Title: Next Compilation Announced
Description: yes, ANOTHER one... <_<

yin-chan - April 1, 2006 03:05 AM (GMT)
This afternoon in Japan, Square-Enix held a brief press conferance, shortly after the final episode of Before Crisis was made available for download. The conferance was private and only available to members of the news media, though some information has leaked in the last couple of hours on the Japanese 2ch message boards.
During the meeting, Yoichi Wada showcased several trailers for the FFVII Compilation, including the Crisis Core trailer that was first shown at the SE Party last year, telling the audience to look forward to this year's E3.

The primary focus, however, was was Before Crisis. Several staff members apparantly spoke about the success of the game, and briefly discussed how they went about designing the game on a monthly basis. The director also mentioned that he wished they had spent more time designing Azul, after it was decided that he would be featured in Dirge of Cerberus.

However, before the conferance ended, the Before Crisis team premiered an interesting piece of news, which nobody expected. Due to the popularity of Before Crisis, they announced a follow up title to Before Crisis, which will once again be for the mobile platform.

The tentative title of the next game in the Compilation is "Era Clash -Final Fantasy VII-", and development is already underway. The game is being developed for the latest generation of iMode phones, such as the p902i, which are capable of displaying detailed 3D graphics.

The game will feature 3D graphics, using an engine similair to the recent Code Age: Brawls, which unfortunately means that it likely won't be seen stateside for quite some time.

Many of these details are difficult to confirm at this time, but what we do know is that, like BC, the game will be a prequel, starting more than 14 years before FFVII. The title specifically reflects that the game takes place before the 'era' in which most of the Compilation is set.

In Era Clash, the player will take the role of a recent SOLDIER recruit, as the Shinra Company prepares to go to war with the world. Throughout Shinra's campaign, you will be able to meet and fight alongside legends like Zack and Sephiroth, as well as learn more about the pasts of characters such as Restrictor, Weiss, and even Johnny.

The premise of the game is very similair to Before Crisis, in that you select one of several pre-made characters which have different gameplay styles, weapons, personalities, and stories, and then play through various episodes which will be released on a monthly basis.

They mentioned having greater varieties in weapons and materia, and that characters will now be able to learn special attacks by leveling up, in the form of Limit Breaks, though how they will be implemented is not yet known.

More details, as well as a full-length trailer, are planned for E3. It was also hinted that this and Crisis Core may not be the only big announcements concerning FFVII for E3.

These new developments are surely exciting, and we will be keeping you up to date as best as possible, so check back later for any new developments.

What do you guys think? I don't think this will end the compilation, seeing that it showcases events 14 years before FF7. What with the new major announcement coming up at E3, I think most likely we'll see either a remake or yet another new title in the compilation. <_<

I say, ENOUGH SE ENOOOUUUGGGHHHH. No more nibelheim event, PLZ.

FF_Goddess - April 1, 2006 03:13 AM (GMT)
Okay, enough is enough S-E. <_< You've milked FFVII until you have become ridiculous with all of the spin-offs. Let it go.

Yuffie_chan - April 1, 2006 03:36 AM (GMT)

Real_Emotion - April 1, 2006 04:17 AM (GMT)
... Please... let this be the last. 0_< Please, no more FFVII spins-offs... this is just ridiculous now. <_< There are now five spin-offs to FFVII! FIVE!

I'm really hoping this is the last, but something tells me I'm dead wrong. It kinda 'irks' me that FFVII is being whored out like this. -_-

meh another one I won't be able to play, no biggy to me. Wonder if a remake will happen. and a sequel to DoC :fanboy:

Anti-R - April 1, 2006 04:48 AM (GMT)
Wow, Johnny is actually getting attention? 0.o; I am speechless.

Two year old Yuffie!!! XD Cuuuuuute...~!!!

yin-chan - April 1, 2006 05:11 AM (GMT)
I edited the first post with some new images. ^_^

I seriously wish this was an April Fool's joke or something. But it looks pretty genuine so far. >_< Great, more Zack and Sephiroth. Just what we need.

Hee, two year old Yuffie!! Guess that means Cloud would be....how many years old? :hyper:

Clerith-son - April 1, 2006 05:21 AM (GMT)
This is the when I'm suppossed to make a bad joke of this, but this is so riddiculous that I can't take it to another level of riddiculuousness.

Kaldea - April 1, 2006 06:21 AM (GMT)
....

Enough about the past already... I mean, jeez. And another game for a phone we may never get? What's the point? If you're going to make another FFVII game, make it count!! <_<

I'll be happy if there is a game set in the future and it FINISHES OFF everyone's story. Kinda what AC was supposed to be for Cloud. All these games about the past bore me.

7, I guess... wouldn't that make Zack and Sephiroth around or somewhere near that age too? Wait... why are they a part of SOLDIER when their still very young? T__T; Feh... I'm confused now...

Lynx - April 1, 2006 07:59 AM (GMT)
April Fool joke, April Fool joke... *prays*

Exactly. I think BC has enough diving into the past.

Erm.... Zack was 9 or even younger. How could he be in SOLDIER?

April Fool joke, April Fool joke... *prays*

Oh god I hope so.

Come on SE, its time to leave VII alone and focus on future projects. Maybe if you hadn't kept on making VII compilations then FFXII wouldn't have been delayed so much <_<

~Fury Brand~ - April 1, 2006 10:06 AM (GMT)
Meh ... gimme the remake and all will be forgiven <_<

At least game play wise I want next generation VII, I shudder to think what they might do with the story what with the recent twist in the KH series and all >_>

As for the rest of it they'll continue the compilation as long as there's enough interest in it and FFVII wise there's still plenty of guillable people who'll lap it all up. Won't harm my purse I'm not buying a new system unless it's for the remake. Thank God for the internet where we can get information without buying the games. Mass marketing of other people for fuel to pour into new projects though. Evil, Square ;p

Sorry, but it's gotta be an April Fool's joke. I can't believe that Square Enix would be this money-whorish. I mean I guess it's possible and all but one thing that bugged me was the fact that it apparantly takes place 14 years before FF7, and yet you get to play as Zack and Sephiroth in Soldier. WTF? Zack wasn't much older than Cloud. At most he'd just be entering his adolesence during that time. How the hell would he be in Soldier? Same with Sephiroth. It's confirmed that he was in his twenties during FF7 so at most he'd be 15 at this time...which...I guess is possible in this world where young people often join Soldier...

OKAY, so the Sephiroth thing may check out (that is if we're to believe that Square Enix wants us to play as a 15 year old or younger Sephiroth). But the Zack thing just doesn't make any sense. He's not gonna be 10 or something and in Soldier.

That is unless they decide that even though the game starts off 14 years before the game, it'll progress yearly...and sooner or later you really will be able to play as Zack and Sephiroth, who will be at that time old enough to be in Soldier.

Still, this is probably just an April Fool's joke. I wouldn't worry too much about it. We'll see if it's still up tomorrow.

MistaCloudStrife - April 1, 2006 11:12 PM (GMT)
Bah they've already taken it so far, they might as well finish the entire alphabet. ^_~

Advent Children to Zack's Choice(RPG where you date Aeris and ultimately decide to join SOLDIER at the end of the game.)

Anyway, I actually hope they create another game. At least another one that the US can receive in the near future.

Sounds like an April Fool's Joke.

Notice:

Advent Children
Before C[/b]risis
Crisis Core
Dirge of Cerberus
Era Clash

Kaldea - April 2, 2006 01:40 AM (GMT)
Well they did announce that Squaresoft and Enix would merge on April Fool's Day as well. That was no joke.

If this is a joke, where are these screens coming from?

Man. Then there are 21 more compilations coming up?

Huh, there's nothing to be said that might sound funny still. Oh, well. C'est la vie.

Well, there was also a long running joke on a sequel to Final Fantasy VIII starring Seifer with screens and a logo, so I'm just skeptical. *shrugs*

lalagirl - April 2, 2006 06:11 AM (GMT)
but if there was a sequel starring seifer i'd be so happy! :fangirl:

yin-chan - April 2, 2006 03:10 PM (GMT)
Okay, so it's been confirmed. This is indeed an April Fool's day joke. Geez, they sure had me fooled! *feels stupid*

Mods, you may close this thread.

Lynn - April 2, 2006 03:17 PM (GMT)
I believe a similar joke was pulled about an upcoming "EC" last year. Although I don't believe there were screens as "proof" that time...

Anyway, thanks for confirming it for us, yin-chan!
