Title: Ffxii English Trailer
Description: Appeared on X-Play

Real_Emotion - May 25, 2006 03:44 AM (GMT)
I was busy on the computer when my brother ran into the room and pretty much dragged me out to view something on TV. And, I'm glad he did.

Today on X-Play, they showed the a trailer of FFXII... in english. :woot: In the trailer, it showed all the major characters with their English VAs. Here is a low-res version of the trailer, found on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgbYLYqyzLU

Be mindful the audio isn't that great, but you can still make out the voices.
Also, BRITISH-LIKE ACCENTS!! :fangirl: Ashe sounds like real royalty. Heh, that holier-than-thou kinda voice, but I don't mind. I was expecting her to sound dignified anyways. Vaan's voice reminds me of Tidus, sorta. :ermm: And Fran... Her Japenese VA was way better. She sounds like one of those Disney-like fairytail witches...

I'm trying to find a high-res quality trailer on the G4 site, but no luck so far. If anyone finds it, I will love you forever.

OMG!OMG!OMG!!! *spazzes*

Thanks for the link!

Ashe does sounds snotty isn't she? Oh well, I love her all the same.

Yaaay! *claps* Nice find Real Emotion. I couldn't but giggle at how Darth Vader-esque the judge sounded. Now I won't just have to guess through it like I did w/ my japanese version of the game! ^^ Again thanks!

Kuki Prower - May 25, 2006 11:03 AM (GMT)
They sound pretty good so far! I've never heard the Japanese VAs before, but the voices seem to fit the characters ^_^ Yeah Vaan's VA does kinda remind me of Tidus'.

I am dying to hear Fran's Japanese VA! Her seiyuu did Minako Aino/Sailor Venus from Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon and I love her!

But AH!!! This makes me want XII more and its gonna be a long time before it hits Europe's shores.

FF_Goddess - May 25, 2006 04:34 PM (GMT)
Do we have a list of English VAs yet?

Lynn - May 25, 2006 05:03 PM (GMT)
:hyper: Thanks for the link, RE! :hyper:

Couldn't hear too well since the sound felt very blurry to me, but what I did manage to hear, I rather liked. Especially Ashe's authoratative voice-- thank goodness they didn't give her some typical teenage girl's voice. Ashe is a princess, not some high school student wearing a crown.

I've never heard Fran's Japanese seiyuu, but I had quite a 'WTF?' moment at her English voice. I was expecting something deep, commanding, restrained... but got some nasally, scratchy, witch-like voice instead?

I love how they did the Judge voices, the cast has great VA's, but i'm not liking penelo's voice too much, but it's not a problem, I wanna hurry up and play it

You should, she does awesome. Most videos with Fran seem to be spoiler ones, but you can hear her a little in these (which aren't really that big a spoiler, from early on in the game):

English Fran sounds younger than Japanese Fran.

My reactions to the dub:

Ashe - A little rough here and there, but when she delivered the slap - win.

Vaan - So-and-so. Not bad, but not outstanding either.

Fran - Just...

Penelo - I don't know, it's just... I think minor characters did better than her!

Speaking of minor characters, I definitely got the Drakengard 2 feel when I heard the British accents. Now, I LOVE the dub in that game, so FFXII won't be so bad...

Ooh, I'm liking the voices! Except Fran's. <_< Vaan sounds exactly the way I expected him to sound, and Ashe's voice is good too. Didn't it sound like FF9 when Ashe asked the sky pirates to "steal" her?

goddess_in_pink07 - June 2, 2006 05:17 PM (GMT)
oooo!! That looks soo cool! Ashe sounds great! She does sound a little like Yuna..... but, damn she sounds like she means business. :D :D
LOL, it all looks great. Definately looks like worth buying and playing.... :D

You're welcome, everyone. ^_^

Well, not the complete list. There are only three confirmed voice actors that are known so far.

QUOTE
Bobby Edner - Vaan
Most images of this actor appear to give the impression that he is about 11-12 years old but is in-fact 17/18 years. Bobby will be doing the voice work for Vaan. Bobby's other work is 'Spy Kids 3-D' and a forthcoming production 'Welcome to paradise'. As Quoted from the site ''he recently completed voicing the lead role of Vaan in the upcoming English-language version of videogame "Final Fantasy XII," scheduled to be released later this year.''

Ashe - Kari Wahlgren
Has been confirmed to be the English voice over character for Ashe. To view more information about Kari, see pictures and even read her past work (resume) go to; kariwahlgren.net
**A little fact for you, she will also be doing the voice of Shelke in Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus.

Giddeon Emery - Baltheir
Giddeon was born in Windsor, Berkshire in the UK but moved to South Africa as a young child. He has done video game voice over work before. Such games are Ever quest II and Ghost Recon 2.

Interesting enough, Kari Wahlgren has done the voice acting of characters like Robin, from 'Witch Hunter Robin'; Cher, from 'Wolf's Rain'; and various games like Xenosaga II, Jade Empire, Tekken 5, and Fatal Frame 2 : The Crimson Butterfly. Plus, she will also be the voice of Shelke from FFVII:DoC. ;)

(EDIT)
I found a slightly better version of the english trailer that can be downloaded here. Courtesy of FFXII.net. <3

I think Ashe's voice sounds great! And all those British accents... :fangirl:. Ah, I'm so loving the music played in the trailer. Violins and all.

Must... get... FF12.

Lesca - June 5, 2006 05:53 PM (GMT)
I giggled like an idiot when i first watched the videos, the voice actors arent bad...even the snobby sounding english ones :P Penelo reminds me of Rikku's VA way too much though :ermm:

Yeah! It did! Thats the first thing that came to mind when Ashe said that...FF9. Sounds like Garnet asking Zidane to steal her....

Yeah! Thats the first thing that came to my mind when she asked that! I was like "Heh, FFIX shoutout!"

No but the voices sound great. And Penelo does sound like Rikku. I actually thought it was Tara Strong *Rikku's VA* at first, but its not (I don't think)

Oh and Ashe's husband *Is Rasler his name? Thats what someone told me* is looking pretty fine :fangirl: ...why does he have to die??

Bloodbath - June 7, 2006 03:48 PM (GMT)
This is one of the very first trailers I've seen of FFXII. It's very interesting! I haven't heard the Japanese voices, but so far, all the voices sound pretty nice.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't find Ashe's voice snobby in anyway. :/ Oh, and to be blunt, the slap made me gasp. And then giggle. :P

No way! :hyper: No wonder Ashe's voice sounded a bit familiar! :fangirl:
