Title: .rmv Files?

yin-chan - April 1, 2006 04:58 AM (GMT)
I need some help! Recently I've downloaded a couple of movies to watch on my PC, and they are Real media format, but when I try to play it with Real Player, it says Real Player doesn't have the software available to play the content. I click on 'details' and it says RMV. So I'm assuming Real Player can't play .RMV files?

Anyways, I ran a google search and followed the links. I have k-lite codec pack installed, and I also tried installing Real Alternative, which is what the links told me to do. But when I try playing it in Media Player Classic it says 'cannot render file'. It still can't play in Real Player either.

 Does anyone know the solution to this? *has raped google all over*

Hmm... I know nothing about this kind of thing... I would suggest finding another kind of codec, but I'm tech illiterate.

Which RM player do you have?

If you don't have 10, try downloading that.

Just click on that.

And as for me, VLC usually can play whatever I dish out. Of course not all the time, but most of the time.

If this doesn't help any then... I probably don't know what to do. =)

Thanks guys!! :huggle:

Thanks for the link, MistaCloudStrife, I downloaded it - but nope, still doesn't work. The same error message comes out. :( Thanks anyways for trying to help! :huggle:

Maybe I'll try VLC player... *goes to search for download link*

Edit :No, VLC player doesn't work either. *sigh*

RealMedia Player should be able to play it. Try re-installing it, if it still doesn't play the file, then most likely the file is broken. Sometimes media files lack of some stuff, they might seem as if they could work, and the palyers don't recognize them as broken, but as unsupported files.
