Title: The 1sentence Livejournal Cleris Challenge!
Description: Anyone up for it?
Hyper-Ballad - February 27, 2006 04:54 AM (GMT)
I came across this LJ community and wondered if anyone was interested:
http://community.livejournal.com/1sentence/Basically, all you have to do is choose a pairing and write 50 romantic single-sentence mini-drabbles based on one of the sets of themes available (you can find the lists of theme-sets
here). Anyway, I noticed that there's been no Cloud/Aeris entry so far, and wondered if anyone might like to write one...? (I don't have an LJ account so that rules me out, but I may pick my own themes and post something like this on FF.Net soon).
So, is anyone up for the challenge? ^_^
Alantie - February 27, 2006 08:42 PM (GMT)
Arg! I wish I had an LJ account, but alas I do not. However, I think I'll take up the challenge anyway and post them here or on FF.net. Or if someone does have an LJ account, I could give them my things and they could post them for me under their name instead? *shrugs* Meh, either way, I'll write them. :cleris:
Real_Emotion - February 27, 2006 11:18 PM (GMT)
This looks cute! I might have a go at it when I have the chance. ^_^
Is it only limited to one pairing per person? Because I want to do a cleris one and then do another pairing.

I can't help you with the LJ problem, sorry, but I'll look out for you on FF.Net though - do you want to use one of the comm's theme-sets or would you prefer someone here to make up some themes for you (if that's the case, I'd be happy to help ^_^)? Anyway, good luck!

Don't worry, you can claim multiple pairings (just so long as someone isn't currently writing for that particular pairing), and once a member has written and posted all 50 sentences for any pairing, then that pairing can be claimed again by a different member.
I hope that helped, RE, and I'd love to see you have a go at this - I'll be sure to post my efforts here once I have a spare moment to write them too. :huggle:
I was thinking that maybe we (ie: the whole forum) could make some kind of competition out of it - like maybe have a vote on the best 50 sentences, or one of the admins or mods could set their own themes, rather than using the ones on the comm, to make the competetion more personal, or 50 members (decided on a "first come, first served" basis) could pick a theme each, write their sentence and then the forum could vote on the best sentence. I was just thinking about doing this sort of thing because the whole 1sentence idea is something that sounds creative, challenging and fun, so why not put our own spin on it sometime? :cleris:
'Course, even if no-one's interested in that, I really hope at least one person will post a Cloud/Aeris entry on that comm - after all, the world needs more Cleris! :fangirl:
Real_Emotion - February 28, 2006 01:33 AM (GMT)
Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up, Hyper. :huggle:
I'll be sure to work on it during my spare time. Actually, I was viewing one of the theme sets and wrote a few sentences down for a few of those words. Once I'm done, I'll probably post some here for beta. ;) Betas are a author's best friend. lol
I like your idea of the whole forum participating in this. I'm well aware we have so many talented writers here who would love to participate in this. And, to think of a cleris 1sentence entry written by a large group of devoted cleris- :fangirl: that would be absolutely lovely! It show how devoted we claeris are. CLERIS UNITE!! Heheh, maybe you should run this idea over to Aly. ^^

Great! I can't wait to read it! If you've already started writing though, then I think you ought to claim the pairing on the community, if you plan on posting it there, because if someone else claims the pairing before you're done, then you'll have to wait until they've posted all 50 sentences before you can claim the pairing and post your writing (which may take a while, depending on how long the other person takes while writing). :(
Mindless curiosity now - which theme-set did you pick? The Delta set was my favourite. ^_^

True words, RE. I'm sure everyone here will do their best to give you helpful reviews and advice. ^_^

Wow, I'm glad you liked my idea! Thanks for the support! :huggle: I thought that this'd be a great way to get the whole forum to come together and share the Cleris-devotion, too. Anyway, I'll run the idea to Aly if enough reliable members (what I mean by that is members who I know will definitely stick by the idea and do some writing) show interest. But there's no rush - after all, we already have a contest going on at the moment, so this would have to take place sometime after this current one has finished.
Anyway, good luck writing, RE! ^_^

Ooh, I like this. It's like a brilliantly shameless excuse for run-on sentences, and lord knows I'm hella good at that.
I have an LJ, but it looks like a siriusjazz has already claimed CxA. I'll still do the challenge and maybe post it up once the pairing is free.

That's a VERY cool idea, HB!
Perhaps the staff could come up with a set of themes, and as many people can pick whichever one theme set they want to use? Then voting can be done based on each theme set and/or a final overall vote for all the theme sets.
I'd like it so that people can still join it even if they sign up late, hence no cap on the number of participants. That wouldn't be possible if we worked on a first-come-first-serve basis (even if I doubt we'd get 50 participants anyway  ).
Either way, we can always wait for the current contest to finish as well. ^^ I'm definitely keeping this contest in mind, though!
Real_Emotion - February 28, 2006 12:01 PM (GMT)
Aw, too bad it's taken. Guess I'll just have to wait. Oh well, at least this means I'll have extra time to write it and fix any mistakes. ^_^ I'm glad the contest idea is getting some supporters, though.
In the mean time... :shifty: ... I can always claim that other pairing I had in mind.

I know it's been a while since I posted in this thread, but I'd still really love to this idea a go, and am so happy that it had some support. :huggle: Things seem a bit quiet here at the moment, so I'd love to start up a challenge that everyone can take part in. I know that fanfiction isn't everyone's cup of tea, but a single sentence or a 300-word tops drabble couldn't possibly be so difficult, right?
Another good idea I've seen around a couple of fanfiction communities are "Aspects of..." fanfics. Basically, you get all genres of fanfiction (angst, romance, horror, humour, family, adventure, etc - I think fanfiction.net has about 15 listed so that should be plenty) and an equal number of forum members. An overseeing moderator randomly matches up each member with a genre, and so each member has to write their pairing in that particular genre. If people are too intimdated by random matching, calling a genre can work too, so long as fights don't break out over who gets what. But anyway, you end up with what's then called (assuming the genre number is 15 and the pairing is Cleris) "Fifteen Aspects of Cloud/Aeris": several different fanfics/shortfics/drabbles about the C/A relationship by different authors, each one showing a different aspect of the relationship. It's a bit more challenging, but I think it'd be fun. *optimistic*
Anyone interested? :D
Of course, these ideas will probably be tweaked a bit to better suit the forum, but there's no harm in that. ^_^
If people are still interested, please let me know. I'd love to run this past a mod. :fangirl:

Oh I've read one of these 50 sentences fanfics. It's pretty good!

Cloud smiled timidly as he laid his head on Aerith’s lap and closed his tired eyes, letting her play with his hair as she whispered “well, I guess I’m stuck with you then, Cloud.”http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2941843/1/Butterfly_Edge
Materia Thief - August 4, 2007 04:39 AM (GMT)
I would love to do a fanfiction challenge of some sort! I've been waiting for the 1sentence claim on Cloud x Aerith to expire actually, but someone else has been keeping it for the longest time. D: <

Hi, Clorith! Long time no see! :huggle:
Thanks so much for recommending that 'fic! I thought it was beautiful. :cleris:

Yeah, it's been claimed-but-not-written at the LJ comm for ages now, which is why I thought it'd be a nifty idea if the mods here would set their own themes and make the challenge more unique to the forum. And then of course, we wouldn't have to wait.
Thanks for your support! ^_^
Clorith - August 5, 2007 02:33 AM (GMT)
Nice to see ya, too!! :huggle:
Oh ya, there's sort of a continuation in this chapter about Cloud's phone.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2938758/5/Advent
Yeah we could do that. Do you want 50 or 100 sentences? I think I'm meeting Lynn on Wed so we could probably churn out something over dessert. ^__^
icor - August 6, 2007 12:47 AM (GMT)
Hehe, I did the 1sentence thing about a gazillion years ago for Tactics!Cloud/Aerith. Glad some of you enjoyed it.
And ahh, sorry Materia Thief, that would be me. *ducks* If I don't have it done within a week or so, I'll go and drop it. Completely forgot I had it!

Hi! Welcome to the Forum, icor! Good to have you here! :huggle:
I've been reading and faving your fics all day (blame Clorith), so I'm sorry if I've been overloading your mailbox with FF.Net notifications. But it's brilliant work, icor - your C/A 'fics have such depth, charm and good characterisation, as well as the ability to present all of that in the format of a drabble, shortfic, or even a single sentence. Hope you keep up the great writing. ^_^

Hmm...I think 100 would be better, because then it's much more likely that everyone would get a chance to write something (and if not and some themes aren't done, then plenty of us could do two or more to make up the difference). I think Lynn wrote in here earlier that less limit on the number of participants would be a good thing too, because someone who's interested could get unlucky and just not happen to visit the forum the day the themes are up for grabs.
But really, it's up to you mods to sort out what you'd prefer, seeing as you'll end up being the ones managing this thing. I hope you have a good day with Lynn and go with whatever suits you best. Thanks again for your support and encouragement. :gift:
Clorith - August 6, 2007 04:02 AM (GMT)
Okay, cool! We shall try to think up something then! Why do I always get blamed for everything? :lmao: And I think I'm also a slave to the phone demon. XD
Icor! Welcome to Pink Heaven! Enjoy your stay! Love your fics!! ^_^ Haha, so you're the reason behind this hold up! :huggle:

Cheers. :) And that's quite alright, I'm glad you enjoyed my fics! Although some of them are pretty old, I'm glad people are still reading them.
