Title: Remake For The Ps3
Description: Info from a gaming mag

Sefie - April 28, 2006 05:52 AM (GMT)
In this month's edition of Game Informer there was a small blip about a remake of FFVII for the PS3. It mentioned that the game IS going to be remade and that the battle system would be like FFXII's(>.< WHY they want to screw up the perfect battle system is BEYOND me, but whatever).
I kinda expected a bit more about it, like ya know, a larger announcement and all. What do you guys think, true or no?

MistaCloudStrife - April 28, 2006 06:06 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I saw that... It was such a small piece. I guess they don't have enough info on it to make it a bigger article.

I hate FFXII's battle system. Too much waiting. Thats why I like the older ones, you have to wait for the bar but at least the bar loads BEFORE you attack, not after. So after you choose attack you have to run around dodging enemy attacks and such. I wouldn't mind it for magic or summons, but attacking and items are too much.

I like that other interview where they said that weapons and accesories would be interchangable and you would actually be able to see them in the FMV sequences. Sounds really cool.

lalagirl - April 28, 2006 06:34 AM (GMT)
nyoooe.. they're making a remake?! waaaaa!!

i can't afford a ps3...

i doubt my dad'll buy me one.. i'm not doing very good in class...

oh well..

yin-chan - April 28, 2006 09:01 AM (GMT)
What? There's seriously going to be a remake? Oh no...

Uhh...I think I'll wait for a larger announcement before believing it first. Is Game Informer a reliable magazine?

~Fury Brand~ - April 28, 2006 01:49 PM (GMT)
I saw a similar interview ... in the one I saw they said they ( the magazine people) would like to see upgraded graphics along with upgraded battle systems *like* FFXII, and they'd like everything else ( like story) untouched k thx. A lot of mags have it listed under their PS3 line ups but the information is them speculating what it's going to be like more than anything.

And I dunno though if it were true ... running around with Aerith in battle doesn't sound too bad :woot:

ladystrife - April 28, 2006 02:15 PM (GMT)
OMFG!!! if this is true i will be the happest girl alive but i supoose i wont get my hopes up too much if its not true but i sure hope it is i dont really mind the battle system that much in FFXII but why they wood change FF7 battle system to that one is kinda wierd since ff7 is awsome all together but if the gameplay is good the graphics are good the voice acters are good and the game is good witch theres no reason why it souldint be am happy :D :lmao:

FF_Goddess - April 28, 2006 02:57 PM (GMT)
Ugh... :puke: Seriously, if they do make a remake, it needs to be the same game with better graphics. When they start changing things is when they start pissing everyone off.

Oh yes, but if this is true, I am pissed off. For god's sake SE! You've squeezed FFVII enough! Let the game go and continue with the FF series!

Artec - April 28, 2006 07:42 PM (GMT)
Honestly, I would love a remake as long as they keep the original script of FFVII. Imagine Cloud and Aerith talking with expressions, and voices too! I know it's hard for me to imagine. Wait, never mind... *thinks of Kingdom Hearts*

But something tells me that if SE were to make a remake they would make it more 'love triangle' based... that'd be too bad considering how Cleris the original game was.

I agree. <_< If they changed nothing, the game would still be ClAeris. So, I can see them throwing a few CloTi bones into the mix to make that fandom happy. I can't see a remake really being a good idea, especially if they really are going to change up the battle system.

Lynx - April 28, 2006 08:09 PM (GMT)
Well, if they make it, I'll wait for years when it is finished, then download AMVs from internet and then wait for years for the game to appear somewhere where I can buy it...
If not, then I think I'll live through it.
Therefore I'm not really amazed. If they do it, okay. In any case we always have the original.

Artec, you're right! How emotional may Aerith's Death scene be! It's not like I don't like it in the game, but... pixels, yeah.

lalagirl - April 29, 2006 01:06 AM (GMT)
yeah, as long as they don't give any stupid cloti fanservice, i'd be happy.. XD

but i am so sure that i won't be able to buy it.. (darn it, i shouldn't have told my parents that i don't believe in santa anymore.. >< i could've asked him for a ps3)

I wanna see Aeris' death most of all.. XD

CRY CLOUD CRY!!! NYAHAHAHA!!!

hihihi..

yin-chan - April 29, 2006 03:30 AM (GMT)
I am completely against a remake, wheter they change it or not. <_< I just think SE's done enough with FF7.

But if they did make a remake, I would buy it anyway.

*LOL* Ah, well-said, m'dear Yin-chan! :huggle: I'm really pissed off that they're really re-making the game (is it totallytotallyTOTALLY confirmed?), yet I'd still buy it. ...if I have can even afford a PS3 first. '_' My PS2 already broke. ;_; *kicks it*

-Testament- - April 29, 2006 06:05 AM (GMT)
Even if its made, your not force to play it :D Why would you buy something your completely against :ermm:

I hope it's remade.

Clerith-son - April 29, 2006 07:23 AM (GMT)
Let's wait for this news to be confirmed to be 100% official, before jumping into conclusions.

LadyNelZelpher - April 29, 2006 02:46 PM (GMT)
I'm almost sure this is not true.
If it were, the news would be all over the place. And since it hasn't even been mentioned in sqaure's official site, I'm sure it's just a rumor.
I would love a remake, only if they kept it 100% like the original one.

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - April 30, 2006 01:18 AM (GMT)
Ahh, remakes. It's the only thing I can play earlier games that I can't find yet expect changes. (Take Maverick Hunter X for example, fans are complaining about the change in storyline from the first MMX game and about Vile's neutral stance compared to being Sigma's loyal follower originally.)

I MIGHT get it, but still 50/50 about the remake. Only if they kept to the original as we all know and love. I'd like to see the improved graphics and great musics!

As for the battle system, I hope they kept it the way it is, but with interchangeable weapons and armour. THAT'LL be interesting instead of attacking and heal your opponents by accident.

I like to bring this up, does anyone want to see Barret in that sailor suit again?

Jazzabsurdity - April 30, 2006 10:23 PM (GMT)
Oh yeah~!!! Thats why I bought the game xD Just kidding.Yes, I believe that Baret looks rather ...awkward in the sailor suit ^^; Not saying that he looked ugly but he looked pretty-ugly. :barret: <-- hahaha barret : D

goddess_in_pink07 - May 1, 2006 12:25 AM (GMT)
Well, i thought they didnt know if they were remaking the game, but cool! I would definately love a remake.
But, the chances of them doing something stupid is quite high. They could alter conversations, or change a scence, or do something that would disappoint fans. But hey, we gotta take a chance. Just imagine how much Square would make off a FF7 remake.....

dl316bh - May 1, 2006 04:37 AM (GMT)
Well, I'm all for a remake actually. I think Square would handle it well. For example, look at the ones the did for the GBA and DS. FFIV is a prime example. They upped the graphics and didn't affect the storyline at all. Just added some extra stuff.

If they were to remake FFVII, likely the only changes based on their track record with that stuff is extra dungeons and other stuff. The story would very likely remain the same.

So I'm all for it. I'd really like to see an updated version. After all, as great as FFVII is, sometimes it's almost painful to see the legoish characters in the towns and such.

Now will they do it is another story, and completely up to them, but hey, they are expanding the storyline and everything, so I don't believe a remake is too far out there. Maybe someday...

Imaginary__girl - May 1, 2006 09:29 PM (GMT)
If they do remake it, I hope they make it for the PS2 as well *though its doubtful* because I really don't feel like buying a PS3...but if thats what it comes to then I guess I will. My dad already offered to buy it for me and everything, but I like my PS2 :ermm:

But if it comes out for the PS3 only then I'm fine with that too. Just as long as they remake it.

cloud_n_aerith_strife - May 1, 2006 09:57 PM (GMT)
I'm afraid now, if they are going to make a remake they should keep things EXACTLY the same, including the battle system. I would play it still anyway, but all they should change is the graphics.

Sadhana - May 1, 2006 09:57 PM (GMT)
I kind of hope that this is just a rumor... Although I agree that FFVII has been done to death already, it would be very cool to see some of the FMVs done in today's graphics. As mentioned by people before, an FMV like Aerith's death scene redone would come out as being much more emphatic. But better FMVs is about the extent of my wanting a remake. I really liked the FFVII battle system. Why should they change it? And I'm afraid that with their overwhelming Cloti fanbase, they may turn down the volume on some of our beloved Cleris scenes :cray: . If it was the EXACT same game with different graphics, I'd be happy. But I don't feel like it would go that way.

Sefie - May 1, 2006 11:11 PM (GMT)
Well, it's not a rumor about it being in the magazine. I beheld the little snippet myself(got my geek fix during voice class going through that mag, aaah). I reckon the magazine might be incorrectly informed.

Clerith-son - May 2, 2006 12:25 AM (GMT)
It's is no a rumour it being in the magazine, but it is a rumour IN the magazine. This is what its Loose Talk section says:

"Last E3, Square Enix made fanboys squel when it showed how Final Fantasy VII could be remade on the Playstation 3. Of course, the company went to pains to point out how it had no plans to release an updated version of Final Fantasy VII on the system.

Rumors have been swirling since day one that the game would indeed come to the PS3, and now Loose Talk has not only heard that those rumors are true, but that the remake will in fact use the battle system from Final Fantasy XII."

Whilst no offical announcement has been made, let's hope their sources are reliable! More information may be revealed at E3 so stay tuned to PS3Land as we bring you the latest coverage."

Still, I guess we'll have to wait for this year's E3 to find out if this is real or not.

Sefie - May 4, 2006 01:52 AM (GMT)
But that's not the same magazine article that I was talking about. I'll see if I can borrow my friend's copy and scan it for you guys.
