Title: New Contest
Description: Any suggestions?

Anastar - April 30, 2006 04:36 PM (GMT)
I'd like to have another Contest, so I'm wondering what kind of Contest people would like to have?

Would you rather have a contest that's limited to one art form, like CloudxAerith art, graphics, writing, poetry, sigs, or video's? Or would you rather that any form of art or writing could be entered in the Contest, as long as it has to do with CloudxAerith?

Also, are there suggestions for a Contest topic, such as Advent Children, Kingdom Hearts, Cloud being reunited with Aerith, or Cloud and Aerith getting married? Or would you rather have it open for any topic?

I'd love to hear your ideas! :cleris:

EDIT by Lynn: Hi everyone, please vote on which contest you'd like to have on the Pick Your Contest poll!

It's a simple poll I put up to gauge who's interested in what kind of contest. Perhaps if the staff knows which contests are resonating well with the members, it'll make it easier for Anastar to decide. ^_^

Kuki Prower - April 30, 2006 04:46 PM (GMT)
Our most recent contests have been about banners and sigs/avvies so why not one about fanart or fanfiction? Then I could compete!

I wouldn't mind which subject, maybe about KH2? Since that is our most recent product that we haven't done a contest on.

yin-chan - April 30, 2006 04:53 PM (GMT)
Yaaaayyy a new contest! :hyper:

Oooh, fanart and fanfiction would be interesting. Or a short comic strip, something like that. Something quirky and fun. ^_^
Hmm....
Maybe a fanfiction/fanart joint contest, where the fanart draws a piece to collaborate with a fanfic? It would mean working in pairs - one fanfic writer and one fanartist - or a person could do it individually I suppose.

I agree that KH2 is a pretty good shot for a subject! :D

Or if you want something more general / different, the subject could be something really open to interpretation, like... 'Calling'. Or 'After the rain'. Or 'Waiting for you'.

AH! I don't know! My brain is exploding. :lmao:

Just muh suggestions!!

Tifa Lockhart - April 30, 2006 06:00 PM (GMT)
Well...I've never really done any decent fanart/fanfiction before, but I'll give it a go if that's gonna be the next competition. :D I don't mind what it is.

Nina - April 30, 2006 07:30 PM (GMT)
Hm, iunno... maybe a piece of literature, like poetry or stories. Something like that. ^^; It'll be a good chance for those who are not exactly professional with graphics (like me XD) to expose their skillz with other forms to express some beautiful Clerissy meaning.

It really warms the heart when people present something with flow, or a unique sense of writing that's beautifully fluent and catches the eye. IMHO the love of CloudxAerith is a SNAZZY inspiration.

Hence: my suggestion would prolly be poetry, I guess. ^^;

Tifa Lockhart - April 30, 2006 07:34 PM (GMT)
OOH yeah!! That's a good idea. I like that. Like...we could write a short story about Aeris and Cloud or something. Might take me a while, but I'm sure I'd be able to do it.

Sadhana - April 30, 2006 08:53 PM (GMT)
I agree with TS. A poetry contest sounds sweet... maybe have a Cleris poem of the month thing? (I'm pretty bad with these suggestions). If it were to be poems and short stories, I'd be too tempted to submit but embarrassed at the same time ( ) since I'm not a poet. So I'll try to avoid that little dilemma for myself and just say poetry hehe.

But in all seriousness, a poetry contest would be really nice. If it were to also include short stories, I would say that there'd have to be a limit on length since some can go on for quite a while. It just seems like something refreshingly offbeat from our regular contests (but we should definitely have a fanart contest soon so our talented artists can show off their hott skills :D ).

The_Lover_of_Aeris - May 1, 2006 09:59 AM (GMT)
Fanfiction contest it whould be more fair for us guys who who are useless at useing photoshop and Graphics. Like me.
I think the topic should be a year after advent Childen and.

Cloud trys to find a way to bring his one true love back. And he finds a way.
But he has to take a serious risk?
well thats all I can think about right now.

Kinda Embarsing. For me ( )

Yesh, people like me who don't know how to use grahpics full stop! A fanfiction and poetry contest sounds great. I've written poetry before and I'm quite gifted with fanfiction (I am bragging :P But I am proud of my writing skills).

Luna-Nayru - May 1, 2006 12:46 PM (GMT)
I like the idea of a post-AC fanfic. It's such a nice ending that can bring out so many new ideas regarding Cloud's future, and what his relationship with Aerith is really all about. I've actually been working on one for a while now, but it's actually not from Cloud OR Aerith's point of view. Which brings me to my next idea... and it could be kind of a challenge for some. How about a Cleris fanfic from Tifa's point of view? I just think it would be a nice way for the Tifa fans around here to appreciate her in a Cleris way. ^_^ We could even set the deadline for Tifa's birthday! :woot:

Don't mind me, I like throwing ideas out of nowhere. :D

Anastar - May 1, 2006 01:51 PM (GMT)
Thank you all for the ideas! :huggle:

I really like the idea of something after AC, but I don't think we should be as specific as Luna-Nayru or The Lover of Aeris suggested.

I think it should just be anything about CloudxAerith after AC. That way, it could be from Tifa's point of view (as Luna suggested), or it could be about bringing Aerith back (as Lover of Aeris suggested), or it could be about other ideas that people have, too.

How about we do a Fanfiction category and a Fanart category? Some people are better at art, while other people are better at writing. We could also do a Poetry category, if you want.

Sadhana - May 1, 2006 04:37 PM (GMT)
A post-AC fanfic. The one Cleris thing I happen to be in the middle of writing right now. I knew I was going to be too tempted to enter this contest. Shyness is a biatch...

If there is a fanart portion to this contest, what should the category be? Since our fanfic portion seems to be popularly steered towards "post-AC" should the fanart part be as well?

Yes, that's what I meant. The Fanart as well as Fanfiction categories would both be anything about CloudxAerith happening after AC.

I think that'd leave a lot of room for different ideas in both categories.

tif - May 1, 2006 06:18 PM (GMT)
um why not have people use movie maker

and see who comes up with the best

aerith and cloud movie huh

some people can put them on you tube

We could have an FMV category, too. If enough people are interested, there'd be no problem with that.

For those interested in doing an FMV, would you guys like to do it post-AC like the Fanart and Fanfiction categories, or would you rather have it be about any time period?

Hades' Daughter - May 2, 2006 05:11 AM (GMT)
Fanart, fanfiction, and FMVs eh?
Guess I'm out of this competition... :giggle:
*HD has zero talent*

It sounds incredibly fun. Best of luck to all those who'll be participating. There are so many talented people on these forums. I'll be looking forward to seeing all the wonderful Cleris pieces... ^_^

Marionette - May 2, 2006 08:46 AM (GMT)
Since summer is fast approaching why don't we have a summer themed fanfic/fanart contest. Just a thought.

Hm, I wouldn't mind another fanart/fanfiction contest. I've been practicing meh sketching skillz. Lolz. I'll have to post them sooooon...

Fan works contests are a must. I joined just after the last contests. :(

That's a good idea! But CloudxAerith Summer stories? Yes?

tif - May 2, 2006 03:53 PM (GMT)
that would be

um very intresting

but fun

I suggest any time period...only 'cos...isn't it hard to do something like that on a specific theme such as post-AC?

I would think that doing an FMV about CloudxAerith post-AC wouldn't be easy, since there's way more scenes with Cloud in AC than with Aerith. For FMV's, I would think it'd be easier to let people use any time period.

QUOTE (Marionette)

That could be fun, too, Marionette. However, if we made the topic post-AC, then it would also be easy for people to make it during the summer time if they wanted to.

SweetJanie - May 2, 2006 08:59 PM (GMT)
I don't think having a particular season would be good. My favourite season is Spring, and flowers remind me more of Aerith than actually summer... ^^'

I'm totally joining in the fanart section! So, just fanart or doujins as well? I'd like to draw a doujinshi, but only if more people did as well... :(

Tacofoolio - May 2, 2006 09:59 PM (GMT)
Sounds interesting! ^_^ I might write a fan fic for it this time, just so I actually participate! lol I do think that you should have a limit on how many words for the fics, because I think comparing a short oneshot and these multi-chaptered works is pretty difficult. Then we can judge them on a more equal basis, and we wont have ones that are so long people don't take the time to read them or people voting on one because it's the longest. Just a thought!

I think that leaving it so it's simply after AC is a good choice because there is a lot of room to get creative. I'm looking forward to seeing the art and stories! ^_^

We could also do Doujinshi's, if you want. I'm not sure how many other people would do them, though. As I remember, only a few people entered the last time we tried a Doujinshi category.

That's a good thought, Tacofoolio. Why don't we just make it anything that can fit in one post? If it won't fit in one post, then it's too long!

Nevi - May 3, 2006 12:33 AM (GMT)
Ooh! If we were to do doujin I'd love to do it!
...But only if I could have my sister do the art and I do the story, cause that's how we do stuff.
We're about to start working on an online manga and I think the experience would be good for us. If two can't do doujin I'd like to do fanfiction or some kind of graphics thing.

yin-chan - May 3, 2006 05:02 AM (GMT)
This sure is getting exciting! *definitely gets ready to enter for fanart*

A doujin category would be interesting, but only if more people take part. It's a bit tedious...unless a limit is set for the number of pages or something. :ermm:

I have a tendancy to write too much words, why not just have the section to just be one shots only? I can post my work on Fanfiction.net and provide a link. Maybe 2000-3000 words could be the limit?

The_Lover_of_Aeris - May 3, 2006 10:27 AM (GMT)
I hope the contest starts soon I really want to try and win a Contest.
Or at lest post an enter cause the Banner Contest dident work for me.
I couldent make it please can we have a Fanfic part the is the only thing i am good at.

Lynn - May 3, 2006 10:34 AM (GMT)
OMG, a fanfic competition? :hyper: Finally, something I can join! :hyper: Assuming I don't miss the deadline without knowing.

I think the idea to fit it into one post sounds good, especially if we don't plan to post it anywhere else. It'll be easier on people who don't have FF.net accounts too. But if the word limit is, say, 5000 words per post, I support capping it at around 2000 - 3000.

I don't think the fics should be too long, since assuming we get a fair number of entries, it'll take a very long time to finish reading all of them. ^^;

Also, to keep things, ah... "interesting", how about a very general theme for the competition? I think someone suggested this earlier. Say, a theme: "stars". Now it's up to each contestant to write how they want to with this theme in mind.

Or maybe have a sentence that MUST be inserted into the fic, no matter the context. You can get some pretty amusing results with this, depending on the sentence. :D

If we're doing the fanart-with-fanfic idea, though, I just have one thing to say: I get dibs on yin-chan!!! *pulls Wifey Rank*

Nevi - May 3, 2006 05:47 PM (GMT)
Maybe we could have a fanfic/doujin contest. Cause doujin is like fanfics with pictures.

Edit: I think 25-30 pages would be good for doujin.

SweetJanie - May 3, 2006 11:09 PM (GMT)
THAT LONG?! O_O' I'm too lazy to draw that much!! :lmao:

You know, I really like the pairs idea! D: I'd either pair with Leon, Taco or MT, I don't mind at all! xD *spoke about this with MT first, so she's in advantage comparing to the others* :hide:

Materia Thief - May 4, 2006 12:11 AM (GMT)
I can't draw, but a pairs-doujin contest or a fanfic contest'd be fun. ^_^

yin-chan - May 4, 2006 03:50 AM (GMT)
Oh no, not doujin! :lmao: I mean, I'm not against the idea, but I would hesitate to take part in a doujin contest. It's too tedious!!! :lmao:

And if it's 25-30 pages long, I'll die. :lmao: My poor Real-Life will suffer! :lmao:

Anastar - May 4, 2006 01:03 PM (GMT)
It sounds like a lot of people like the idea of pairs. If we do a Doujin contest for pairs, then both artists and writers can get involved.

So how about two categories for the Contest? One category will be for Doujins (to be done alone OR in pairs), and the other category will be for FMV's?

I have no idea what to require for a length, since I've never tried to make either one!

Kuki Prower - May 4, 2006 01:43 PM (GMT)
The pairing idea sound great! It also seems to be a lot of fun to! ^_^

Guess this time I have to stand aside and wait for all that doujin works. Zero talent in drawing them, you see. XD
I can just picture: all those gorgeous Cleris fanworks, no matter what they will be, on my computer *drools*

Nevi - May 4, 2006 07:25 PM (GMT)
Is 25-30 pages all that long? Okay how about 15-20 pages?

*nevi will be working on 50 page chapters so 25 doesn't too many*

But I think 25 is too many (though that would be great  ).
