Title: Homesick
Description: *sigh* I tried to write another fic...

AmayaSaria - April 16, 2006 04:02 AM (GMT)
Okay, I wanted to try another fanfic...
Summary: Cloud's thinking about Aeris. A wee bit depressing...
Let me know what you guys think!
-----------------------------------------------------
Staying in the church, where she once was, it helped him. It soothed his soul and gave him comfort. To be surrounded by her, and the flowers she left behind.

It soothed him....but it still wasn't home.

Sure, he had friends, family---heck he even had an almost-adopted kid. But no, that wasn't enough for him. No matter how much Tifa and Barret cared, no matter how many times he could talk to Denzel or Vincent....it wasn't the same.

He needed one person in his life. And the one person he wanted there, couldn't be in his life.

And it hurt. So much.

So many people have told him to move on, eventually he did. But he'd always look back, and feel the same way.

He would always feel this way.

~...I close my eyes...~

....he was doing it again. His mind was wandering back to her.

Cloud laid back against his ragged blanket. He slowly opened his eyes, and stared blankly at the ceiling.

His life still didn't change. He stayed at her church, and helped the lonely orphans. He felt like he could connect to them, better than anybody. Especially Denzel. Even though he was just a young child, Cloud felt like he could relate to him the most.

Cloud shifted on his blanket, and put his back towards the wall. He stared at the flowers, which were still growing with colorful life.

"If she was here...she'd be smiling." Cloud said himself, closing his eyes to picture Aeris smiling gentlely at him.

~...and I see your face...~

He really wanted to be with her again. If he was with her, this empty void inside him would be full again.

Slowly, Cloud started to get up.

"What am I doing? I should be training..." Cloud trailed off as he picked up his sword. He started with his warm-ups, slashing up, down, and across.

His training always focused him. It never allowed him to think of anything else, especially her.

But...today...today was different. Every slash, every movement he made, memories of her skittered across his mind.

~...if home's where my heart is...~

Cloud swung harder. Made his movements faster. "Why...won't...the...pain...go away?!?!" He shouted out.

After all these years...

...he still didn't stop thinking about her. Every word, every gester she ever made was forever entched his heart.

~...then I'm out of place...~

Cloud's slashes eventually slowed down to nothing. He quietly placed his sword on the floor of the church, and then slumped against a cold, hard wall.

Staring at the pink ribbion on his arm, he slowly reached his hand over to touch it.

~Won't you give me strength, to make it through somehow?~

Cloud gentlely rubbed the pink fabric between his fingers."You...probably don't want me to be like this." He said, speaking to himself again.

"I know you don't want me like this..."

But...

...this isn't my home. My home is wherever you are...and you aren't here.

"I'm homesick, Aeris. I really miss you." Cloud whispered, as if she was right there, listening.

"But...to make you happy..."

...I'll try my best to make myself happy.

Cloud picked himself up, and started towards the doors.

"Time to go out, I guess. I'll go visit my friends...Talk to you later, Aeris."

Even though she wasn't there...

...she was in his heart, like she has always been.

Even if this wasn't home...he would make the best out of this.

For her.

~I've never been more homesick than now~

Aww, that was so sad  . I'm actually in the process of writing a fanfic now, and it involves a similar scene in the church with Cloud missing Aerith. So sweet. CloudxAerith is such a tragic love story. Nice job :huggle: .
