Title: Carp
Description: this is love

IluvCarp - December 6, 2004 02:34 PM (GMT)
The reason why I love Cloud x Aerith as a couple is because of the carp *see sn* I believe it proved the truth to why they are official and will be together in AC!!! I heard some rumors that Cloud and Aerith will be together in AC and she'll come back to life..a japanese site said cause I can read some japanese and the rest I babelfish. But yes, Destiny Fullfilled convinced me that Carp is the ultimate reason for love, I'm so thankful! I used to be a stupid Cloud x Tifa fan before this =( so dumb!!! Anyway, I love this forum!!!1

Yasha - December 6, 2004 03:42 PM (GMT)
The carp is an interesting symbol in FF7, but it is hardly so important as so many other things that could be discussed. Cloud x Aeris share something very special that isn't hinged on the carp...

It's quite obvious who you are. Saying that a carp showed you the truth of Cloud and Aerith's love is not only ridiculous but it's a total misrepresentation of what was said about the carp on the site about Japanese Culture and the Love Triangle of FFVII. If you had been reading the site carefully, you would have seen that it was used to demonstrate how symbolism familiar to the Japanese was used in the game. At no point did it claim to show anything about Cloud and Aerith's love for one another.

Please do not distort what is being said in order to make a mockery of it. If I see further evidence that you are attempting to disrupt this forum, you will be warned.

Sefie - December 6, 2004 05:55 PM (GMT)
*Laughs* CIML! I was wondering when you'd drop in! Since your thread about the carp at SSF got closed you thought you'd bring it here. Oh, this is FUNNY!

Kaldea - December 6, 2004 07:40 PM (GMT)
When will people get that spamming at forums they don't agree with only proves how pathetic they are.

Get a job and contribute postitively to society, darling. <_<

You're right, Yasha. The carp is an interesting symbol used in FFVII. The carp was mentioned at Destiny Fulfilled as an example of how the game was influenced by Japanese culture, but it was never said to represent Cloud and Aerith's love. Here's what is said about the carp at Destiny Fulfilled:

One very common Japanese symbol used in a significant part of Final Fantasy VII is a carp. A carp was found swimming in a small pool that Cloud had to pass through later in order to find his way down to the shrine where Aerith was praying in the Forgotten City. The carp has long been a symbol of strength and courage in Japan.

The Japanese consider the carp to be the most spirited of fish, so full of energy and power that it can fight its way up swift-running streams and cascades. Because of its strength and determination to overcome all obstacles, it stands for courage and the ability to attain high goals. The carp is a symbol used to encourage manliness and the overcoming of life's difficulties leading to consequent success.

Cloud will obviously have to deal with such issues once he passes through the pool in which the carp is found swimming. He will have to overcome the difficulty of Aerith’s death, as well as the difficulties of dealing with his past, Sephiroth’s influence on his mind, Sephiroth calling Meteor, fighting the Weapons, fighting the opposition of Shinra, and a host of other things. He needs to find the courage and strength and determination within himself to deal with these issues in order to be successful in his quest to defeat Sephiroth.

So what it actually represents in the game is the fact that Cloud will be facing obstacles that he will need strength, determination, and courage to overcome once he passes through the pool where the carp was swimming. Since this is all that was said about the carp at Japanese Culture and the Love Triangle of FFVII, you can see that the meaning of this passage has been quite distorted if someone claims that Destiny Fulfilled uses the carp as a representation of Cloud and Aerith's love.

Sounds just like what the last dumb CloTi did. Distort our facts. Notice how they both named themself as something like those details? <_<

With how nitpicky they are, you would think they would get smart and weigh our arguments (facts) against their dilusional points that are already being proved wrong by common sense.

FF_Goddess - December 7, 2004 12:34 AM (GMT)
A CloTi, huh? Grow a backbone if you are going to come in here and spout nonsense. Don't come disguised as a ClAeris, because your lack of common sense, your inability to process logic, and your complete failing when it comes to reason mark you as a RABID CLOTI. Get a life, grow up, and stick to your own kind. <_<

Bluemoon - December 7, 2004 12:58 AM (GMT)
I was wondering when someone would bring it up! THIS IS EVIDENCE! THE CARP IS SUPREME! WOOHOO! Go CLERIS!

Anastar - December 7, 2004 01:03 AM (GMT)
I hope you enjoyed yourself, Bluemoon. Your posts will now have to be approved before they are viewable on the forum.

It's best not to try and put the fire out with gasoline.

Trolls will crawl back to whatever cave they came from if you just ignore them. But I know many people are just too tempted to always say something witty, but that is exactly what they want! :P

Well as long as the mods do their job people will not have time to say anything. :D

Kaldea - December 7, 2004 01:12 AM (GMT)
Not to mention it sure shows that they are indeed more stupid than a cabbage. And we have all the evidence we need for that.

Guess what CloTis, this isn't helping anyone here. The more you spam and act like whiny children, the more your points are utter garbage to everyone. I know former CloTis who have dumped all that to be pure fans of Cloud and Aeris JUST BECAUSE of how idiotic and childish you people act. Get some education, find a job and get a life.

Edit: Just had to say the obvious. Now back to moddin' it up a notch.

Sefie - December 7, 2004 01:16 AM (GMT)
Aawwww, c'mon Aly! I wanna read their stupid, pointless, brainless idiodic posts.
And seriously, if you guys think that getting a bunch of you together to "storm" our forum is gonna get us to change our ways*giggles* think again sweeties.

Anastar - December 7, 2004 01:47 AM (GMT)
I just innocently asked them to explain why they feel that the carp is so loved by CloudxAerith fans and why they feel that Destiny Fulfilled says that it represents Cloud and Aerith's love when that was never said on the site?

I've yet to receive an answer.... for some reason....

I find it amusing that they bash Destiny Fulfilled so much. Do you want to know why? Because they are threatened by the heaps of irrefutable evidence presented on it. They don't have ANY CloTi site that is REMOTELY that thorough and they SURE don't have evidence like WE do. B) Deal with it, CloTis. And grow up while you're at it.

Anastar - December 7, 2004 01:54 AM (GMT)
I find it amazing that the main Cloti shrine doesn't even mention that there are three versions of the Last Night Under the Highwind scene, and that Cloud is able to reject Tifa in one of those versions.

And yet, they like to call it a well informed site. Go figure.

Kaldea - December 7, 2004 02:08 AM (GMT)
People who support only Cloud/Tifa don't even know all of the game or the history of it's creation. If they did, they wouldn't be talking the way they did honestly. So I don't even listen to them.

Yukari - December 7, 2004 03:27 AM (GMT)
Because obviously the carp is the only evidence of CxA we have. Never mind that as Aly said, she never used it as CxA evidence, she simply explained the symbolism it holds in Japanese Culture. Well, it was about time for another CloTi to come along, methinks. After all, how long has it been now? Three weeks? Four weeks? Really ILC, we don't go spam 7th Heaven now do we, love? *pats head* Run along now.

lollerskates you're all right. cloti are really sad human beings because they are not foaming at the mouth with indignant internet hate!!!!!!!!!!!! i agree, the cloti obviously have nothing better to do, i mean creating accounts that take five seconds? psh they need to spend all their time reviewing the history of a video game and acting elitist about video game opinions to win the INTERNET FIGHT!!!!!!!!!! it is what jesus would do.

Now was that really neccesary? Creating new accounts one after another is not going to change anything. People who love to pair Cloud with Tifa should stay at their own forums while people who prefer the see Cloud with Aerith should do the same.

Don't you think, sweetie? :)

Then we could all be happy in our own little worlds. Do not hate others because of what they believe in.

So unless you can not post without violating the forum rules you should not post at all.

EDIT: Ahh, you're too fast, Cloud's Girlie. ^_^

This is hilarious, I'm finally present at a "CloTi invasion!" :o

Board up the windows, the hurricane's a'comin'! I'm shaking in my boots now. Really, what do they think they're trying to prove? I'm in a fit of laughter right now, it's not as if their *wittilly sarcastic* tantrums are making me think Cloud and Aeris are any less valid. I've been waiting for this!! :D

*gets popcorn ready* :)

Do you think any more will come? I'm sure they're already recruited the masses of other mindless, CloTi-spewing trolls...

And, oh yeah, the carp is nothing compared to blue being symbolic of Cloud and Tifa's love. Like, CloTi 4eva, and, like, ya know, some junk!

Only sad thing is that our 100th member just happened to be a CloTi frea--fanatic. I'm sure they planned that... <_< Oh well, just proof that everyone love these forums!!

Aprillis - December 7, 2004 05:57 AM (GMT)
I'd love it if those Cloti's posts are shown to us.. in a thread called Hall of Shame of something. A Cloti invasion, that sounds fun.

Sefie - December 7, 2004 08:16 PM (GMT)
Oh ohoh!!! I love the Hall of Shame idea!!!!*Gives mod's puppy dog eyes*

Well, ya know, since blue IS the color of love and all, and it IS Tifa's MAIN color, I don't even know why I'm posting at this forum*rolling eyes*
Oh look! Aly even uses blue to edit posts! She's in on the conspiracy! I KNEW she was a CloTi!

*Looooooves these invasions*

I'm not sure if we should dedicate a whole section for mean posters, it might even encourage them more. Not that it isn't a funny idea, but it's not something I would support. ^_^

Kaldea - December 7, 2004 10:16 PM (GMT)
I think the best thing is to ignore them. Since they want to see our reactions. I know when I kept editing HJC's post when they added more by deleting it all, it just made them more mad. So I think we should really show them that they really aren't doing a thing to us. The wonders of the internet. Cowards can hide behind an IP and "try" to alter codes when in real life, they couldn't hurt a fly let alone someone they are scared of.

Because after all, they lash out like children at people they feel threatened by. We should feel honored. We don't even need to act like idiots to know we have facts.

Oh well. Such are the games children play.

It amazes me how moronic people can be sometimes.

I hate to give ILuvCarp's posting too much legitimacy, but I'm curious as to exactly what this carp is that everyone is... erm... carping about? (sorry, couldn't resist the pun) I know there was a fish statue-thingy in at the entrance to the underground area of the Forgotten City, but I did not notice any fish elsewhere in the city. Is the fish statue what we're talking about, or is there something else going on there?

Just a comment: people often resort to sarcasm, illogical hostility, and personal attacks when they no longer have any legitimacy to their arguments. So... in a sense, everyone should feel good that so many Cloti's are resorting to this... it means that Claeris' have a more reasonable and well-supported position.

If you read my first two responses on page one of this thread, you'll see what they are ranting about. They are distorting something said at Destiny Fulfilled in order to make a mockery of what we believe, and I quoted the passage from Destiny Fulfilled on page one of this thread.

The point being made at Destiny Fulfilled was that many symbols used in Japanese culture are present in FFVII, and the carp was one example of that. The carp is a symbol often used in Japanese Culture representing the strength to overcome obstacles. It's used in the Forgotten City to represent the strength and determination that Cloud will need in order to overcome the obstacles facing him in the game.

You can see the context in which it was used at Destiny Fulfilled here: Japanese Culture and the Love Triangle of FFVII. That's actually a sister site to DF, and it's all a pro-Cleris argument that the Cloti's hate. These Cloti's are simply distorting what was actually said in order to make a mockery of Cleris beliefs. There's a screencap of the carp in FFVII on that page, too.

Oops! Did I say that outloud? Haha, I didn't mean it honestly. But I don't go to Cloud x Tifa forums, do Cleris fans go into their forums and spam? Because if not, I take back what I said about "Haha, I didn't mean it honestly."

I'm no expert in fish.... but from the pictures I've seen of carp vs. clownfish, I'd say it more closely resembles a carp than a clownfish.

One Cloti used to tell me the same thing, actually. But don't clownfish have distinctive black and white marks on them? Here's the different breeds of clownfish:

http://www.orafarm.com/clownfish.html

Another Cloti tried to tell me that the fish pictured is a koi, not a carp. What they didn't realize is that the koi is a type of Japanese carp.

Why they try to argue the point is beyond me, anyway. The point being made had nothing to do with Cloud and Aerith's love. It was just an example of how symbolism from Japanese culture was used in FFVII. Many other examples were given, as well, so the point that Japanese symbols were used in FFVII would stand regardless of whether or not they showed it was or wasn't a carp.

Bloodbath - December 9, 2004 11:07 AM (GMT)
Aaaaahhh... that carp. For a while I thought you meant the koi-ish kind. ^_^

You're right Aly. The carp has nothing to do with Cloud and Aeris. I wasn't even able to see the carp because I looked around the village and found the resting house first. <_< I only realized later that there was actually a carp.

Silly me.
