:cleris: Forum Banner Contest :cleris:

The Forum Banner Contest will be starting on February 25th, and entries will be due by March 25th. On February 25th, a thread will be started in the Contest Forum where people can post their entries by March 25th.

A poll will be started after March 25th so that people can vote for their three favorite banners.

The banner made by the first place winner will be used as the forum banner for April. The banner made by the second place winner will be used as the forum banner for May. The banner made by the third place winner will be used as the forum banner for June.

Entries should be the same size as the current forum banner. The banner can be any color as long as it looks pretty with the forum colors. The banner must have the words CloudxAerith Forum on it, and it may have other words on it, too. Either fanarts or screenshots of Cloud and Aerith may be used.

If you have any questions, you may ask in this thread.

It's a pretty banner, tif, but it's the wrong size. As stated in the directions, it has to be the same size as the current forum banner. This is the current forum banner:

The directions also state that the banner must have the words CloudxAerith Forum on it, and that's missing from your banner.

You enter the Contest by posting in the thread that will be created for entries on February 25th in the Contest Forum.

Couple questions if thats alright..?

Whats the max file size for the banner?
Which image formats can are we allowed to use? gif? jpeg? png?
And can it be animated?

Hmmm... gif and jpeg are fine. I'm not sure whether png can be used, coz we've never used a png format for the banner. My guess is that png probably can be used. Maybe Remy knows? :unsure:

We'd prefer not to have animations. Again, we've never used animations in the forum banner, so I'm not even sure that we're set up for it. Again, I'll have Remy answer you since she knows more about the actual forum settings.

Ah.. I mean max filesize as in kbs. The current banner is 45kbs.

Oh, sorry... there's nothing in the Admin CP specifying a max file size for the banner or any other image used. I would just try to keep it reasonable, like less than 100kbs.

I think this is a lovely idea! I, myself..can't wait to enter this (I usually don't enter contests outside of LJ XD).

And if I may so ask...how many entries are you allowed to submit?

I would say one entry per person. It'd be a shame for the same person to win first, second, and third place because they had made three entries! :giggle:

I'd say no to animations simply because they either slow down 56kers or they'd be too low quality if they were to avoid that. And I say stick with jpg and gif. That's all you really need anyway.

Haha, I know all about this contest! :giggle: I mistakenly made a banner entry instead of a Valentine's Day set a looong, looong time ago! Guess I was too excited... :lol:;; And I'm pretty sure Aly-san knows about this. XD Heheh...

Hmm, welps for sure I'm entering, but I'm not sure with my entry so far. It'll prolly take me some time to make up mind whether I'll keep the one I made a long time ago or submit another. Oh welps, March is not pretty near from here. ^_^

Oh, my, that's a BEAUTIFUL banner! :cheer: Oy... if only it was just the right size... :sad: Plus it has an animation, which would've slowed down the forum, like what Remy said -- although the one on your siggy is absolutely gorgeous... but heartbreaking. </3 My guess is that it has to feature the couple CloudxAerith, yes? Welps, yeah, this is basically a whole forum dedicated to them :lol:;; So maybe you can just try include Cloud in there, and it'll all be just swell. Yes, display the love between the two for all the world to see! XD Right size, animation replacement, and Cloud -- that's all you need. ^-^ Welps I'm not a real expert; they're only my suggestions. I really do love that banner, tif... I gazed at it for a straight 5 minutes. And 5 minutes more. *__*

Aww... PNG isn't acceptable? It's the only file type I use. My graphics either blur or mess up with other file types. I was going to enter, but if PNG isn't acceptable, I'll just sit this contest out. :unsure:

Well, let me try a png file and see if it works. I don't see why it wouldn't, but we can always see.

EDIT: I borrowed ER's entry for a moment, coz I'd noticed that she submitted a png file. :giggle: It worked just fine, so I see no problem with using png files.

Aly, there'll be a price to pay for that!! :evil:

I use .png all the time, cuz when I make signatures, it doesn't make the pictures all funny when I merge they layers, and the colours don't all clump together like in .gif files. ^_^

I have the same problem which is exactly why I don't use the other file types.
