What whould Aerith's singing voice be like?

Aerith Japanese VA is Maaya Sakamoto, who is quite a famous singer in Japan. She sings very beautiful songs, she's one of my fav japanese singers. ^_^ And most of her lyrics are very Clerisey too, how uncanny! :lol:

Hah, Mariah Carey as Aerith. No thank you, no offense to Mariah Carey, but she's just not the Aerith voice I'd deem suitable.

Not Mariah Carey, either. I've no specific reason, except that her music generally doesn't appeal to me. Very honestly, I'm so removed from any music scene that almost no English singers come to mind.

I did imagine Cloud and Aerith doing a duet to The Garden of Everything (sung by Maaya Sakamoto and Steve Conte), and it was GORGEOUS. So I guess Maaya gets my vote too. :lol:

However I thought (and still do <_< ) that her Original VA in english Mandy Moore does well as singing as Aerith on a couple of songs :)

Only Hope... originally by Switchfoot but she did it for the movie "A Walk to Remember" On which surprisingly.... her and Jonathan Foreman do a good amount of Cleris-like songs :wub: .... you know about the lovers who were once.... *sniff* lol it's just so ...ack! :lol:

Maaya-chin I think is a perfect Aer-chan voice, talking or singing.<3 Very gentle and soothing, yet very clear and almost childlike in its innocence. I personally think Maaya-chin sounds like a living angel and Aer-chan is a lovely, lovely young woman herself so--perfect fit, ne~ ^^;

For her Japanese Singing voice Maaya Sakamoto all the way!

I think of her as THE Aerith...so it's rather difficult for me to see anyone else as her (talking or singing). Actually, Maaya's singing voice is just naturally so very beautiful, calming, light, and clear. As someone else mentioned, her voice is also very innocent-like, just perfect. It's exactly what I'd imagined Aerith's voice to be.

I honestly can't think of any English singers who would be perfect for Aerith....
Could be just me, but I think many of them have voices that are just naturally too low for her. *shrugs*

Here's another thought-- what if Aerith can't sing? At all? If you think about it, she's so sweet and brave and just overall a great girl, beautiful to boot. I'd just find it pretty amusing if Aerith couldn't sing to save her life. Everyone has something they're extraordinarily bad at, right?

I'd laugh if Aerith couldn't sing at all. I mean keep in mind, both Mandy Moore and Maaya Sakamoto are trained singers. Even with natural talent, your voice may not sound very good unless you really train the appropriate muscles. So it's possible that even with Maaya's voice Aerith can't sing.

Exactly! I like Aerith and everything, but I'm not too crazy about the "omg Aerith so PERFECT!!!" vibe I get when coming to these forums. Aerith has flaws too, if you think about it. I don't mean any offense, really. I just firmly believe that there is no perfect person - so there shouldn't be perfect characters. Perfect female characters are by definition Mary Sues. And I hate Mary Sues.

Good point, we're linking Maaya and Mandy Moore's experience and focused training to Aerith, when it's a good chance the most practice she's had is singing to herself while gardening/in the shower (I kinda doubt Midgar had any voice training schools). So IF Aerith could sing, I'd pick Maaya's voice for her-- but I like to imagine she doesn't.

And you know what would be best? That Cloud would sit and listen anyway even if she sang flatter than the tomatoes in this smiley: :splat:

Aerith's singing voice would have to be JESSICA ANDREWS'.

She's a country singer with a very nice voice. You can listen to her track "Show Me Heaven" in the Dawson's Creek soundtrack.

Maybe it's because I'm playing Kingdom hearts 2 right now, but I'm getting the image of a Disney-ish duet (one of those where the two characters are actually far apart but singing about basically the same thing) between Cloud and Aeris in my mind.
