If you talk to Aeris’ mother 18 times the first time you meet her, she will say, “Cloud, why don’t you stop pestering me and talk to Aeris. She might have something interesting to tell you.” By doing this, she will talk to you about what her real mother’s materia might be. She says that it must be something so very important to save the planet, or, some sort of spell to help her somehow be closer with nature. You have two options to say after that, either “That’s interesting Aeris, being close with nature is something very important.” Or “Aeris, that materia is useless.” Say the second option. When she is praying in the City of the Ancients she will be angrily mumbling something. She will open her eyes and give Cloud a coy smile then say, “This will show you useless!” The materia begins to glow and a swarm of bees fly up from her back and into the air around them. Sephiroth, who is jumping down trying to impale Aeris, will get distracted and miss her shattering the glass alter, they all fall into the water. Everyone but Sephiroth swims up. Apparently, Sephiroth was only made of ice cream and when he touched the water he melted. You then continue your journey after the real Sephiroth.
