We'll I got RPG Maker2k3 and I want to make an FF7 Gaiden and I wanted some suggestions to make it.First of all,the story:I thought that I would make it in a setting like a school.Alot like FF8.Everyone is there,and they don't know that Shinra is killing the planet,Sephiroth isn't evil,and everyone is more concerned about school than sving the world.I'll take any suggestions. :chocobo:

If you're going the school route, I'd make it more of a Kingdom Hearts prequel. At least there Aeris and Cloud actually did know each other when they were younger and it lets you play around with that without contradciting the established story too much.

Since it's an AU it doesn't matter either way, it would be better to set it apart from the others more, a KH-prequel just doesn't sound good to me with what the person is doing

I've never been a big fan of AUs, expecially highschool ones. I was just offering a way to do a highschool story without having to erase everything and start from scratch.

that's fair enough, i just felt it didn't really fit into a kh prequal type thing. but whatever the creator wants to do with it.

Maybe it's supposed to be more like the ff8 gardens than highschools, at least that's what I was thinking, since i don't really think you can do much in a highschool story setting with an rpgmaker, unless your highschool is filled with monsters or something

I thought that Sephiroth could be a friend instead of an enemy.Maybe the enemy could be someone from another ff game.

I say you should try making a crap test rpg first to see if you actually have the patience for RPG maker.

And as for the story... If it's a school, I say go love triangle story... Cloud, Aeris, Zack, Tifa, Tseng, Reno, and Elena... I think that was the actual triangle in FFVII. Some less important than others, but they're all linked together.

I agree with you, you can do some kind of high school love triangle story. I think that would be cool!

I'd use Sephiroth as more of a neutral if you're going that way. He's not really a freind, but he's doesn't hate them either. He's just the BIG MAN on campus and for the most part, doesn't really notice them.

I think that covers the major ones.

And of course if you're going KH style, that also drags Leon and possibly Rinoa into things.

I guess I could just do the school love triangle thing,but then what about the battles?I can't just put a bunch of monsters in a school.

well I think it should be reno likes tifa (that's how it is in the ff 7) and well rude can like elena, but everything else u said is cool

I thought Reno said he liked Elena. I may be remembering it wrong though.

I looked up a script on gamefaq, of when they are having thier 'guy talk'.

That's the only bit i can think of where they say this kind of stuff

As for monsters in a school ff setting. . .
You could have school gangs and the like, that would let you involve fighting and keep it 'normal'.
Or you could make it a bit more mystycal and have monsters and magic but have it very underground, High school student by day but Monster fighting hero by Night!
Or you could make the school more like the FF8 Gardens, that would let you include monsters easily too

And about the battles.. Well I'll get to that after I give out a couple more of my ideas.

2 rival schools. Perhaps "Avalanche High" and "Shin-Ra High"... Oooh. Lol
The obvious people go to thier obvious school.

Now Sephiroth... if kept alive could be already graduated and is now about to have his "Reunion"... Hah.

All of the minor details can be hammered out later. Just giving out the better of the random ideas that are out of my head.

Right now, some battling ideas should be coming up. Fighting some people from the other school. Bums on the streets. Maybe monsters invade the school at some point.

Also with this type of set up it complicates the love-traiangles even more which is pretty nifty IMO. You can even add a couple more complications. Maybe have Aeris start out in ShinRa or something like that.
