Heehee, don't ask where this idea came from, but I had to carry through with it!

Ever since I was 7, I always loved this movie, and I must wonder who could not? Yes, maybe a bit childish, but...*shrug*

Ayeeee!!! What an amazing coincidence! I just recently rediscovered my old favorite, Simba's Pride, this week, and am now looking for that special edition of the original Lion King. In fact, I was just going to start a topic about this in the Movies section, because it's my favorite Disney movie ever! I saw it when I was 7 too, and it's been at the top of my list ever since. I've seen it a zillion times already, and have practically the whole script memorized. It truly deserves it's title as the highest-earning animated movie of all time. And I disagree, BlackWind, you are never too old for The Lion King!

One of the parts that always moves me to tears(besides Mufasa's death) is in the end after the battle's over, and the rain comes down washing all the filth from Pride Rock(literally and symbolically). All of Simba's loved ones look on as he ascends the 'throne'. Swelling music plays and he looks to the skies, at which Mufasa whispers "Remember...". It's a very powerful moment, after all that he's been through. *sighs at the memory*

Who else here feels that if Simba weren't a lion, you'd want to marry him? I absolutely loved him in the first one, and my love for the character didn't fade in the sequel despite him being portrayed as an overprotective father.(Other fans didn't like it but I thought he was just cool as ever) He rocked as a prince, doubly rocked as a king.

I remember i bounced uncotrollably on my bed when the "I just can't wait to be king" song was playing.I replayed it again and again.... :P
My parents were all like "Stop breaking your bed dammit! "

One of my best memories was when i saw "The Lion king" musicle (or show) in London. It was sooooo beautiful!! :woot:
The decorations, the actors, the songs....I want to see it again! :fangirl:

Yipee! Members!

I too actually just recently re-discovered my love for this movie. I hadn't given it much thought for quite a while, then I came across a fanart, and it just brought back the love for the movie. I asked my mom for Lion King and Simba's Pride special editions too! I still have yet to get them though...>.>

And Nevi...Love the banner...^^ You totally rock.

Joinage! I aboslutely loveee The Lion King!!!

I used to be scared of Mufasa when I was younger. I have no clue why. But then I grew older and I was like 'NUHH!!! He died! D:' Heh.

I saw the musical on Broadway twice, and went to the behind-the-scenes on a theater camp trip. It was hot. <3 The musical itself was beautiful. And dancing on the stage during the behind-the-scenes was fun xD The stage is tiger-striped-ish. :woot: And a lil bouncy. Haha.

I was just gonna say something about The Lion King, then I started talking about the Broadway. Now I forgot. :/ I'll edit or make another post, if someone else posts after this, when I remember it (if I do). So anyways...

YES! PLEASE, JOINAGE!!! :fangirl:

It's the Darth Vader voice. When I was younger and during the scene where he scolds Simba, I shuddered whenever he said "SIMBA!!!!" XD

Wow, BlackWind, I'm so glad you mentioned fanart! Prior to that, I had no idea that people made Lion King fanart! Then I went searching and look what I found! It's Simba and Nala a day before Kiara's birth. AWWWW!!!! *melts into a gooey puddle*

He did have a Darth Vadar like voice, but I was never scared of him really. When he died I almost wanted to cry...*sniffle*

As for the fanart, I've seen that before! I was awwing for a good minute or so. ^_^ If you want a really good fanart site, this is it:

http://fanart.lionking.org/

I think you might see Red XIII mixed in there a few times to, I know I've seen him once or twice, along with some LOTR lions and Harry Potter lions. Its pretty cool, but my one of my favorites is...

Me, me, me, ME!

I'm so glad you brought this up, Kusari, because I always thought myself a little weird for thinking that. But Simba is the most awesome (and handsome :giggle: ) Disney prince out there, no question!

I never really thought about that overprotectiveness, but when you consider how he lost his father, it's no surprise he's so careful with his daughter. If there was a "carefree" parent among the two, I'd wager it was Nala moreso than Simba. (Speaking of which, while I was disappointed we didn't see more of Nala in Lion King 2, I'm glad it isn't nearly as butchered as the other Disney sequels.)

Yay, fanarts! :woot: I had no idea there was Lion King fanarts out there, so thanks to everyone for the links!

I'm looking forward to seeing English-speaking Simba in action in KH2. I don't know how much time I spent in the Lion King world in the Japanese version alone!

Oh yes, JOINAGE PLZ.

...I got fangirl tingles the first time I heard him sing "We Are One"
I feel the same way about Kovu, as well :D

Ah, tell me about it! Remember Pocahontas 2? Little Mermaid 2? *shudders*
But then came Lion King 1 1/2, and I was just  Yeah, I know it's supposed to be a spoof but I can't help wailing "Noooooooo!!! The Lion King is sacred!"

...but I did like the cute bits with Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa in the jungle.

It took me a while to realize that the bit of fuzz in Simba's mouth was Mufasa's ear :lmao:

BlackWind - March 23, 2006 12:24 AM (GMT)
Ugg, I know, Lion King I 1/2 just disgusted me...It was so bad :puke:

Heehee...As for Mufasa's ear...That picture had me laughing for so long. XD

You were afraid of Mufasa!? I always loved him. lol

Kusari Yarou - March 27, 2006 08:40 AM (GMT)
Me too. He's just such a big huggable daddy lion...with Darth Vader's voice! :D
I got shivers when Rafiki says "He lives in you..." and points at the water.
And I love it when he teaches Simba pouncing and uses Zazu for 'target practice'

Yay! Welcome to the Pride!

Well, I found some very interesting things. In Lion King II, the song We Are One, well...I looked it up on Youtube and found it in multiple languages.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=yoABHua4-Is&sea...e%20lion%20king German!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=tDkBJF4khF8&sea...e%20lion%20king ~Japanese~ ^_^

http://youtube.com/watch?v=9zb2esNWpHA&sea...e%20lion%20king Russian.

Now, to see the all the others in the many other languages, lookhere

And now, my favorite though. Ziras "My Lullaby" in Russian. It definately works for her... http://youtube.com/watch?v=UnxiYV7CUJs&sea...0King%20Russian

Wow. Link overload. XD

Kusari Yarou - February 2, 2007 10:12 AM (GMT)
*revives *
Watched it once again.Saw the special edition, with the new 'Morning Report' song.
...I thought it would have been better off without the addition of the song. It's nothing special, honestly :( I miss the original pouncing scene and the Zazu-Mufasa exchange:
Zazu: What's going on?
Mufasa: A pouncing lesson
Zazu: Oh very good, pouncing...pouncing! Oh no sire you can't be serious...ohhh,(Mufasa makes 'turn around' gesture) This is SO humiliating

And I miss Mufasa laughing after Simba pounces Zazu too...haha, I'm such a fan.
If they were going to put a song from the Broadway show, I wish it had been Shadowland. More meaningful, more Nala screentime, and based on the original instrumental.
...Oh yeah, I just found out that Scar tries to court Nala in the Broadway. Ick XD

They were removed by Youtube, but I found another one in multiple languages. I have to agree with one of the comments, Simba always has a "handsome" voice in every version :giggle:
I also found the Korean version of Be Prepared, and oh my gosh, Scar sounds so EVIL!
Jeremy Irons' version of Scar sounded more bored and sarcastic than evil, but this one.... :hidez:

Discussion! If you had to pick your Top Ten favorite moments from Lion King and Simba's Pride, what would they be?
