Title: Was English Ac Worth The Wait?

LeaveOnYourBrightLights - May 2, 2006 12:25 AM (GMT)
..Well. Except for some of us who were impatient like me and bought it in Japanese. We're cheaters.
What did you think?
Except for a few things. BUT I FINALLY UNDERSTAND THE VINCENT PHONE JOKE.
I could have survived the wait, it was worth it to me. :D
Do you agree or disagree? ^^

Well i think it was worth the wait, yet i still wished there was alot more put into it and yeah that would have taken longer but then it would have made the movie even better. Like there are still so many questions and now new ones to be anwsered. *Nods head* But i think the wait was worth it...still have some issues with certain voices, but that is IMO. Still glad i waited. ^^ Yay my ranting of no sense. XD

BlackWind - May 2, 2006 05:52 PM (GMT)
I think it was worth the wait. Watching it in Japanese got a little tiring if you don't speak that language! XD Besides...We got the bonus disk, well, some of us anyways, with interviews with Steve Barton and Rachel Lee Cook(Spelling on those two names I dunno) which were kinda funny, because by the looks of it, they didn't understand the movie, cuz' they never played the game. XD And..I always wondered what Yazoo said that got Reno and Rude so offended..Something like, "Oh, the eons aren't trusting?" Heck, I still don't get it. >.> But now I at least know what he said...

I didnt think so. After watching the Japanese version, the English version didnt do as great as i thought it would.

To me, it was well worth it. I liked most of the voices (despite having a problem with a couple of others). And the fights were great.

Cloud vs. Sephiroth. That. Kicked. @$$. Aside from that, my favorite part from the movie was them adding guitar riffs to the "One Wing Angel" song.

The whole thing rocked. I think it was worth the wait, though some might disagree. >_>

It was worth it for me. Though not because of the English version, I thought the Japanese voices were better though I didn't think the dubbed voices were half bad at all, but for the extras.

Like Cetra_Aerith pointed out, I really enjoyed Distance and I like the deleted scenes too, even though they were not very different from the footage in the movie.

And of course, I love watching AC on a big television screen compared to the computer :P

I did like the English voices quite a lot (especially Sephiroth's voice!), and the bonuses were nice too, so I have to say that it was worth the wait. I'm loving my DVD so much that I watch it daily!

Tenshi_Aerith - May 9, 2006 01:20 PM (GMT)
I felt it was well worth it but because I have seen that Japanese version so many times I'm not use to it in English (Cause usually I'm reading what they say *sweatdrop*)

I'm not sure if it being in English was worth the wait since I wasn't the biggest fan of the VAs. But the DVD? Most definitely. Seeing that movie on a big screen (not a silver screen, but still big!) was an awesome experience. The extras were great too. The DVD was most definitely worth waiting for, but I would have to vote "no" for was English AC worth it.

It was worth it for Steve Blum as Vincent. Otherwise, I prefer the Japanese version anyday. The English voices just weren't up to my expectations.

Resha - May 11, 2006 09:13 AM (GMT)
of course it was worth it!!! lol i think Zack's voice is a killer-bishounen (i meant it in a good way! ) but i still prefer the Japanese version...since i am Asian, and...Aerith's voice is vewy pure, Maaya rox...^_^

I think he said the peons aren't trusting.

I believe that a "peon" is a high ranking person in something or other. In other words, "Nyahaha! Rufus don't trust yo cause yo's a dummy underling!"
:lmao: I would get mad, too.

Amathala - May 23, 2006 12:53 PM (GMT)
lol when you think peon, think "Pee on" underlings, someone who basically does a bosses dirty work, because the boss doesn't feel like doing things himself. Peon's normally aren't trusted with anything secretive either.

Lutearina - May 23, 2006 02:09 PM (GMT)
Oh! So the peons aren't trusted! I get it. Hehehe.

Bingo! lawl...guess I should have clarified that too...or maybe I should just read a little better...Yazoo's girlie voice screwed me up, I swear!

YES! I swear...His fairy-plum-princess-head-in-the-clouds voice threw me for a loop, too. And then there's Loz's tough dummy voice. :lmao: And Kadaj sounds like a nerdy/bratty teenager at points, such as "And we'll get REVENGE on the Planet!" :lmao: Mena did a rather better job on Aerith in some scenes, but the "Let's go,Cloud" was like... I liked Cloud's voice, but my FAVORITES were VINCENT! OH MY GOSH! :fangirl: And Sephiroth. Reno's voice rules, too...As he is Axel's double. XD Rude was awesome...Everyone did a rather nice job, IMO, even if their voices were rather comical at times. (The Threesome, for example...Kadaj,Yazoo,Loz-XD)

NekoDono - May 31, 2006 11:09 AM (GMT)
After all that hype I was a bit dissapointed. (and I was even a little w/ the japanese) They really could have tried harder

Bloodbath - June 4, 2006 06:35 AM (GMT)
Nah, I don't think it really was worth the wait. The voices are pretty mediocre... but it does explain some things I was confused about. Though if I want to watch AC again, I'll just stick to the Japanese version. ^_^

Alantie - June 13, 2006 07:02 PM (GMT)
In my opinion, it was worth the wait  I liked hearing the voices in English (well, some of them at least, lol) And lots of things just made more sense watching in English. I can watch it either in English or Japanese, and neither is better to me.

FF_Goddess - June 13, 2006 08:34 PM (GMT)
For me, it was all about confirming what the official translations were. Too many arguments were springing up about what was being said and all of the "my translations are right and yours are wrong" business was getting old. -_-

Personally, I really liked all of the English VAs. I thought they did a great job. :D

miracle_angel - June 23, 2006 06:30 AM (GMT)
I did not like the voice actors voices either!!!
I've only watched the english version recently and it was not what i had expected it to be!! Tifa's voice was soooo girly, i've always thought of Tifa having a strong voice that will reflect on her personality! and i hate the fact that Aeriths name was not mentioned in the movie!! or is it just the NZ dubbed version of the DVD oh well LOL

MY CLOTI CUZN WAS THERE AND THOUGHT THE MOVIE WAS CLOTI!!!!! man was she pushin my buttons lol!!!

Kanna152 - July 19, 2006 05:05 AM (GMT)
The english AC was worth it. However, the only part that made me want to stab my eyes out was when Tifa said " Dill Dally Shilly Shally!!"

ARGH!!! NO!!!! It's the sound of drifting!!!

That's my beef.
