Title: Remake Rumor
Description: EGM topic

Materia Thief - May 22, 2006 11:32 PM (GMT)
Whups, looks like the Remake is "official-ish". Well, at least, according to EGM.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Square Enix : 2007

Last year, Square Enix teased everyone with what it called the "FFVII PS3 Tech Demo." Well, what do you know: This test case was really a sneak peek at a next-gen revival of the PS1 role-playing hit.

Picture up when I can find my stupid cord. D:

Artec - May 22, 2006 11:55 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I read that article. It made me happy- to say the least. :P

But I'm going to wait for the official annoucement, before I start jumping to conclusions, I already went though that once! *thinks of AC*

Anti-R - May 23, 2006 12:12 AM (GMT)
I'd like to hear it from SE themselves. Not EGM.

Same. Honestly, I'm not looking forward to a remake now. I used to want it so bad, but who can afford a PS3 and a $70 game? Not me, not for a remake.

Kusari Yarou - May 23, 2006 12:07 PM (GMT)
I'm looking forward to it...that is, I'm looking forward to ogling the revamped screenshots, and especially the more visible facial expressions during the Cleris scenes. 'Fraid I'm not looking forward to playing it,because...I can't afford that *&(% PS3 and won't be able to for a long time  :P

cloud_n_aerith_strife - May 24, 2006 03:16 AM (GMT)
me neither kusari, how much is that ps 3 going to be anyway

Sefie - May 24, 2006 03:18 AM (GMT)
Well, this makes two magazines to announce a remake. I'd like to hear it from SE too though
How big was the announcement MT? Cuz the one I saw in GameInformer was just a tiny blurp

I still find no base =/ until I get something official, extra scenes or anything I'm not holding my breath... I've been thinking and I really don't want a remake =/

might - May 24, 2006 03:42 AM (GMT)
I need to hear it come out straight from the horse's mouth. Isn't that how the saying goes. O_o Eh i won't jump up and scream until SE does come out and say it in our faces. *Not exactly in our faces* =P

Key - May 24, 2006 05:31 AM (GMT)
I'm holding my breath, but I do hope the remake rumor isn't just a rumor.

I'd love to play FFVII with updated graphics (hopefully no changes to storyline and whatnot if the remake happens). Aer-chan-tachi in all their crazy PS3 graphics glory, banzai~<3

[EDIT: Aaaand evidently IGN has debunked this rumor. O well, maybe next time. +_+]

Kuki Prower - May 24, 2006 08:38 AM (GMT)
EGM...weren't they the ones who posted the fake review with Noruma about how he replaced Aerith with Tifa?

Whew! As impossible as this may seem, please let it STAY a rumour, SE!

*runs from everyone who wants a remake*

Granleon - May 24, 2006 11:05 AM (GMT)
Unfortunately, I must also add myself to the ranks of those who are (at the very least) uncertain about a remake. The problem is that with a remake, it is too easy to change things. Even small changes would probably bug me (e.g. identical initial "Dating Mechanism" weights instead of the original Aeris = 50, Tifa = 30). Given Square-Enix's current trend towards prolonging the "Love Triangle" (albeit still with more bias towards Cleris), a change of that sort would not be out of the realm of possibility.

Exactly. There's no doubt I will be pissed off as hell if changes like that were made-- and I can honestly say there's a very high chance SE will do that. The original game was very heavily Cleris-slanted, but does anyone think it'll remain that way with their new "open to interpretation" stance?

FFVII was lovely because it never pandered to any sides-- something that is bound to change if they remade it.

I also believe there's a higher chance of SE changing parts of the game than leaving the script and plot as is, because I don't think they could resist the chance to include all their new Compilation characters in it to some extent. All that retcon is just annoying. <_<

Resha - May 24, 2006 11:35 AM (GMT)
agrees with Lynn. FFVII was Clerisy enough, i don't want anything to change, or else maybe some parts of AC will not connect with FFVII, and AC was also Clerisy enough! They musn't!!!!
I don't want anything to change, they might even change Cloud's grief towards Aeris!!! NO! I'll die before i even get married or engaged!

IF they ever do I swear I'll surely buy that PS3 (me, my brother and sister) plus the FFVII for the platform with no hesitation!

EDIT: Well, what matters is CloudxAerith is still official, they must not put more Cloti service!!! end of rant.

~Fury Brand~ - May 24, 2006 12:32 PM (GMT)
Well with comments like KH2's Aerith was sweet and innocent so unlike her FFVII self I'd like a remake with the enhanced graphics and VA that KH2 has so the people making those kind of comments can see exactly what they've been missing. Seriously ... some people seem to need large, clear and realistic graphics to get it :o

And how they for some reason completely miss all the nice Aerith scenes in FFVII and only remember " Aerith was insensitive to Barret" or " Aerith was a biatch to Tifa" :eyeroll:

MistaCloudStrife - May 24, 2006 01:38 PM (GMT)
Seriously... what month did this issue come out on? If it was April, or maybe even March you shouldn't believe it. I believe if it were true, they would have made a much larger article about it and maybe put it on the front of the mag as well.

An FFVII remake is much bigger than a 1x1 inch article.

goddess_in_pink07 - May 24, 2006 02:13 PM (GMT)
OMG, if that is true, i'm going to scream with excitement, and pity the one's who won't get to have a PS3 to play FF7-remake.....
But, swweeeeett! :peace: :peace: I can't imagine what Aerith's death scene will look like... omg, i need a tissue...  Its gonna be soo heart-breaking... I just wanna see who they'll portray Cloud's feelings when it happens.... i want tears dammit!

Kuki Prower - May 24, 2006 05:04 PM (GMT)
Its been confirmed as a rumour goddess, I'm so glad to. SE must leave VII alone <_<

Resha - May 24, 2006 06:37 PM (GMT)
I'll go for a rebellion! No remake, ffvii is enuf. but i think putting a ffvii version for ps3 with no changes except for graphics, i'm ok, as long as the script, the plot, the everything is all the same, i'll still have one day to wear my wedding gown XD i really wouldn't mind to see Cloud cry (hopefully and should be!) towards Aerith's death!!! god i'm evil.

Materia Thief - May 25, 2006 04:24 AM (GMT)
It was from the June 2006 issue, comparing XBOX360 game previews versus PS3 game previews.

Yeah, I'm sorry to those, but I don't want SE to kill ruin the VII name anymore :P

FF_Goddess - May 26, 2006 09:11 PM (GMT)
Well, there may be no remake, but they have already vowed to milk FFVII for the next 10 years with spin-offs. <_<

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - May 26, 2006 09:52 PM (GMT)
I don't mind a remake, but at least I don't worry about getting it AND the PS3. SE should focus on other stuffs like, say, developing other games?

Sadhana - May 26, 2006 10:44 PM (GMT)
Oh, thank the Lord. It's all a rumor. *huge sigh of relief* I'm sorry everyone that wants a remake, but I'm too afraid. As mentioned by other people before, I just have a strong feeling that SE would either turn down the intensity of the Cleris moments of the original game or make more Cloti moments. I would only like it IF they left the script, plot, battle system, etc. completely alone. The only thing I ever disliked about FFVII was the crummy graphics (Aerith and Cloud can kiss and huggle all they want in fanfics, but she's better off leaving after disc one as far as the game goes).

cloud_n_aerith_strife - May 27, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
what more can they do with FF 7? They want to keep making games for the next 10 years geez, I know this one Cloti who says that Cloud and Tifa are certainly going to get together in one of those games.

Sefie - May 27, 2006 04:28 AM (GMT)
Darn, I REALLY want a remake. No more spinoffs, just give us the remake and then let FFVII rest

~Fury Brand~ - May 27, 2006 11:40 AM (GMT)
I agree Sefie. Although I'm really looking forward to Crisis Core hypocrite that I am :P

Like ... IGN's any more reliable. They've came up with plenty of misinformation in the past :-O

cloud_n_aerith_strife - May 27, 2006 09:17 PM (GMT)
I don't see what would be wrong with an FF7 remake as long as they don't change anything but the graphics, don't add anything and don't take anything out just change the graphics.

LadyNelZelpher - May 27, 2006 09:38 PM (GMT)
I don't understand why everyone keeps saying that if they do a remake they'll make it more CloTi. :ermm: Kingdom Hearts, Advent Children, and even Itadaki Street, are all new and they all kept the Clerithness, so why is everyone so worried?

Angelalex242 - May 27, 2006 09:48 PM (GMT)
Actually, I would change a few things.

Oh, not anything major, but I'd have choices the player makes have a far bigger impact.

The dating game would have more components to it...EVERY Choice you make that affects the girls (or Barret) would add or subtract points.

There would also be superdates.

Like, if you max out Aerith's affection before the date, she might actually kiss him or something. Showing Western Style undeniable affection instead of Japanese style. It might also be possible to retrieve the White Materia for some Holy Spells (of the more common sort)

I can't speak for everyone else, LNZ, but here's why I think they would make the game more Cloti/less Cleris.

When the game was made, the creators didn't have to service anybody because there weren't any fans yet. They could make it however they wanted (obvious since they killed Aerith to the anger of MANY people). I really do believe the creators had intended the canon couple to be CloudxAerith. There are just SOOOO many Cleris moments that are unoptional. IMO, the date mechanism is nothing more than a replay game. For example, the more unlikely the date is, the harder the date is to get. Aerith is the most likely choice for Cloud, so she's the easiest to get. Tifa is next in line, so she's second easiest to get. Then Yuffie. Then Barret. The date mechanism seems to be set up in a way that it's just for replayers to try and get the silliest date.

All that said, we can see how SE has definitely been servicing its fans lately. Even though Tifa wasn't in KH, they bring her into KH2, probably because Clotis complained so much. Advent Children was very Cleris, but I think SE made certain moments in a way so that pro-CloudxTifa fans could interpret them as Cloti. *dodges tomatos*. As far as I'm concerned, SE has been throwing more Cloti into the mix of FFVII than there was in the game to service their fans. Although the Compilation is still heavily Cleris, the amount of Cleris present in the untouched-by-fans RPG is unmatched.

So my fear is this: if SE has been making the Compilation more Cloti to service its fans, what if they do the same to the original game?

Here's the confirmation of it just ebing a rumor.

Resha - May 28, 2006 09:53 PM (GMT)
msz aeris strife, now that you mentioned it, i'm scared already!!! I don't want to change FFVII!!! So no! I'm gonna go to Japan and demand to see Tetsuya Nomura if he ever did that (plus get his autograph :D).
But won't it be awkward if they change the schemes in FFVII? BC, AC...the other compilation's stories would be a bit unchained to FFVII. So, they shouldn't lay a hand on the scheme.
