We started off okay, but then I asked him who Cloud loved. He replied "Tifa, he bloody loves Tifa!!" :blink:
I then asked him why, he told me that because they were childhood friends and that Aerith only liked him because he looked like Zack. (I told him to go read MOTP)
He also said a reason was that Aerith only had like 5 minutes screentime in AC.
I was pretty pissed, so I started to yell at him on how totally untrue and dumb his reasons were. Somehow, he came to his senses. He kept saying "You're right, but...", then he just ran out of reasons. ^_^
He then realized he was totally wrong, and he started comparing them with other FF couples and discovering that "opposites attract".
He says he knows that Aerith loves Cloud and vice versa, but he still likes Tifa. I think that's okay, and the fact was I did my job as a Clorith. ^_^

So, yeah. ^_^ Another Cloti down.

It was more than five years ago. I was a cloti until... I saw the ending. I was wavering strongly during disc two. I missed Aeris. The game wasn't the same anymore. I got sad. I got really angry at Tifa for treating Cloud that poorly. The whole reason I supported them was because I thought that they had liked each other that long, but it turned out that that was a lie, too and I was very dissapointed with Tifa's attitude. Aeris became my favorite, but originally I was worried that I would be sad when Aeris died, so I pretended not to like her, I told people I didn't like her, but when I saw her death, I realized that Aeris was my favorite and I was still sad, even though I had tried to not be. During disc two, I still wasn't sure, but then when I saw the ending, it changed it all. Seeing Cloud's face when he saw Aeris's hand and seeing him say "I think I can meet her there.", made me realize that he did love Aeris. Then I replayed the game and I noticed all the Cloud x Aeris moments leading up to it and became a Cloud x Aeris fan and realized how sweet they were together. When I realized a long time later that a guy I liked reminded me of a guy I had liked many years ago and hadn't seen in many years, I realized that this is how Aeris must've felt with Cloud. I liked this guy because of who he was, not just because he reminded me of the guy I used to like. I've played every Final Fantasy game and love them all, both the 2d ones and 3d ones.

Well, i've always been a Claris all my life, but i changed one persons mind. I've tried to change my friends mind but she won't seem to listen. She always says that they WERE a couple, but now that she DEAD, they can't love eachother anymore. Who the hell cares if she's dead, you just don't stop loving them even if you can't physically love them!!

But, yeah i changed someones opinion about Cloud and Aeris. :D :D

I have a fairly successful story of Cloti conversion. After my boyfriend and I were going out for six months or so, we discovered that we both had played and loved FFVII. After we had been going out for maybe a year, he told me about AC and how it was coming out in America relatively soon. That sparked a conversation, and I mentioned hoping to see Cloud and Aerith together, but he looked fairly confused. As it turned out, he had NO idea that CxA was even possible. He had paid no attention to Aerith, didn't think Cloud cared about her death, and shrined Tifa as Cloud's love interest. I attacked at full force :battlecry: .

Ever since then, I went on a Cleris Crusade to convert him. He'd argue CxT with me but to little avail (because Cleris just makes more sense). I gave him an indepth personality analysis of both Cloud and Aerith to explain why they were perfect for each other, compared their coupling to other Final Fantasy couples, cited factual evidence such as Nomura artwork and the bias of the Date Mechanism, reshowed him Aerith's death scene so he could witness Cloud's grief, made him rewatch the ending FMV "hand-reach scene", and tore apart any Cloti evidence he attempted to rebuttle with. Once we both saw AC, I interrogated him with every trace of Cleris symbolism I could find and shred anything Cloti to pieces.

Anyway, now there's no doubt in his mind that Cleris is canon :envy: . The only problem is that he still complains that he can't really grasp their relationship fully because he paid no attention to Aerith when he played and doesn't remember her character.

Step 1. Convince him Cleris is canon.
Step 2. Replay the game with him until Aerith's death scene.

Step 2 may seem a bit unnecessary now that he knows Cleris is canon, but I love Aerith and CxA too much to leave the job unfinished :wink: .

msz aeris strife, I would LOVE to see you post your in-depth analysis of Cloud and Aerith's characters here one day. I think it'll be a very interesting read, and god knows I love that kind of stuff!

And I would agree to a replay too-- just to hammer it thoroughly into your boyfriend's head that Cleris = canon. :thump:


Well, I don't think this can be counted as a "success story" :lol: since I'm actually in the dark about how pro-Cleris my friend became... but it still makes me smile thinking about it.

I made a new friend when I joined the RP, Reality Squared. I had applied to join as Aerith, and the new friend I met applied as Rufus and Zell. She was primarily a Tifa fan (she confessed that she was never a big fan of Aerith's), and by extrapolation, a Cloti. But there was no Cloud player there, so there was no need to get a LT going. :lol:

We kicked it off, RPed several Aerith-Rufus scenes, then Aerith-Zell scenes and then the RP died. Before the RP died, though, I managed to RP a sugary sweet Aerith/Cloud scene with a new player, and my friend was promptly overwhelmed by all the sap (she being a sap herself).

One day, on a different Kingdom Hearts RP, I applied to play as Cloud-- and to my surprise, my friend applied to play as Aerith! She told me she wanted to give Aerith a try since she had begun liking Aerith more after witnessing how I RPed her in Reality Squared. :blush: I was embarrassed, of course, but also happy that I'd converted someone into an Aerith fan.

Then, out of the blue, she assured me that the C/A pairing would remain in our KH RP. I don't think it was because I was a Cleris fan, since I didn't gush about the pairing much to her (considering most of our scenes were Aerith-Zell/Rufus :lol: ), so I have to think it's because she got sucked in by the sap and Aerith's personality.

We ended up trading a bunch more emails and PMs planning future KH-C/A scenes, even arranging Cloud's death at one point :lmao: just to re-enact the scene between Orpheus and Eurydice with Aerith leading dead!Cloud up from Hades' Underworld. :lmao:

She even cited Aerith as her overall favourite character one day on her LJ, even beating out Tifa. I took a screencap for memories. :lol: So yay for that!

I am ashamed to say I haven't been able to convert much. :( Weeelll... I did convince some of my Uni friends who have never played FF7 that Aerith is Cloud's dead love of his life!!! :giggle: Made them all sit down and watch AC, and screamed everytime Aerith appeared! :lol: Thankfully they didn't kick me out of the studio. :lol:

I fought in the LTDs for a long time. I am pretty unstoppable when I get going. However, I haven't made many CloTi friends, because I just don't have the patience to deal with rabids. :lol: I usually just show them how stupid they are and they start hating me because of it. Yep... a lot of CloTis hate my guts. Which is fine, because the feeling is mutual. <_< There are a lot of cool CloTis out there and I love the hybrid peeps on here. But, I don't get along with most of them. After awhile, I decided I was sick of the bitching and the idiocy, so I made my own LT page. I hope it's not too late to post here, but I'm new..so please forgive? :unsure: I have a happy story....kinda. I brought AC over to my mom's house to watch one night. She saw the whole thing and became totally Cloti!! I was pretty upset, but she just said "You always want to see the partners in fighting hook up, I just haven't seen Cloud and Aeris interaction on FFVII." So I went home and loaded up a gamescript from gamefaqs and took every CloudXAeris line (only script that isn't avoidable, all optional stuff I left.) and showed it to her. She was kinda turning around. Then I just bought Itadaki Street Special and she saw the opening scene of Cloud and Aeris walking together and she let out a "Awww!". So I was pretty happy, then after the scene she goes "Wow, they didn't but Tifa next to Cloud hardly AT ALL!" I replied "DUH! That's cause Cloud and Aeris are the intended coupling!". I think she might have changed her mind a bit. :lol:

Well this isn't my success story but its my friends. I used to be a Cloti but she turned me into the Clerith fan I am today!

So we were sitting in the cafeteria after school *about a year ago maybe* and all of a sudden she was like "So I was playing FFVII last night, and I managed to get past Aerith's death scene. That part is so sad. Especially Cloud's reaction, its then you realize how much he loved her." And I was like "Uh, yeah that may be true, if he didn't love Tifa." *yes, I said that and I get embarrased thinking about it lol!* Thats when she was like "Excuse me? no, he loves Aerith, its painfully obvious. Tifa doesn't even know the real him." And we got into this big debate about it. And after 20. minutes of debating, I realized that she was right. And ever since then, I've been a Clerith fan! :cleris:

Well your friend did a great thing helping to spread the Cleris word :) it's true though I always said that Aerith was really the first person who tried to get to know the real Cloud

I'm willing to admit that when I was younger I liked Tifa better, but only because her attacks were stronger XD.
My brother started playing FF7 and he named Aerith after me, despite the fact that she died and he knew she did. I still wanted to be her.
While I watched him play the game I noticed the fact that both Cloud and Sephiroth had an attraction to Aerith, yes Sephiroth did. He was obsessed with her.

Well, i think i did XD My best friend was so clueless of FFVII, but I urged her to watch AC with me XXD so, I asked her, "Who do think Cloud loves?"
she says, "that girl in black. i mean, from the looks, she and Cloud can be together now." so i was like... XD
Then i narrated her the FFVII script, i even have to print it for her! XD So, I told her to read the dialogues.
She then found out how cruel Tifa is, "for a girl, kudos for Tifa for bullying a guy, but she has no right to bully Cloud!" (we have the Japanese version of it). So, we went to watch AC again, and she kept on ranting and ranting how Tifa's such a bully -_-; forgive her.
The ending scene which showed Aerith's face, she was like pulling my shirt in awe, yelling, "OMFG she's so pretty!!!"

Sephiroth was obsessed with Aerith??? :blink: Actually, it seemed more like Sephiroth was obsessed with Jenova and Cloud. He didn't seem all that interested in Aerith except to see her as an obstacle in his way. Once she died, that was it.

Yep. He was and it was NekoDono that proved it to me. There is a FF comic strip and it reveals that Sephiroth was obsessed with her, he was madly in love with her and he devoted himself to stalking her. He seemed obsessed with Jenova because she was in his mind, practically controlling the guy. I feel so bad for him...he was never given a shot at life for himself.

So yes, he's like some thrity-something year old guy who is obsessed with a 22 year old girl.

I could easily draw up a comic about Cloud being obsessed with Barret and it still wouldn't be true. It's just fanart and fanfic. :P The proof is in the game. And there is nothing in the game (or AC, for that matter) that suggests any kind of obsession for Aerith on Sephiroth's part. Cloud, on the other hand... I could see him being obsessed with Aerith (based on his actions in AC), but Sephiroth? No.

Hee. My best friend is a devout Cloti, and she hasn't even really played FFVII. I've tried to explain to her how Clorith is the canon couple, but she's really stubborn. :cry: It's hard because sometimes I can't keep my agitation towards Tifa down. :whistle:

My other best friend is also Cloti, and while she isn't stubborn like Karu, she is the 'Tifa' of our group and Cloud is her bishie. So I gave up on her until Karu comes around.

I have a friend who believes Tifa is more of a family person to Cloud and don't mind Cleris. Though she though Tifa's chest look fake, ya know, the part where you can see Tifa in her old outfit near the beginning of AC? I know some seniors who wouldn't care as much as **** about who Cloud loves, though one of them is a devout Yaoi fan who like Cloud with either Sephiroth or Vincent AND scared of Tifa's 'jumblies' in a nightmare.

Oooh! Oooh! My mom used to be a fan of Cloti. Me and her used to just watch my dad and my brother play VII, I became uber-attached to Aerith, and my mom liked her, but thought he was better with Tifa. I changed her mind yesterday! We started talking about it, and I just ripped the Cloti theories to shreds.(Not in a rude way, of course.) Then she basically changed her mind. Yay, I converted one! I have done my part for the team! :D

Um. Well, my brother was a Cleris-slanted "neutral" for the game but slightly a Cloti after watching AC trailers and whatnot. I debated with him JUST A LITTLE for a few times since he teased my Clerisness, but he didn't really seem to give a crap for the most part. :lol: So like, I didn't even bother after awhile. xP

HOWEVER, after letting him watch AC alone, he further realized that the woman Cloud ever truly loved (and still does) is Aerith. This time I just stfu so my kuya would allow his own views. XD; So as you can see, this is not my success story, but 'tis a spontaneous one from lovely Square.

I managed to convert one...somewhat.

A new student just tranferred into my school and hang out with my cool seniors. When I found out she like Cloti, well, I couldn't help but jump onto the challenge.

With my verbal debating skills, I managed to convince her out of Cloti and into Cleris. Now she is a Single Cloud fan and like Cleris and not Cloti. The thing is, she only hates Aerith for wearing pink. The pink is not THAT much. Other then that, she like Aerith.

Sigh...it's one thing to verbally debate and another to type them.

Personally, I have converted many Cloti. But there was always one story that will forever stay important to me. One of my my really close friends was a hardcore Cloti fan. Made posters, AMVs, hated Aerith, everything was pure Cloti. When she found out I was a Clerith fan, we got into a very heated verbal debate. Imagine sparks flying everywhere and people running away in terror and that's pretty much how our debate went for awhile. Eventually, she ran out of reasons, but I didn't. Now my friend and I are awful close, and for sparks to fly between us is a big deal. Soon enough, to prove my point further, I decided to play the game over with her, and pointed out all the Clerith moments. Since it was summer she was able to sleep over at my place for a week or so. After we finished the game, we watched Advent Children, and I pointed out every single Clerith moment, Cloud body behaviour (I forgot the term :sweatdrop:), and how Tifa pointed out that "they", meaning their so called "relationship", had lost to the memory of Aerith. And then I took her to this site, showed her all the arguments you put up, as well as Square-Enix quotes. And FINALLY, after seeing all of this she became a full-fledged Clerith lover and started making AMVs and whatnot for them! ^_^ So there is my coversion story. I was so proud of her for finally coming to teh pink side... *cries happily*

Nevermind, I talked to my Tifa fanatic senior and she still hates Aerith to the point that she (I'm very sorry to say this, but it's the most blatant description I can think of) follow the Cloti stereotype of viewing both girls.*sigh* As in the 'Aerith's not heroine, Tifa got teh boobz and looks, etc, etc, etc' kinda fan.

Good thing, or bad, is she hates Cloud and prefer ReTi and Rufus/Tifa.*sweatdrop*Nothing against her and the pairings, but I'm sure have my work cut out for me with how she thought of Aerith. (Though I understand why my school's population love arguments.)

LOL, yeah, but we've been friends for, like, EVER! SO she was all into listening to me. Plus I threatened her, saying that if she complained that I would not speak to her for a month. And for us to speak for a month is an even BIGGER deal, so that's how I made her go through with it. ^_^

I renember when I had all my friends for a sleepover at my house on my Birth day. So as soon as the party started and the dancing was over I turned on AC and we watched it all thew way through. After the movie it went like this:

Friend#1: OMG that was so CLOTI!!! I love it, it was soooooo romantic how they were both together on the flower bed!

Me: What? Cloud fainted, he didn't know what was happening.

Friend#1: No he didn't! He fainted cuz he loves her!!!

So than I went on to explain it all and she coudn't back up the stuff she said(she even said he loves her because she has a huge chest and Aerith is a flat :battlecry: ). When everyone went to sleep and me and my best friend were left awake I asked her who she though Cloud loved and of course she said Aerith :aeris:
Her name is Nicole and she nows alot about Japanese culture and she said she was 100% sure AC was Clerith :cleris: she also went on to say that it looked alot like Tifa was actually making Cloud more depressed than he allready is. :never:

I've become friends with this guy this year, and one day, we got to talking about Final Fantasy. When I mentioned VII and the LT came up, he took the side of Cloti and I took the side of Cleris.

We never got into fierce debates about it as I've never been that enthusiastic over debating the FFVII LT-- for most people, the cardinal rule is to never debate politics and religion. For me, it's never debate Cloti vs. Cleris. Strange that I wouldn't be intimidated by debating politics and religion, but the FFVII LTD is too much for me. :lol:

Anyway, lately, he's been coming over more to the Cleris side. He admits now that Cloud didn't love Tifa, but I'm still in the process of convincing him that Cloud loved Aerith. :P

This whole Cleris forum thing is only missing the phrase, "The Power of Cleris compells you!"

The more you beat stuff into someone's brain the more they're going to wonder what's wrong with you!

It sounds like the only reason these people are CloudXTifa is because they haven't been paying attention to the story...or the game....or anything. They're quickly stolen away by flashy graphics and big-breasted things and they forget the rest.

Just have them PAY ATTENTION. They'll come around on their own. If they don't, then they probably just prefer Tifa for whatever reason and let them have it, so long as they know who the real couple is.

In Ranma 1/2, I prefer Ranma with Shampoo, but I know he really loves Akane. And I accept that.

A few days ago, my friend (Cloti) was going on about Kingdom Hearts 2, and he just beat up Sephiroth.

I asked him who he thought Cloud loved, and he said "Tifa, obv."
So, I debated with him. I forced him into the computer room and asked him if he played FFVII, and he said yeah.
So, I asked him why Aerith loved Cloud, his excuse? Teh Aerith only loves Cloud coz he like Zack!!!11!!
So I made him read MOTP, then I made replay FFVII.
Then I loaned him my copy of KH (he only played the 2nd one) And also replay KH2
And now, he's a fellow Clerith. :cleris:

If it were as easy as simply getting someone to "pay attention", the love-triangle debates wouldn't have raged on for 10 years. Harassing members here is against forum rules. Consider this your first verbal warning.

Debates happen all the time, and hopefully no one takes them too seriously, especially since we're talking about a bunch of pixelated characters. Sometimes people change their opinions after hearing the opinions of others. Sometimes they don't. No one is going to force their opinions on anyone (is that even possible?). It's just a fun little thread for people to talk about how someone they know happened to change their opinions. There's nothing wrong with that. We're really not the Nazis some people make us out to be. ^_^

I remember on fanfiction net, I wrote/write alot of Clortih stories on there and one day, I got a review from a CloTi. The story was about how Aeris was going to be waiting for Cloud in the Promised Land but this CloTi was like "yeah sure she will, she walked out on Zack her own fiancee (they were supposed to be engaged when Zack returned to Midgar) and he said other Anti-Aerith stuff. The worst part was after a while, he admitted he used to be a Clerith fan <_<

Obviously, I replied and told him where to stuff it lol. I kid. I was actually quite nice about it and explained that in MWTTP Aerith shows that she isnt interested in Zack anymore and that, I quote, "she loved him[Cloud] more than her first love"

After several PMs back and forth with the typical Clorith/CloTi arguments, it stopped. I just let it slide because I hate getting into the arguments.
Next thing I knew, he had reveiwed my Cloud x Aeris x Zack story saying he wanted Cloud and Aeris to get together!! :huggle:
He added it to his favourites too.

But he's still a CloTi :(

However, I take pride in the fact that he accepts the Cloud/Aerith side now and he DID say that one day I might turn him back into a Cleris fan :cleris:

This is kind of a success story... just a little bit. My friend Lorwen and I were in the car coming home from Best Buy, and she mentioned that the way I roleplay Aerith made her love the ZackxAerith coupling. Now, I like this coupling, but my OTP had to rear it's lovely pink head, because she said that, even though she doesn't support it, she thought Cloud should get with Tifa. Then I brought out the whole MOTP thing and her Zack muse just exploded. :lol: I told her Cloud can still love Aerith after death, blah blah blah, and Lor seemed to accept it. Though she'll never like it. Ah well, can't have it all! :D

When my mother and I got home we saw my brother watching Advent Children, the movie was about to finish so when it does I watched it again from the start. Then my brother went out leaving me and my mother to watch it. While watching I am explaining to my mother the story of FF7, I was telling her that Cloud was really in a lot of pain when Aerith died and when the scene where Aerith grabs Cloud's hand to lift him up I told her that she was still watching over him. After a while she asks " What about that girl?" and I told her she is just a friend of his. At the end of the movie I cried ( but I hid it to my mother. ) when Cloud saw Aerith walking out of the church then I saw my mother teary eyed she told me that it's a pity that they didn't got the chance to be together. aww...
