Title: Eyes On Me

The_Lover_of_Aeris - February 23, 2006 11:41 AM (GMT)
I completed ff8 again last night and when eyes on me came on it reminded me straight away of Aeris and Cloud's Love.
I think they suite the song more than Rinoa and Squall
what do you think? :cleris:

Lady_leBLanc - February 23, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
hm....since Eyes On Me is seen more as the main theme of FF8, I dont think that Clerith would suite the song more than Rinoa&Squall.

Actually the song describes the love of the bar pianist Julia for Laguna, how their eyes are met always when he comes in the bar, how he showed her his feelings through the encandescent eyes.....and so did Rinoa and Squall when they fall in love with each other....

Aerith surely watched/observed/kept an eye on Cloud a lot, but I dont think that Cloud did the same in return...or maybe yes...

but in FF8 love starts with you noticed me/my eyes meet with your eyes, and in FF7 Cloud finds his feeling for Aerith through knowing her and proctecting her....

I agree with Lady leBlanc. Besides, when you think aboout it, the song was really made for them anyway. Because to me it matches the situation more better. Eyes on Me is a sweet song :luv:, I'll admit it at that. But anybody will think of Cleris :cleris: when they hear a romantic song. I think of my favorite couples all the time . I really dont get how this song would match with Squall/Rinoa . Anyway, I understand why you thought about that and I dont hbalme you for it either :huggle: .

hmm...I really dont get why not. Julia wrote this song for her unfulfilled love - Laguna who loved her in return and would be together with her if he didnt go for war. Julia didnt have the chance to tell him how she loves him, cause Laguna never went back to teh deling city. So she wrote this song to remember their "tiny love".....

Rinoa is Julia's daughter, and Squall is Laguna's son, so it' logical to think that their love will be continued through their children who fulfilled the wish that never got the chance to be heard.....

did you say that that Rino was Julia's daughter, and Laguna was Sqaull's son? :o Okay I've enever heard that part before. But I guess that explans why the song matches their love..:hmm: :dunno:

Lady_leBLanc - February 23, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
yeah, Rinoa is the daughter of Julia and Squall is the son of Laguna :)

Especially me, because I didnt know that!! :o Some people just hurried and played through the game and payed little attention to the extra details of the story... <_<

Heh, FF8 often battles FF7 in my mind for the spot of 'Greatest RPG of All' in my head :P

I really identified with Squall's character and he made me love the game; i always had trouble socializing as a kid and it hardened me like his pain hardened him.

I was so prickly that i would react badly to people and push them away; not wanting to be hurt and not trusting kindness.

But i pretty much got over it when i realised that i'd never be happy if i kept the shell; safe from others, but the pain of lonelyness far surpasses anything anyone else can say to me.

Infact i think seeing how Squall opened up actually helped me open up myself.

I'm still pretty quiet unless i really know a person, takes me a few hours to truly open up, and ifi force myself to talk before then i tend to say stupid things and shake a little from the nerves.

Anyhow i'm rambling; and completly off topic.

I really like the song; i do feel it applies more to Squall and Rinoa, but it can really be made to fit a lot of relationships if you just think of the meanings in a diffrent way.

My favorite song from FF8 is Liberti Fatale; even practiced with my swords to it before, nothing like a good beat to speed up slashes and thrusts.

Ah crap, now i have Liberti on the brain :D ah well, worse things to sing over and over and over and over and over and over... eh, in my head.

*Looks at her sig* Ahem... I don't really think it suits Aerith and Cloud more since it's from FF8, so

Well. Eyes on Me was specifically made to be for Laguna and Julia.

Especially since it was made to seem like Julia wrote the song. Julia tells Laguna that she wants to be a singer. And Eyes on Me is Julia's Piano Solo with lyrics so it makes sense. Also there are alot of other themes in FFVIII that were based off of that(Waltz for the Moon being one example)

Anyway, I thought Julia and Laguna's love story was really interesting. Although they couldn't be together in the end and thy each found someone else thier children found each other so in a way it's like they were bound together still.

Anyway, if anything "Eyes on Me" would be better suited for Cloud and Tifa because of the whole "being in a bar" thing(Tifa owns a bar). You wouldn't want that, now wouldja? Heh. XD

I never really thought that Eyes On Me would have suited Cloud and Aeris. I always think of it as Laguna and Julia's love song.

Now Melodies of Life on the other hand, I think that really suits Cloud and Aeris. It even goes along well with Final Fantasy VII's theme of life. I think it would have played nicely at the end of Advent Children.

Mmm, I guess Eyes on Me could KINDA be Cleris, because the song's about an unrequited love, a love from a far, and Cloud and Aeris never really admitted their feelings to each other. But other than that, not really. Songs that remind me of Cleris are songs about lovers parted, because in the end that's what they were. So yah, Melodies of Life I totally agree on ^_^

What song would be good for Cloud and Aeris? I really don't know........but I did write a song that I thought would go good for Cloud and Aeris. I wrote what I thought the Orcestrated version Aeris' Theme song. I don't know if you guys would like it.
