Love Actually...I do not get tired of this movie, a lot of wonderful actors/actress in it.
I am a huge Sandra Bullock fan as well and I like many of the ones already mentioned but for me my favorite is While You Were Sleeping. I just thought is was a lot of fun.
Save the Last Dance, Julia Stiles is an amazing actress and this movie has a lot to say.
Ever After is another movie that is just a fabulous movie, I love how Drew's character is not the helpless damsel in distress(not that I am always against that, i believe the idea of being rescued is very romantic..but I digress).
Sleepless in Seattle, I can't explain why without going into detail but the ending for me is just one of my favorites of all time, I found it very beautiful.
On a side note I love Cruel Intentions and I guess it is a chick flick but I never think about it in this category, but SMG is absolutely amazing in this film(then again being a Buffy fan i am just slightly biased :P )
Whew that is enough and sadly I know I probably forgot one that I really love.

Forgot about that!!! That was very inspirational, even though with hilarious yet ugly scenes for the children...of course...me not a child no more!!! ^_^ I don't know if you even call it a chick flick movie, but any of you guys watched the White Chicks?
Onigiri - July 26, 2006 04:11 AM (GMT)
I loove "chick flics", however, that would make a lot of my friends very suprised if I mentioned it. All the suggestions are awesome. I've been bored recently.
Mean Girls, I really liked it! Though, I hated the ending, especially the speech. I don't know why, but I hate those kinds of things in Movies. I also don't like Lindsay Lohan either, but for no reason. I just don't like her voice. :P I could believe that she'd be bitchy though.
LeaveOnYourBrightLights - July 31, 2006 03:15 AM (GMT)
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was really really good. :)
I agree, I loved Mean Girls, too x3
slowerthanaverage - August 1, 2006 02:37 AM (GMT)
Like most of you, I enjoyed Mean Girls...
Regina: You're so pretty
Cady: Thanks...
Regina: So you really think you're pretty?
ROFL.. mint =p Yeah Rachel McAdams is gorgeous. The rest of the girls are a little bit too tarty, but then it's their role to be anyway :P
Another one I enjoyed is Bring it on... I don't really like Kirsten Dunst very much but I had fun watching their cheerleading moves ^^
50 first dates is amazing too... It's so hilarious and touching at the same time *sigh*

I loved this movie too! I hate Adam Sandler's acting, but for some reason, I like him when he's Drew Barrymore.
Which brings me to...The Wedding Singer! The scene where Robbie sings to Julia on the plane and all the passengers help him is so schweet :huggle:

:lmao: Chick flick or not, everybody should watch this movie.
We watched it on the big screen and were practically snorting popcorn and soda out of our noses
I'll never look at 'A Thousand Miles' the same way again. That big guy, Latrell, kills me!
I thought Simply Irresistible was cute. Very fun and creative take on the 'magic' that is love.
TidusBlankety - August 1, 2006 03:39 AM (GMT)
the note book, i love that movie!...i still cry at least once every time i see it...
Alchemist - August 2, 2006 03:10 AM (GMT)
Whilst this movie genre isn't in my field of interest (maybe because it's due to the fact that I'm, oh I don't know, a GUY!) I will however mention that i enjoyed The Wedding Singer and Ten things I hate about you
Ke-Ke - August 2, 2006 07:49 PM (GMT)
I love 50 First Dates. It was an awesome movie, hilarious and touching all at once. Not many romantic comedies can pull that off so well. :)
