Title: Nationality!
Description: Where do your looks originate from?
goddess_in_pink07 - May 19, 2006 02:50 AM (GMT)
ok, hopefully this hasn't already been posted. I don't feel like going throught all the pages...
But anyways, what nationality do you take after?
For me, my daddie gives me French! The national language of love!
From my mommie, i get Irish! :shamrock: :shamrock: So kiss me, i'm Irish. :D
Your replies are appreciated! Show your love for goddess! :huggle: :flag: :flag:
My last name is actually Hungarian, so i'm guessing somewhere along the line with my dad, he gets Hungarian....
Kusari Yarou - May 19, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
From my father's side, American. His father is half-American, half-Filipino
From my mother's side. Spanish. Her mother was half-Spanish, half-Filipino
So really, it's a hybrid of races
My last name is Spanish, which is unsurprising, as the Spanish conquered the Philippines for 300 years
Lynn - May 19, 2006 04:16 AM (GMT)
Both of my parents are Chinese.
...
Yeah, boring, innit?
So God or genes or whatever decided to mix it up a bit. So my dad looks Indian and my mom looks Malay, which ends up in me looking Eurasian/Chinese-Indian/Malay-Indian... I've even gotten "Portugese" thrown at me once.
But rest assured, even though I don't speak a word of my mother tongue, I'm actually Chinese.
yin-chan - May 19, 2006 07:56 AM (GMT)
...I'm afraid my answer is going to be exactly the same as Lynn's therefore making it three times more boring.
Ah, my mother's grandmother was .... from Holland, if I remember right? That's why my mum looks somewhat Caucasian, with the auburn eyes and elegant features and all. She got the good looks of the gene pool. :P
Thing that makes me even more boring is that I look chinese too, not any mixture of any kind. Normality is a.....blessing and a curse...?
Marionette - May 19, 2006 09:57 AM (GMT)
My Father is of Mexican decent, but was born and raised in the United States and my Mother is Greek, born in Greece etc. So I'm mixed XD I must look more "latina" though because people automatically assume that I speak Spanish and they start speaking to me in Spanish. XD (I don't know Spanish! So, whenever that happens it get's on my nerves.) But I also have a lot of people tell me that I look "exotic" and/or "mixed". People get confused by me. XD
Artec - May 19, 2006 10:22 AM (GMT)
I'm 25% Italian, 25% Irish, and 50% lebanese. And that's some how making me Blonde and blue eyed.. :hmm: Yups!
NekoDono - May 19, 2006 11:00 AM (GMT)
Born in: USA
Blood: Mexican , Irish , French, Mongolian, Whelsh, and Polish
^^ I am actually mostly mexican even though I'm as pale as printer paper. Sad thing? I speak French incredibly well, English is my first language, and all I know in Spanish is how to cuss at people. XD
Real_Emotion - May 19, 2006 05:40 PM (GMT)
I pretty much just label myself as Filipino, but I have a few other nationalities mixed in.
Both of my parents are Filipinos. My mom is from Cebu, and my dad from Manilla. But, my mother has Hawaiian, Chinese, and Spanish(Argentina) blood mixed in, which she passed on to my brother and I. So, I am Filipino, Spanish, Hawaiian, and Chinese. An interesting mix... you have to wonder how this effects my hair  Heh, super thick, long, naturally wavy, and frizzes up the instant humidity and moisture is hanging in the air.
I don't know about my dad's side though.
Ally McBeal - May 19, 2006 06:13 PM (GMT)
Sadhana - May 19, 2006 06:40 PM (GMT)
I hope I can remember them all. Well, I was born in America, so I really consider myself American above anything else. However, my mom is an immigrant from Mexico, so she's Mexican with some Spanish and Indian (like the Aztecs) blood. My dad's paternal grandparents immigrated from Russia. The confusing part is my dad's maternal side which is where all the European blood comes from. It'll be easier if I make a list...
I am:
1) Mexican
2) Native American
3) Spanish
4) Russian
5) Irish
6) Welsh
7) British
8) Scottish
9) French
10) Polish
11) Italian
12) Israeli
I think that's all of it. I could be forgetting something. Basically, I'm a mutt.
And somewhere between all of those nationalities, I earned myself a Jewish last name and a Sanskrit (the ancient language of classical India) first name.
Paladin's Heart - May 19, 2006 07:35 PM (GMT)
Looks like we have another Filipino right here.
Both my Mother and Father are from the Phillipines, but I've been rumoured to have Japanese blood from my mothers side. Although I don't believe it, I enjoy being a Full Filipino (with Canadian Influence!), even though I can only understand some of our language. I can't speak it, though. What a disgrace I am XD.
Schala - May 19, 2006 07:45 PM (GMT)
I'm 100% Chinese, at least as far back I've been able to trace. I'm proud of it too, though I've actually never been to China before (but I know the language)! I guess I look... Chinese, but I've been mistaken for Malay because my skin is pretty dark. Americans sometimes think I'm Korean or Vietnamese. :P

:lmao: Same thing with me. My parent's tried teaching me, but seems like I just can't grasp the language as easy as they expected.
Dad: I don't get it. She's a honor roll student with a 4.0 gpa, captain of the Academic Team, and is in the National Spanish Honors Society... yet, she can't even respond to the simplest tagalog phrases?
Mom: She does know a few phrases...
Dad: Only phrases that concern her asking us for money! >_<
0:3
At least I can understand some...

I'm Indian FULL BLOWN Indian :woot: so kiss me i'm Indian :P
Imaginary__girl - May 19, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
I was born in the US. But according to my dad, I'm 85% Scottish, and 15% Italian. Not much in my blood XD
Kuki Prower - May 19, 2006 10:06 PM (GMT)
Born in Scotland, all of my family sides are Scottish cept for my great great great grandfather who immigrated from India.
So I'm like 90% Scottish and 10% Indian.
Pyra Kurai Akaidra - May 19, 2006 11:07 PM (GMT)
I'm 100% Chinese with some Australian influence on me like accent!
From my dad side, pure Chinese all the way to my ancestor as an councilor/adviser in a village near Lake of Thunder (that's what my dad told me). I'm the 26th generation!
I don't know my mum side, as she lost her copy of our family history. Maybe my relatives have one...But I know we're pure Chinese with the exception of an white guy married into the family to my aunt.
It's a thing with my family, but we have two first names, Chinese and English. I think it's to let the English-speakers be more comfortable.
Evenstar - May 20, 2006 01:02 AM (GMT)
@Kusari Yarou, Real Emotion, Paladin's Heart: Good lord! All this time you guys are Filipino, or at least have Filipino blood?! I never knew!
Anywho, yeah, I'm Filipino but I was born and raised in Indonesia. My parents are both Filipino, my dad being 1/4 Chinese from his mother's side. He even looks Chinese . I can't really speak Tagalog well (same as you, Paladin Heart ;)) and I only know a few phrases. I could speak Bahasa Indonesia better than Tagalog, obviously.
My last name is Spanish, most likely given by the Spanish during colonial times as the bureaucrats decided that the natives should have "proper" names. Interestingly, my surname is pretty rare since I've been told that there are only a few of us with that surname, as compared to the usual De Leon or Cruz. My surname is the same as the town in the province of Castellón, Valencian Community, Spain in the region of Alto Palancia... Look it up if you're curious. :P

:o What a coincidence, Pyra! My family is all Chinese, except my aunt who married a white! And some of my relatives migrated to Australia for university, AND they have both English and Chinese names (though that's actually pretty common nowadays)!

WHOA! I'm not sure if that's suppose to be coincidental or fated! Also, it's my relatives from my dad side who came to Australia, with the except of my uncle from my mum's.
This is SO cooooool~! :D
Tacofoolio - May 20, 2006 10:54 PM (GMT)
I was born here in the US, but my blood got all good and mixed up! :P
1/2 Spanish from my mom, but I think there was a little Native American also mixed in there. On my dad's side, I got 1/4 Dutch, 1/8th Native American, 1/16th of German and Irish!
I like being mixed most the time, but it can get annoying when I'm labeled as not being something because I only have a part of it, or when questionaires force me to pick. It's even worse when I've asked my teachers in the past and they tell me just to pick white. I think that they should allow mixed race to be an answer, I always feel like I have to choose between my parents when I have to answer, when I'm actually proud of being a mix. *gives rant* Oh well!

I was over my boyfriend's house once, and his little brother made a comment about how Mexicans are dirty, not knowing I'm half-Mexican. That was an awkward conversation.

My dad's 100% Vietnamese. My mom is half Viet, half Chinese, and some tiny bit of Cambodian. So I'm mostly Vietnamese, so that's what I identify myself as.

Born in California. Full Filipino. I've never been to the Philippines but both my brothers have. I'm so jealous of them! I used to speak Tagalog well but now I can just understand it and speak rough sentences. It's true, if you don't use the language, you lose it. :P
Resha - May 22, 2006 08:57 AM (GMT)
my mom is half south korean and filipino, my dad half spanish and filipino, so there. but now my family and i are Korean citizens.
EDIT: I am still studying Korean language, and I only know a bit of Tagalog, am not good at it though, I've been in the Philippines just once, my parents trained me for English...because they told me it was the international language and damn they haven't taught me a lot of Korean and Tagalog words!!!

Oh and like various types of love and music.
